Intro her record is schizophrenic the only thing that you can be sure of is that kamla Harris will sell us out to the highest bidder she will do whatever it takes to accumulate the power and the money and that's what her record shows hello everyone welcome to the Steve Hilton show you are in for a treat today because we have got Jan horn here with absolutely everything you need to know about carela Harris's record when she was in office in California and what that means for what she would do in the Oval Office but first there's a couple of stories that to me point in the same direction this week and it's all about this absolutely unbelievable Shameless Brazen hypocrisy of the Democrats and their allies in the media every time they Trot out this stuff about defending democracy and you see all over the place and there's so many different things that have come together just in the last 24 hours or so so first of all we had the results of the election in Venezuela and there all The Observers suggest that the results are completely false the Nicholas Maduro the dictator claimed to have won actually was defeated but he's the dictator he's an autocrat and therefore he's going to cling on to power so Q absolutely as expected uh the left here saying you see this is what happens when you have an autocrat in power and this is what dictators do this is what Trump would do and then they link it to this speech that uh former president Trump made I think it was at a turning point event in Florida and he had some remark towards I think right the end of his speech um which has set off an absolutely hilarious round of totally bad faith disingenuous dishonest nonsense about how Trump's a threat to democracy let's play the clip and again Christians get out and vote just this Christians Get Out and Vote time you won't have to do it anymore four more years you know what it'll be fixed it'll be fine you won't have to vote anymore my beautiful Christians I love you Christians I'm a Christian I love you get out you got to get out and vote in four years you don't have to vote again we'll have fix so good you're not going to have to so obviously that's a joke it's a classic Trump line it's going to be so great you won't need to vote again it's obviously what he meant um but of course they're running around saying see he's going to cancel elections I mean they're really seriously saying this and they're connecting it to Maduro in Venezuela and saying that he's gonna come to elections and it's just so unbelievably predictable and ridiculous but you can't just laugh it off because these are people who you know they they seem to really believe this it's another one I mean I I talked about this earlier last week when we were talking with um Tammy Bruce uh for the Big Ideas Book Club I hope you check out that episode she got a fantastic book out about how the left uses fear as a weapon to entrench their power and just in that conversation it came up they they constantly talking about existential threats um in order to justify emergency action and and anything that gives them more power and one of the things that it reminded me of was Liz Cheney uh talking about Trump saying that again with a straight face you know she's as I said not a stupid person um whatever else you may think of her saying that if Donald Trump wins next time it could be the last free election in America so that she actually said that and you think what's going on with these people but they're all saying it this is what they say and and here we are again they're comparing Trump to Maduro and saying that he's going to be a dictator and council elections and the whole thing is so insulting to the intelligence especially when you combine it with the reality of what they're doing right now and the latest example this proposal that Biden feeble old Biden who's on his way out just throws in this proposal for reform he calls it reform of the Supreme Court it's not reform at all it's totally neutering the Supreme Court undermining the Supreme Court and by the way when you talk about democ rcy it's our Constitution and the Supreme Court is a part of that Constitution a very well-thought out part of that Constitution including how it operates how the Su the Justices are appointed and how they relate to the other branches of government Biden wants to rip that all up these so-called Defenders of our democracy they want to undermine our democracy that's his latest proposal he wants to have term limits for the justices um he wants to end the whole concept of Lifetime appointment which is what guarant es their independence in one sense they're the weakest part of the whole constitutional setup because they don't have armies and law enforcement they don't have money they just have to operate to keep the other branches in check that is the whole idea of this intricate balance of power checks and balances that the founders had which has made America the greatest nation in the world a foundation for True Liberty and everything positive that goes with that and these people that claim to want to defend it are actually the ones constantly coming out with proposals like this one that would undermine it and some of it's just laughable I mean he's talking Biden's talking in this proposal about um a code of ethics which was all about driven by these stories about expenses being paid by donors and gifts to to Clarence Thomas and all these stories that they've wildly exaggerated then you have to have a code of ethics that stops people getting gifts and travel and all these things so that they're not compromised oh great well that's a nice idea did how about we apply that to presidential candidates and to members of Congress and see how far that proposal would last if you say no more gifts no more free travel no more vacations and perks and holidays and all the things that members of Congress get all the time and their families from donors and lobbyists and all the rest of it it's a complete joke so every time you hear these people going on and on about protecting our democracy make sure you remember what it's really about which is preserving their power I want to talk about our latest policy document now um which is a paper Abundant Water that we've just published um from Golden together my policy organization focusing on California