how about oh yeah I love Malik he going to be a real good player y really see like he's put in a lot of work from Spring to now just seeing his development how seriously he's taking his game over the whole summer you know he's going to be so going to play for this year much more versatility is Def be able to SL guys you can go from Attack side how bad that very Val not only just for like our defense but also just for marketability on our skills to the next level you know just get us all a chance to play every position you know it's very good can mix up the o line and make it a lot harder for them that kind of makes our job easier to make it a lot more so it's been good have you seen freshman kind of to the challenges get ready to that that's freshman yeah uh so out of all the freshman been around they have a very mature approach to things they know they know how serious this is they know this is Big Time football so over the summer I kind of seen that commitment from them kind of following us as owner guys as Leaders you know just asking us questions you know learning from our mistakes then applying that to their own game so Le TJ all them that came in early you know they've made a lot of plays they've gotten a lot better since the spring so it's been really good to see scage Saturday lot of different looks lot lot different combinations up there you defense is going to throw a lot of stuff at you I like it a lot just because you know uh every team runs something a little bit different and being able to switch up our looks based on who we're playing is a very very important piece of kind of what we're doing you know free guys up and may give you an easier look at certain positions you know certain techniques are a little bit easier for different guys so just being able to play different things you know it keeps everybody versatile and also keeps us all fresh how much confidence does it give you us defense to be able to be that that many things that early in C it gives us a lot of confidence you know knowing that we know a lot of different schemes a lot of different things uh gives us a lot of confidence going into the season because maybe uh we're playing against a team that something's not working you know we can switch it up to something else know that everybody's on the same page just as is it wild to think about you guys already have that much kind of yeah yeah yeah it is for sure but you know it's just another Mark of just showing how much work we put in over the sum we did a lot of walkthroughs you know a lot of installs and stuff like that so I think that's been very beneficial to be able can you tell that J derkin was a head coach prior what's his practice is like oh yeah you can tell for sure coach Derk is a very high energy guy he's a guy who really cares about his players just wants to put us all in the best position to succeed I think that's the reason why we play so many different techniques and different fronts is just because he wants to see his guys do the best at what they're good at so it kind of puts us in really good positions not just the defense but this team in general do do you feel like they're surpris some folks in the that probably have you kind of just middle of the path oh yeah I definitely think we're going to definitely surprise some people you know we put in a lot of work we like to keep our heads D just work we're not into all that outside opinion stuff we just got to keep it in in housee because we know what we got going on it's just on us together keep pushing be as great as we can be Ed rushers yeah there's some do we got some do that Ed rusher for show they've been putting in a lot of work making a lot of plays and you know it works together the inside and outside works together we can't do nothing without them vice versa so it's been really good deal to have guys like that can just step up by that position as well how think you just the first day first day of practice for real like he just has a lot of twitch and explosiveness off the edge you know he's played a lot of so you know even though he's still younger he still played a lot so he got a lot of experience he's a really good player we heard a lot about rotate front there how much you like that like you feel like you know having those SNS can you know help you yeah I like it a lot just because you know like I said earlier we're all going to be fresh and just based on game if who we're playing you know whoever's hot is going to go and then once's your tired you know you know there's a guy that you can depend on that's going to put in the same amount of effort as you which is really good so not one guy's taking 60 snaps by the end of the year burns out so being able to rotate keep fres something that all what can you guys at all Saturday what's for you guys I'm say just uh continuing to focus on the ball getting the ball out getting turnover you know we had two turns on Saturday our is in game so to be able to get that that's system last CP days you committed here coach Garrett here H I guess just talk a little bit about that that process and why you why you ended up coming all gu your opinions of Coach vont yeah you know vont has been really helpful obviously he coached last year here with JG so for him to be able to take like what he learned from him as like a younger coach and be able to apply for this year you know it's been very good feel like v he's very mature for his young age as a coach I've been at a lot of places and had a lot of different D line coaches and V carries himself very well you know he's very confident guy he knows what he's putting in and so he gets the most out of us because we trust him as a coach to have our best interest at work so that's very good enj see the guys that were here last year than coach yeah I definitely definitely could see why they wanted it know we got here and they didn't really know who it was going to be we talked a lot me and TR talked a lot with the guys were already here and they really they're awesome I mean you know having a lot of experience is very good they're very explosive Phil are very explosive Rings got a lot of good passers you know they both bring kind of different skill set but it's perfect for the defense that we run because we run so much different stuff they can both fit into everything doing really good contribution so good Happ app
