Tornado Spawned, Streets Turned to Rivers During Record Storm in Ontario

Saturday's summer plans in the six cancelled as many of the busiest streets in the West End of the GTA turned into rushing Rivers it was a series of stal thunderstorms in multiple rounds that pounded the country's most populated city and wrecked Havoc for millions of people and Saturday August 17th now enters the history books the wetest day ever for the Toronto area since records began in the 1840s and the atmosphere was ripe with storm energy at a rare early hour a tornado near air Ontario kickstarted this severe weather day strong rotating updrafts spawn the Twister just before 11:00 a.m. Downing trees toppling rail cars and power lines right near the 401 in Southwestern Ontario okay so I've got damage on the road here uh right here you can see multiple trees down uh this has been thrown from somewhere actually right from there tree down here luckily no injuries but terrifying for the people inside the air Home Hardware right in the middle of the tornado's path we all start running to the back of the store back of the store starts collaps and so everyone's got to run forward to the front it was loud it was really loud it was so loud did okay that storm cell moved further to the East and then it got backed up and stalled out feeding off Lake Breeze boundaries along with other storms that then drench the GTA making for a flash flood event that put a rainy few months really over the edge 2024 is now the rainiest summer ever on record in the six with nearly half a meter of rainfall smashing the previous record set back in 2008 dozens of cars stuck roads closed prompting multiple water rescues like this one in Miss Saga your parents that are there now thousands of homeowners and businesses in the wake of an insurance Nightmare and many waterways burst their Banks just like the little a toico creek that took over busy dund Street West in Toronto's West End [Music] [Music]
