is up 200% in just 5 years we'll tell you what's happening and why dish says that's driving up the cost of your TV Bill Paramount's selling a bunch of TV stations Paramount's looking to get some money as they get ready for its merger sale whatever you want to call it we got the full details there and we have a bunch of new channels and changes coming to fubo we'll break those down and a lot more in a quick minute first though if you want to learn more about any of these stories check out the show notes down below and in the first pen comment I'll put a link to each story there so you can read them for yourself and come up with your own opinion I'd love to hear from you if you're new here do me a favor hit that subscribe button hit that thumbs up let YouTube know you enjoy what we do here and check out our videos every Monday through Friday we post a video just like this one plus breaking news reviews and a whole lot more here on the YouTube channel with that it let's dive into it dish last week announced a price hike and in that announcement one of the key factors they listed for the reason of the price hike was the cost of local ABC CBS box and NBC stations according to Dish the cost of these stations have gone up 200 100% since uh just 5 years ago driving up the cost of not just dish but many other streaming services including YouTube fubo and the like and that makes sense to me local TV station owners have really pushed hard for big price hikes and they've made it very clear that they want more money few things here local TV stations have become even even more U important recently as more and more news and sports programs moves there and those are the few things that people still watch live meaning the ads on them are more um profitable and the channels themselves are more desirable amongst people increasingly people are moving away from some of those older you know MTV 2s all those cable networks that used to get a good viewership are kind of drying up with that audience moving to streaming services to replace it but now you see people still want the broadcast television they want the college football NFL football all those other things that air on them and because that station owners are using that leverage to drive up the cost of Television according the dish 200% jump in just 5 years is significant and it's not just a cable TV problem we're seeing that impact things like fubo Hulu Plus live TV and YouTube TV just to name a few that's why others that don't offer locals like friendly um sling TV and Pho have been able to keep their price down because those are some of the most expensive channels they're also the most watch Channels now the great thing here is you can get these channels with an antenna you can go and watch um for most people um watch all these channels and more where I live I get over 50 channels It's Not Unusual at all to see that become a reality uh now I fully understand that not everybody can do that I lived in a rural part of Missouri when I cut the cord received zero over theair chanels it wasn't just like I was missing ABC I didn't get any so I understand that but for most people you can and then you can also use things like sling TV friendly or Pho to supplement the content there to help keep cost down I highly encourage you to do it unfortunately for now cost of local TVs will continue to push up the cost of these TV services with no end in sight highly encourage you to check out an antenna to help avoid those fees all right Paramount now they're close to a deal to close to sell to Sky dance Media or merge whatever you want to call it they got a few other biders they're talking to those Sky dances and all that happy about that but part of this is they're trying to cut costs and lower their expenses now one of the things they can do to bring in more content sell some assets and according to a Bloomberg report confirming an earlier deadline report they looking at selling um some of their TV stations earlier was reported that they would sell 13 of their TV stations Bloomberg saying now they're only looking at selling 12 of their independent TV stations now these are not CVS affiliate stations these are some of the other independently owned um stations that PMA owns now according to the earlier deadline story they're also looking at selling bet once again now we've known that's been on and off for over a year now they took some bids didn't like any of them didn't get the prices they wanted and are now reportedly after walking away from selling it once again reconsidering selling it so Paramount looking at ways to get more money we'll see what happens here they they want to close and merge but let money's tight the days of the cash cows of these studios are long gone as streaming has really finally had its um effects on major Studios Paramount's been one of the harder hits we think of it as a massive organization but when you compare it to war bars Discovery Disney and it's not nearly as large as some of their competitors all right fubo is um adding the Matthew Barry's Fantasy Life programming to its free streaming service now fubo is a a paid live TV service they also have a free um ad supported version with it kind of hidden kind of hard to get they're really trying to use it to keep people involved who may cancel so that maybe they come back in the future well with this they're adding a new channel from them that they are adding on there both on demand and live content and um all the related Sports other content with this now this comes at the same time as fubo quietly over the weekend dropped the Western and Movie Network I I let me get this right I NSP which is a very popular Western um show and movie things like