what's going on YouTube this is sg1 sports and you're watching our college football channel we're going to preview the 2024 schedule for Oklahoma State and give you a very early projected record this was a schedule from 2023 a bit of a surprise team last year making it to the Big 10 champ Big 12 Championship um and it was especially a surprise after they lost to South Alabama so you look at their non-conference schedule central Michigan Arizona State and then they lose to South Alabama uh but they didn't play Texas in the regular season they did beat Oklahoma also beat Kansas state so they beat some pretty good teams to get there um and obviously didn't finish the season like they wanted to in that big 12 Championship but still um a respectable schedule last year it's going to be a different Big 12 of course this year and this is that 2024 schedule let's break it down first look at the non-conference South Dakota State Arkansas and then they'll play Tulsa on the road Arkansas Oklahoma State that's that's going to be a fun match up there we'll see what happens I don't I can't remember those two teams playing um maybe ever I'm sure they've played but I don't remember any recent games anyways that should be a good one there uh interested to see how that one plays out then you've got their home schedule here again the two non-conference games and they'll play Utah West Virginia Arizona State and Texas Tech which means they'll play five Road games in the Big 12 five Road games in the Big 12 plus you have the UN non-conference game on the road so their schedule they've only got six six home games most teams have more than six most power five teams have more than six home games um Utah is going to be tough West Virginia is going to be tough but getting both of them at home definitely will help out and then you look at that road schedule again there's Tulsa then they'll play Kansas State on the road B Yu on the road Baylor on the road TCU on the road Colorado on the road these are all going to be somewhat difficult games uh you I know BYU and bayor were not very good last year TCU still has a lot of talent Colorado's you know that's a wild card team we don't know what we're going to get this year um at time you know early last year they look good did they fix some of their issues we'll see and then Kansas State of course is going to be a tough one and that's a tough place to play as well so they'll start with South Dakota State on August 31st then they'll play Arkansas on September 7th at home first two games at home then they go on the road to play Tulsa on September 14th and then back home for Utah on September 21st in a home game and that'll be their first conference game so yes it sounds weird but Oklahoma State's first conference game will be against Utah next they'll play Kansas State on the road on the 28th that's tough I mean that is tough back to back and you can get go even further West Virginia next week us on October the 5th so Utah Kansas State West Virginia those three games in a row that is going to be tough that is a very tough stretch there then they'll play get a byee after West Virginia then it's back-to-back Road games BYU and Baylor Oklahoma State should be a better team in both of those teams but back-to-back Road games I wouldn't be surprised at all if they slipped up in one of those then they'll get Arizona State at home on November 2nd then it's on the road at TCU on November 9th then they'll get their second bye before playing Texas Tech they'll play Texas Tech on the 23rd and they'll close things out on the Friday after Thanksgiving at Colorado so this is a you know it's a pretty challenging schedule it's not it's not terrible I mean uh they can win every game on the schedule potentially but they could also lose a lot of games on the schedule a lot of games that could really go either way and we'll break that down in the projection but yeah that stretch from Utah to West Virginia very tough BYU Baylor back-to-back Road games uh it I I don't love the way this schedule sets up and terms of where the games are but again these are all games that they're going to have a chance to win uh let's get to the first let's look at the projections from last year and so this is they were 9 and3 in the regular season we projected them to go seven and five I also predicted them to go seven and5 Athlon predicted them to go s and five and the over under is at 6 and A2 so we all thought that they would do better than the you know go over the six and a half wins but 9 and three uh was a very successful season they had again they were a bit of a surprise team this past year let's get to the projections for this year and see where they wind up uh this is the scale that we use so if it's under 20 over 80 these are games where I think the spread where it's all pretty much a guaranteed win and then you've got your games uh 20 to 29 71 to 80 games where I think the spread is going to be uh D I'd say more than doublage I'd say like 16 17 plus points uh then you're 30 to 39 61 to 70 games where I think the spread will be about a touchdown 6 78 points and then your 50 50 games right there they'll stay in the white games that could really go either way where the spread will be three or four points or maybe less than that so easy wins for them I think South Dakota State and Tulsa now Tulsa is probably closer to 80% than 100 it is on the road uh it's not a great team but remember they lost to South Al lost to South Alabama last year so don't don't think that they're guaranteed to win that game but again they should be favored by 17 18 plus points in that one so two wins that they should be able to get and then you you go to really I'm telling you most of the schedule for Oklahoma State it's games that could go either way so you look at games that they'll be favored in but again I'm not going to say they'll be favored by a lot they'll have Arkansas at home BYU and Baylor talked about those back-to-back Road games those are going to be tough to win both of them Arizona State and then Texas Tech so you figure this team will be favored in all these games by about a touchdown but I don't know that you know there aren't any gimme games in the Big 12 uh it's so it's you know these are games that again Oklahoma State when you're looking at if you're an Oklahoma State fan you're going to say we really need to win these games we we really need to win these games and that's going to leave you with five games that um could go either way but like I said I wouldn't be surprised at all if they lost one or two of these games because that's just the way college football goes but you've got Utah Kansas State West Virginia TCU and Colorado these are your 50/50 games you know Colorado is kind of a wild card like I said I I don't maybe that should be in the purple but I just we feel like we don't know enough about how good Colorado is going to be I think they'll be favored in that game I think they'll be favored against TCU as well on the road but not by much and TCU can absolutely win that game I'm telling you this is still a talented roster TCU uh underperformed last year but they had Talent on the roster still a Utah at home boy that's a pick them I don't know who I who I would be favored in that one Kansas State probably will be favored because they're at home and I think Gooma state will probably favored against West Virginia but again not by much and all these games are really truly games that could go either way again would not be surprised if Oklahoma State won them wouldn't be surprised if they lost them any of these five games and then the games in the purple again they should they should be favored but no guarantee that they're going to win those games so you average it all out with the formula that we use and you get a projection of 8- four so a little bit of a better projection than last year they were set projected to go seven and five last year 8- four this year but I tell you what 8 and four might be enough to get to the Big 12 Championship um you look at Utah Who is the you know they're the favorites I think in most people's eyes we've done the projection for them their projection was also 8-4 I don't think you're going to see a projection in the Big 12 over 8 and four uh just because there are a lot of evenly matched teams there are a lot of teams that can beat up on each other and I think you're going to see that as we continue to go through these projections so like I said eight and four might be enough it's probably going to be that team that that bust through and gets to 9 and three or maybe 10 and two they're probably going to be a couple of teams toerge who will those teams be well it's hard to say but Oklahoma State absolutely could be one of them again you have no games on the schedule no games on the schedule where I'm looking at this schedule saying uh yeah i' I'd be really surprised if Oklahoma State won that game you just don't see that but again you've got 10 games where I wouldn't be surprised if they lost so that's why the projection does uh come out at 8 and4 so that's our projection again not prediction we'll be doing predictions after spring practice and all that it'll be this summer but um just an early projection for Oklahoma State is 8 and4 do you agree do you disagree where would you put this team let me know your thoughts down in the comments below