it's one of those subjects that doesn't get discussed enough but it just shows you the scale the Epic scale of the failure of the people that have been in charge of California for so long now this one party rule the title of our paper is abundant water and you would think that that is not something controversial that even needs to be said of course we should have abundant water we don't have abundant water and that is the direct result of policy failures and just to give you a sense of how bad it is in California this is an unbelievable fact today you have 1 million people in California without access to Reliable clean drinking water a million people and that's just the most egregious example of their failure if you look at what's going on with one of our great Industries agriculture so the Central Valley of California and then extending down into places like Imperial County down near the southern border and you have other parts you know um the monter in the Monterey area all throughout the state you have incredible agricultural areas it's the Central Valley really that's the heart of it one of the most fertile and productive places on Earth I mean those of you who are listening in California you know you know the numbers you know that we are by far the biggest producer of so many crops almonds and pistachios and so on just right across the board we are a huge part of the global food production system here in California never mind our own State and our own country it is a massive industry actually generates more Revenue than more famous Industries in California that are better known and more in the media Spotlight like Tech and entertainment and so on it's a huge huge industry so guess what is happening and has been happening now for years the Democrats in charge completely consumed by this mentality of scarcity driven by climate extremism like the climate change argument means that we have to clamp down on everything and we can't have housing we can't have development can't do anything because it's bad for the planet and one example of that is this ideology around water which says well we've got more extreme weather we have more droughts and therefore we have to ration water and people can't use so much water it's totally the wrong way around of course it's true that the climate is changing all the more reason that we have to adapt to that by making sure we can thrive in whatever nature May throw at us they're doing the exact opposite they are rationing water just as they are rationing energy and everything else and housing to make life miserable for people now of course they don't say that that's the goal but that's the consequence just as the attitude of scarcity austerity you can't have this you can't have that means that housing is impossible to build which means that housing costs are so incredibly high that that young people want to need to move out of the state if they want to raise a family and it's why electricity prices are the highest in the country because they won't invest in the new energy sources we need to keep our economy growing and our society thriving when it comes to water it's even worse so they're actually when you look at their plans and this is what the The Unbelievable story as I'm traveling up and down the state of California particularly in the Central Valley are great farming industries that I love so much my family in Hungary you know the the place we're from is an agricultural area I feel a real connection to it it's an ABS it's absolutely outrageous what's happening they're cutting back on the water that they've already paid for so the way the system works is you have the state Water Resources board and they have all these plans and they contract with local water agencies to provide water water and you pay for it it's a contract and increasingly they're just refusing to give the water saying we don't have enough and so you're not going to get the water that you've paid for and as a result of all of this and other policies you're going to have 1 million Acres Farmland taken out of service because the they the state of California won't give our industry the water it needs and just imagine if that was the case with any other industry let's just let's imagine they said to Google and Facebook and all these companies sorry you're going to have to shut down 90% of your operations this year because we're going to cut your energy use that's the kind of thing that's now going on with our agriculture industry and then on top of that there's this whole policy being imposed on California which is rationing water they call it conservation which is you take fewer showers and you know rip up your Gardens and and have this Desert Landscaping and all this kind of stuff nothing wrong with that if you like Desert Landscaping that's fine but the whole attitude that's behind this is you can't have what you need and we're going to ration everything and cut back an ideology of scarcity and austerity Progressive austerity you could call it whereas in fact we could do the exact opposite we could have abundance we could have absolutely all the water we need we can have absolutely all the energy we need we could have all these things if we had the right attitude and said no we're creative we can think of solutions that work and we can invest in the future and make sure that all our Industries Thrive and people can have a growing standard of Current Water Infrastructure living and that's what our policy paper is all about because if you actually look at what they're doing this is the amazing thing the current water infrastructure in California basically hasn't been added to for 50 years there's this amazing thing that happened in the 1960s the state Water Project incredible engineering to provide reservoirs and irrigation and canals and all the systems it's incredible achievement and that's been it for the last 50 years so we're still working basically with a water infrastructure that was designed for a population of 20 million and we now have 40 million and even when the voters voted in a ballot initiative not that long about 10 years ago to build more water storage nothing happened because of endless environmental reviews it's all stuck just one small Reservoir that has been approved still hasn't been built they're now looking at 2030 so