Bonanza um and gunm smoke and other popular classic Western movies and television shows with that not surprised to see them drop this but um one less Channel without a price cut I know a lot of people mentioned that fubo lost a all the war Brothers Discovery own channels earlier this year leaving some people very unhappy um again though they're uh locals aren't the only ones that want to drive up the cost of TV these stations want the same thing they want more and more money it's one of those tough things because at some point if you're fubo YouTube all of them if you give into all of it and you raise the price well at some point your customers are going to say never mind because a lot of people aren't sports fans and if I've said this before if you're not a sports fan why are you paying for a service like this go get Disney plus go get Parma Plus for many people who could care less about Live Events and sports it's probably all they need cently Sports is the main reason people subscribe to cable and live TV streaming services like YouTube TV fubo and others the delicate balance game though you got to have the channels they want but also have price more channels they have the higher the price goes so I always hear people say oh I want them to have this Channel and this channel this channel this that and the other thing I say all you're doing is adding cost to your TV bill by doing that so just be careful how much you ask for with that all right let's keep moving along YouTube TV is having a sale right now by the way so is fubo but fubo is just kind of weird I'm not sure how they're deciding it but within the office multiple people looked at it some people were able to get $30 off for the first month I got an offer for $10 off the first two months so $20 in total and other people got $20 off for the first month seems that fubo is doing some but then one of our employees when they went to fubo got no offer and when I went to incognito mode I got no offer from fubo so it kind of depends on who you are and where you're located and maybe if you're a per current past customer I'm not sure how fubo is breaking that out but there are some deals at fubo if you go check their homepage you may or may not see them but YouTube TV has got a deal for all new subscribers if you've never subscribed to YouTube TV you can get the first four months of YouTube TV for just $52.99 that'll bring you through a good chart of February the catch is you have to kind of hurry because the deal ends on August 29th just in time for the start of college football so don't wait head that way Frontier is in our next story up is rolling out 7 Gig fiber airnet now this would be the fastest airnet available in 25 States will be from Frontier most people can't take advantage of this now if you're a business or you're a large area you have a lot of people they will most people will not let's be very clear here once you get over a gig of internet and even a gig well if you're all doing is streaming Netflix ULU Amazon you're not going to take advantage of it I pay for a gig because I want the fast upload when I travel I always hate it because it takes so much longer to upload these videos but um let's be honest a stream a 4K stream of Netflix 4K just 25 down is all you need so for 100 down you can do four of those so a gig is a lot my rule of thumb is start at the slowest speed you think you can be happy with if you want more you can always upgrade they're always willing to take more money they're sometimes less willing to let you downgrade to cheaper packages just keep that in mind but Frontier rolling out 7 gigs is Step Up from the previous two and 5 gig plans so one more example of the crazy fast internet that we're seeing from more places Pluto TV one of the largest free ad sported streaming service is rolling out two new news networks including a Revival of CNN headlines now CNN headlines is um CHL or whatever they call it now still around but the format of showing just the biggest news stories happening in a quick rapid Pace format is long gone now they're bringing that format to Pluto TV and other streaming services and they also are all add the Salem News Network now Salem News network is um been around for a little while on a variety of other free streaming services probably know Salem best for their talk radio stations other owned radio stations across the country um many um prominent talk radio hosts are on their Network well they have a News Network now available there PL TV adding another one let's dive into the question of a day if you have a question for me start off with a qu something like a question for Luke in the comments here I'll either answer it in the comments as many as I can or pick one or two answer them here related to yesterday's video about Comcast had a lot of people ask questions one that came up a lot I thought I made it clear but I don't think I made it clear enough in the video data caps depend on where you live with Comcast most Comcast customers have data caps regardless if you um have their modem or if you supply your own even if you supply your own modem you still have a data cap there's a few states that ban the data caps that they don't have them in the Northeast beyond that data caps are on most Comcast plans you can sign up for their Unlimited Plan either through renting a modem that qualifies for that or paying 30 bucks if you have your own just keep that in mind that there are fees with that if you're not doing it well that's it for today I hope you have a fantastic day take care be safe I'll be back again real soon with another video don't forget to hit that subscribe button it really does help us and I'll see you all back again tomorrow
