coming from a family of Educators I've always had a special affinity for television shows about teachers in school and I always watch these types of shows with a heightened attention to the small writing because I believe the small writing is where these types of shows will succeed or fail and comedies in this realm are especially tough to get right because as a writer you have to be honest in some ways that will make some people wildly uncomfortable this show TOS that line brilliantly poking fun at how wokeness and anti- wokeness has affected teachers ability to properly educate young students with gentle sensibilities in the midst of the social media age and so far the show has been absolutely hilarious in a way that also feels really authentic the show has a charismatic lead which I think helps you invest in his story and the fact that he's a gay high school teacher in Texas is a really interesting concept the show is a bit restricted as it pertains to where it can go because of the network that's on but the show is made up of a short first season with only eight episodes in it which means it won't risk becoming stale and that choice alone will likely lead to a season two