as a result of all that because we haven't built the storage we haven't built the infrastructure we haven't thought about new ways to handle any of this and on top of that there's this pressure to use um water for what they call environmental purposes which is to basically save a couple of fish species that they consider to be endangered that take priority over this huge industry putting all that together we're incredibly short of water and so that's what our paper is all about is addressing that right now roughly speaking the measurement for water the unit of measurement is millions of acre feet acre feet that's how they measure water so we currently use about 75 the whole supply of water in California is about 75 million acre feet per year the current plans that they've got will basically cut that actually reduce the amount of water we have unbelievably to 65 million l in the next few years unbelievable but that is the plan so what we've got in this policy document is a series of steps building new Water Abundance reservoirs investing in desalination plants actually using techniques that are really interesting Under The Heading of slow water I did a previous podcast episode on this where for example you refill aquifers underground and you let the ground water recharge by directing water to places flood planes and things like that instead of flushing it all out into the ocean which is what happen so much now when you have heavy rains in the winter or snowfall in the Sierra Nevada mountains that melts so much of this water just being totally wasted instead of being captured and stored in intelligent ways so this policy paper water abundance is all about how we can get towards not cutting our water supply but increasing it it's very ambitious but we used to do ambitious things in California we used to do ambitious things in America we used to think big and think about the future and build for the future and instead of instead of this narrow mindset of squeezing everything and and um rationing everything and telling people you can't have this and you can't have that let's change all that let's Embrace this mindset of abundance build the water storage we need build the infrastructure we need and give our people the water you know the essence of life water to live water to grow water for California that is our new policy paper you can find it at goldent together.com okay joining us for California corner it California Corner feels like it's been ages Jen horn I don't know has it been or just the craziness of our days and weeks at this point I I keep saying that the new cycle like the ceiling f it used to be that the new cycle was like a ceiling fan now it's like a fire hose Steve so I feel like everything we're sort of living in dog years like every month is like insane I mean I just don't know where a bit where you bit anyway nice to see you and to that exact point you've got some really great information that the whole country needs to share everyone in California certainly needs to be reminded of which is OB the latest turn in the in the new cycle was carela Harris uh now the pretty much confirmed as the Democratic nominee Biden's out kamla's in what do people need to know well I just I want people to understand that kamla Harris is the ultimate transactional actor and what I think's happening with today's Democrat Party Steve is that there isn't like one person running things anymore it's actually I think run by the party Elites who have a someone who's like a figure hat that's what Joe Biden was was just someone that they could use to pass through the election cycle who clearly wasn't in control of what was happening in the Oval Office and and other people were working behind the scenes and I don't think that the Democrat Party wants to give that up this is why Bernie Sanders wasn't popular with Democrat Party members in he was with the public but he couldn't be controlled I mean you didn't like what Bernie Sanders had to say but you knew he was like his ideology was true and that he was going to remain true to his values and I think today's Democrat Party doesn't want that they want someone that can be controlled and that's why they like Gavin Newsome that's why they saw the useful I hate to say useful idiot but of of Joe Biden really and that's why kamla Harris is up next because she's the ultimate in transactional and so I had a lot of things flying around in my head I've lived in California my whole life and I've watched KLA Harris as she's gone from prosecutor in San Francisco to attorney general to Senator to vice president and I think that I'm seeing the Republican Party really scramble in how to deal with her and I think what we need to tell people is that she really can't be trusted with our country Steve yes it is true she is very Progressive she's probably to the right of Bernie Sanders and she showed us that as Senator with her votes and her co-sponsoring of the green New Deal she is responsible for the Biden agenda as well she owns the Border crisis she was the borders are despite what people want to say but it's what she did in California that makes her record really interesting and you know a lot of people will say well she's you know Dei hire or she Willie Brown I just don't think that's the right messaging here because uh well those things may be true and she has some stories to tell um she's in the place she is because she is definitely someone who will do anything to accumulate Powers so yes I completely agree with you and I and I just want to Machine Politicians explain you know from my experience in politics why this matters so much because the my my version of of I mean your term transaction which is exactly right my version of that is that she's a machine politician right exactly like Biden exactly like Gavin newst which is that they don't have some core belief system that they're trying to advance other than their own you know career basically and that why is that dangerous it's dangerous because actually the truth is when it comes to selecting leaders in particular at that level of leading a country where you're not micromanaging you know the fixing the potholes or whatever you're you know you're a lot of the job is responding to unpredictable future events and so yeah you can lay out as a politician well here's my plans