hey I got uh fresh hop or wet hop beer from Treehouse again this is strata and what's weird is that yesterday I had one of the trails and it was called wet hop billy goat Cascade and this one they call Fresh hop even though they're both definitely wet hop I wish people would just use that term cuz fresh hop is vague that's what SI noada calls their celebration IPA they release every fall but that one just uses that Year's Harvest of hops that have been dried and then they use the whole dried cones not the wet ones like they say it right on on here this has a fresh pick strata that went straight from the field onto a plane and a treehouse within 12 hours of harvest so that is definitely wet hops completely undried um the ones that that go bad really fast that's why you have to do it and you can only have them in during the Harvest Time which is fun um um so Trail is Treehouse is pilsner and they've been doing all these different hop versions and strata is not a very normal hop to use in a pser it's usually used in hazy ipas along with you know Citra and Mosaic and strata it's becoming a pretty popular hop I think it's pretty it's pretty citr likee um and I don't know when I think this one I should have looked up how when it came out but it's definitely this is no more than a couple weeks old and I'm getting some Aromas already um interesting it says as the market begins to move towards convenience of pelte hops we have remained decidedly old school all whatever they don't say anything oh no they say it explodes with tropical fruit flavors to top of crisp and refreshing logger B so that's that's a pretty big just tropical fruit we have it's very different from the wet hop billy goat Cascade version that's dank quite dank in a way that I'm not used to um strata being dank and maybe it's sort of the pser notes pulling out the more dank side of the Hop smells good and then there's some like P fashion fruit maybe guava yeah it's kind of POG passes through orange guava very tropical for sure after that dankness it's yeah it's not exact it's not much not very citrusy I mean I said orange but it's like very sweet um yeah it smells it reminds me of almost like super Hoppy Belgian blondes or like derona XX bitter or something almost like it's weird like this is a logger so it shouldn't have a lot of yeast strong candy yeast notes but it almost smells like it has bubble gum that I think it's just coming from the strata that's a cool hop really cool way to experience it flavor is pretty much the same and very floral sweet flour flavor finish is just dry it's got some body to it but definitely some sweetness that I think helps carry the the hot flavor yeah really good beer has a little bit of weight on the tongue but then it's just a little bit of a prickly bite drying it out not not very big on the bitterness at first and it lingers yeah with an interesting almost like bubble gum cotton candy type thing that you get you know in Belgian beers but also sometimes in hazy ipas um especially ones that use these kinds of hops um and Citra like the very very sweet candy fruity hops it's seeming a little little bit less dank but it has some some nice herbish notes on the side but it's mostly um mostly these these light tropical fruity candy flavors usually I I don't go for the IA American IA hops in the pser but this is like a whole different kind of experience it's it's I kind I didn't really go crazy for their for their wet hop psers from Treehouse cuz they like why you making a Piller why not an IPA um are you able to age the pills iner long enough to make it a clean fermentation but then also not waste the the fresh hop character I don't know it's something I'd like to ask all Brewers about um but it's a a good way to experience strata like straight up and they're definitely these floral perfumey notes that I think you lose in the drying process the Hops um and just having them sitting around for weeks to months um very very cool and it's not this one's not really drying out my tongue that much feel like strata it is probably lower on the the alpha acid level so it doesn't create as much bitterness the other one I had the trail uh wet hop billy goat Cascade super long name that one was more bitter but also Cascade is kind of known to be more of a traditional bitter Citrus the American hop excuse me it's not a super tropical juice bomb but is carrying those flavors but as I drink it it's getting a little bit more getting a little more spicy almost and stays drinkable it gets in a little bit more bitterness at first it was like yeah really fruity and kind of sweet but very drinkable I'm already through already gone through half it so this this is great a 4.3 by
