believe it or not we are already starting week two in the National Football League and the Detroit Lions will host the one in0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second consecutive rematch of the playoffs in the exact order that it was last year and speaking of playoff rematches let's get into the takeaways for Dan from Dan Campbell's press conference for the 11th of September 2024 speaking of those matchups okay I think it was Colton pouncy or it sound like Eric Woodyard he he had a a statistic that was crazy all right check this out in the Super Bowl era only three other teams have had back-to-back playoff matches rematches from the year before it was three teams all three of those teams wind up at least making it to the Super Bowl that year so if you get what I'm saying the Lions went into the 20 23 playoffs hosting the LA Rams they just hosted them week one then they hosted the um Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round they are now hosting them in week two those three other teams have all made it to the Super Bowl now it's not about necessarily hosting the team but to play the team back to back the three other times it has happened those three teams have gone to the Super Bowl that is insane so just a little crazy kind of statistic there he talked about Dan Campbell talked about Carlton Davis and that he can hold his side of the he can hold down his side of the field and he can handle his business and that they saw a lot of him when they were in New Orleans how he used to match up against Michael Thomas and that he's he's looking forward to facing his old team I mean yeah it wasn't like a nasty trade or anything like that it wasn't any Ruckus coming out of Tampa Bay but he's gonna face his whole team and just like with T.J Hockinson before with the Minnesota Vikings a little bit of uh kind of you know disgruntle with TJ and it was the same way you just have a thing about facing your old team and they also was talking about picking his brain a little bit like yo you just came like literally we beat Carlton Davis if you don't if you guys don't remember the block that Craig Reynolds sprung for amond rosin Brown the scor of the touchdown the first touchdown of the game that block was on Carlton Davis then we wind up facing them in the divisional rounds so Carlton is familiar with this team so he's going to pick his brain talked about how the Bucks are different from last year and he said after one game what he seen is that the commitment to running the football they got Mike Evans they got God when they got those guys but after they they've he've seen a commitment to running the ball which is something I can't off the top of my head say I don't think he they ran it down our throat last year but or tried to run it a bunch we had a top three defense against the Run so you know but they're committed to running that's one thing I I wish the Lions would do just stick to the run I know I I heard Dan Campbell's press conference yesterday as to why the Lions kind of switch it up a little bit it's more of a pitch count thing between Montgomery and Gibbs being so early in the season but yeah I I would like to I can't wait till they commit to the run a little bit more um here's something that was intriguing we have another open roster spot so we still have 53 people on the 52 people on the active roster remember we wind up waving Chris Smith I believe he cleared waivers he probably is going to come back to the Detroit Lions practice squad so here's what I think is going to happen they asked about basically Tim Patrick that wide receiver five could Tim be elevated before Donovan or moved to the 53 man roster because that's probably what's going to happen one of these three receivers I don't think Tom Kennedy has a legit shot but Allen Robinson Tim Patrick or Donovan peoples Jones could be moved up to that last spot I have a feeling that's that's going to be what happens especially based off of how we won the game but Amy R st Brown was was tied up uh leap pora was tied up right the if you look at outside of jamus and Williams the receivers didn't really pop it was J Mo like leap pora somebody else and then St brown right so I think that but he said that all three of them were options that they're they're they're competing for a chance to get elevated to the 53 man roster so expect that information to come out very soon one of the reporters asked him about like finding a way to win and did did the does he think the team mirrored his personality and one thing I like about Dan Campbell let's get back to the beginning Dan Campbell when when they was asked when he was asked about the the very firsta question about the playoffs and how those teams went to the Super Bowl if you faced you know the the playoff rematches he completely ignored the question completely ignored it he answered it as only coach would it not even addressing the question in the slightest it wasn't anything rude he just said he wasn't really going to talk about Super Bowl and he didn't he did not but the way he answered it was Sly said nothing about it now we come back to finding a way to win he was like look We're All in This Together Coach Campbell man he is the guy I saw a video from kto kto and there were I believe four no five head coaches hired in 2021 Dan Campbell is the safest out of all of them I think only one is left and that's Robert Salah and he is on the hot seat he will be fired at the end of this year speaking of Robert Salah probably will make a good DC if we can get rid of AG but you know that's a different video uh or one that I made I can remade right so Dan Campbell is a super humble guy he's never going to take all the credit he's always going to give the credit to everyone else and he was like look we're all in this together you know team effort blah blah blah um but he said he knew that we were going to find a way to win he felt that the team was going to find a way to win I love that about coach talked about James Houston and how James Houston was inactive and Coach kind of said he kind of said it was it had to do with basically it was between him and a defensive back then you have injuries where they're at uh you also have like how much can they help the team and where do they need help at the moment is what I got from it and also that James I mean maybe he wasn't ready maybe he wasn't ready but that they they if if need be then he'll be you know he he won't be inactive but he is on the 53 man roster but basically they got to choose and decide who they're going to have activated and who not so if James Houston was activated then a DB would have had to not be right so we needed that help in the secondary probably for what we were going up against the PUK and the COA Cooper cup and things like that so it's going to be kind of intriguing to see if James Houston is going to be active this this um week typically you are going to have in active about seven players last year was brck Martin a lot but with him being on IR that's not a concern right now but typically it's going to be about six to seven players that'll be in active every single week talked about Tyrion Arnold and how tyion is going against like back-to- back receivers that are tough you know Mike Evans he's probably going to be on him but even Chris godman but from Cooper cut cing how B basically terion is is ready for it the only way he's going to get better is to go against the best competition and that he said one thing he can say about him is that he is 100% unfaced so there's no there's no rookie confidence remember when we used to talk about Jeff okuda now yes he had to deal with uh former coach right but Jeff okuda you can see like his confidence was was just shook from day one and that's something that coach is not worried about with terion Arnold and he talked about that he thinks he's going to be a good Corner in this league for a long time and the last point that I took note of is that malcol Rodriguez you know we made a lot of videos about is Malcolm going to be traded could he be traded or things like that and it's coming out that Malcolm Rodriguez was going nowhere they they think very highly of Malcolm Rodriguez not only his line not only him but the rest of the linebackers I mean Neeman germ all of them but Malcolm is an asset to this team it it Malcolm ain't going nowhere he's he's essentially gotten better since his hamstring is healed but Malcolm Rodriguez is it's kind of funny too how yes Malcolm was the earlier pick over James Houston but both of them were kind of rookie Darlings and then both of them regressed in year two one was hurt and then one kind of got pushed out of the spotlight but that they still have value both gentlemen still have value on this team so that's pretty excited I'm looking forward to seeing um all of that happened and of course DJ reader we do expect him to be back this week so I am am excited about that but let me know your thoughts on the com in the comments below about Dan Campbell's press conference any takeaways that you had how excited are you about week two I tell you what man this