this is what I'm going to do here's my policies whatever like actually most of what you end up doing is responding to stuff that happens in the world and yeah so the kind of person you are the character you are is actually the really important thing when you're judging who your leaders are going to be and if you've got someone like these machine politicians like K Harris like Joe Biden like heav H the problem is because they don't have any guiding principle they don't have any kind of strong core to them they will cave to wherever the pressure is coming from that's right and so that's why they're dangerous and you saw it with Biden because he doesn't really believe he'll do whatever's expedient so you end up as we saw with Biden caving to our enemies abroad caving to Iran and and all the rest of it and being weak look at how he was and Israel a perfect example where you know he starts off being you know sounding loyal and he's on the side of the Israel Israel and whatever after the Hamas attack and then when it didn't suit him politically just completely running away from Israel and actually being so weak that it's prolonging the war and and so on and and domestically caving to the left because that's where the pressure comes from so whereever the pressure comes from that's where they go and that's why this is really an important point it's not just a kind of oh look at them they kind of flip-flop on issues or whatever no it's it's very important for the future and what and how they would respond in a crisis to events that happen which is actually the the main thing you need to judge when you're choosing your Her Record is schizophrenic politician and I think that's really really well said because when you hear um some of the things that were just floating around in my head and I went I went okay I got to see what the real story here was because you remember them over you know 20 years you remember them but you want to actually dig into it and see what it was her record is schizophrenic and her the only thing that you can be sure of is that kamla Harris will sell us out to the highest bidder and she will do whatever it takes to accumulate as we talked about the power and the money and whatever it is to to hold on to to something and that's what her record shows and so when we're looking back at her record and she has one which is why think it's ridiculous for people to try to make this about her gender or her skin color she has a record that is worth scrutinizing you're going to see that what she pretends to say is really not what's reflected in her record so for instance she says she wants to protect people of color well of course this is the easy one it's the one we've all heard about that tulsey gabber did so beautifully during the debate in 2020 when she called kamla Harris out for locking up 1567 black men for low-level marijuana possession offenses that's they were holding marijuana but she put them in jail and so the question is why did she do that well she did it because she was trying to increase her prosecutorial standing in the state of California and she needed to show people that she was going to be a tough prosecutor so instead of going after the big cases the real criminals she went after people who were holding on to marijuana and probably had an ounce of it on them on their possession and she used that to try to pad her record that's insulting if you're out there today saying that you're into Criminal Justice Reform or you want to to bail the black lives matter protesters out of prison when you yourself were putting those same people away and by the way laughing about your own marijuana use when you were questioned about it I mean it really is kind of Despicable when you think about that when when was that let's just look make sure we got the timeline right so when was she doing all that that was St that was when she was prosecutor that was when she was prosecutor of of San Francisco Francisco da okay and try when she was running for AG Statewide you got that right now it also as prosecutor and this is where it's really telling because this is where she's making her move right to the big time she's leaving a San Francisco prosecutorial position as da to now wanting to become the Attorney General of California so here's a real problem in San Francisco in her office she ran all of the Das and apparently for six years the Das were warning her in her office that there was a lab technician who was compromised this lab technician was a female she was people knew she was stealing drugs she had a cocaine habit she was stealing drugs she was falsifying evidence she was giving bad testimony in their trials and in fact there was even one letter that was that someone got a hold of and published where undependable was spelled in all caps in the subject line sent from one of the Das to KLA Harris who ignored the problem until she was running for da or excuse me until she was running for a and the Scandal went public and then she had to explain how for six years they used someone who was falsifying evidence to obtain convictions and so ultimately she tried to play stupid she tried to pretend that there was that she didn't know and then she said well she did have an inclination but she never really provided guidelines as to how these people who were put away were going to actually get their cases settled knowing that they were put away maybe with false evidence or evidence that have been tampered with and ultimately at the end of that she had to overturn 1,500 cases in the city of San Francisco alone because of this labtech who was left in position for six years and had tampered with and provided bad evidence false cases that were overturned it's huge in The Bob Filner Scandal the city just in one city I mean you could think maybe if that was the state but this was the city of San Francisco it's a large number of cases and of course she said she didn't know and still when she left the office of went on to become the Attorney General there were still no guidelines in place as to how people who were put away were actually able to to to get access to whether or not their files were were held up with this lab technician so that was another Scandal and you know she loves to talk about helping women right she's a big Fighter for women well you may