2023 Melbourne to Geelong Race Weather

hi Simon Dryden here for the ocean Racing Club having a look at the weather for the Geelong race on Saturday if we quickly have a look at the synoptic chart we can see that the front that went through on Friday is going to be well out of the way so if we look on Saturday we can see we're in a Westerly flow and if we have a quick look for Sunday we can see the highs moving in so it should make it lovely for the novel Skippers race on the way home on Sunday if we have a look at Mata we see on Saturday you can see that we're in broadly in a Westerly flow and you can see there's a little bit stronger wind but by the time we get through here it's probably going to move on down so we can see there at 10 o'clock and then we can see by one o'clock in the afternoon the wind starts to moderate a little bit and there is some turning to a bit more south and if we look later in the day you can see that it's all moderating and off we go so if we have a quick look at predict when if we look at the new course that we've got you can see that we're starting on the west side of the channel and there's a wind with the leg that you go to there's a Spinnaker run down and then as you come down through into the Geelong Channel there's some tacking along the way we might have to finish outside depending on what the shipping has but our preferred option with what we've got for the race and if we look quickly at the tables and we look at the summary here we can see the true wind speed for most of the models are around the 15 16 knots if we look at the direction is that all the models are saying that it's true West so if we look quickly at the summary for a Benito 40 you see at this stage we're estimating that you'll be in around half past two three o'clock so that's our intention so all of you I hope you have a great day you're going to get your wet weather gear out and be sitting on the rain for rail for a few hours but I think it's going to be a great event and it should be lots of fun and I wish you all good luck all right