remember the mayor of San Diego his name was Bob fillner very Charming Man apparently who liked to put women in headlocks um he had 20 allegations against him of abuse and assault I mean I can remember when this story broke I was just starting out on the radio in La at am870 and I remember there was a woman who said he cornered her in a booth at Marie Calendars of all places really high class and wouldn't let her out and 20 different women came forward accusing him with the same types of things while while he was me while there right that's right now this is when she's Attorney General of California and K Harris gets a lot of political pressure because they shared a political C political consultant he still wielded a lot of of political power in California so she went to him and made him a deal and said if you cop to one charge basically I'll give you three months of house arrest he should have been locked up for over five years if she had actually appropriately charged him but instead she gave him a plea deal three months of house arrest is all he got for 20 different allegations from 20 different women and to put salt in the wound you might remember in 2020 she went after president Trump for appointing Alex aosta to his administration and the reason that she was upset about that is because he was the guy who was accused of going soft on Jeffrey Epstein in Florida when she herself has done the same kind of things now I'm not trying to equate Bob fillner to Jeffrey Epstein but it is interesting that it's okay when you're prosecutor to make people sweet deals but it's not okay when someone else is who's not on the same side of the political aisle with you she also says that she wants to protect the children and I know you spent time on this program talking with Jennifer vanar who's done an amazing job about what she did with the Catholic church but this was kind of a a double doozy so back to when she was Da the statute of limitations changed for victims of sexual abuse and so many of the people who were charging the Catholic church back in the 2000s were no longer able to file criminal charges against the church they had to file civil cases and apparently kamla Harris's office refused to cooperate with any of the victims to turn over their investigative files and all of the information that they had accumulated over 80 years of abuse all of the history of that was kept under lock and key in KLA Harris's office from what I understand she helped zero nobody who came to her office for help and the reason that she did that was because the political or because of the political power and the sway that the Catholic Church the arch dases held in San Francisco and she decided it wasn't worth going up against them now full disclosure I'm a Catholic Steve but you know what when you have all of these cases you need to address them regardless of the political power or money they hold and if you're really all about protecting children this is absolutely something that you should be doing and the fact that she refused to cooperate I think tells you all you need to know that she is power hungry and not concerned about the victims or about the children who were impacted by this I mean it's just pretty stunning because she comes out and presents herself in one way and there's all of this evidence and this is just scratching the surface there are stories that have been given to me after I started doing this research that I'm still digging into from people who were here illegally and brought into programs by KLA Harris I don't know if you heard about this but she had a um a program in San Francisco when she was Da that allowed people to have their records wiped clean if they went into like a work service program well one of these illegal immigrants who was here illegally obviously up in San Francisco and was stealing purses and stealing from people he was he was arrested in and out of jail she put him in this program and while he was in the program the man tried to steal someone's purse and then ran her over with a car basically breaking in her skull and KLA Harris's response to that was this is a terrible story that just puts a pimple on the face of this program now I'd say a serious assault like that is probably more than just a pimple but again it's about the look of the program it's about what it looks like on the outside not who she's protecting on the inside and then of course finally she says she protects marginalized communities and she wants to prioritize safety and now one of the big ones is she's the prosecutor and Trump is the convicted felon yet she was the one who's created a sense of lawlessness in California she was one of the authors of Prop 47 Steve she helped name it the safe neighborhoods act this was a bill of goods that California is still paying for today that has really presented us a place of of chaos lawlessness where people can get away with things like stealing anything they want under 900 bucks they can get away with date rape they can get away with all of these things now as a misdemeanor rather than a felony and she owns this she owns proposition 47 which has taken all this time to finally even amend and not even take away fully with prop 36 which will be on our ballot in November so uh these are things we have to remember about kamla Harris as we move forward into figuring out who is going to be the best choice to lead the country in 2024 exactly the brilliant I mean some of that i' I'd seen some of it I didn't know really good information there J and I think it's just important that you know people understand that that she's not just I mean you know it's like I guess there's some version of what that line that that her mother told her about the coconut tree right she didn't just you know as a candidate she did I don't know what what the equ you know she didn't just sort of fall out of you know the embarkadero in San Francisco and you know and turned up in Washington no she had a record right she said just suddenly show up um and I think it's very very important that people understand this and it is the right judgment it's like well what are you what are you going to be like if we if we actually make put you in a decision-making role I mean we've seen that she's you know hopeless on the the specific issues that she's been given to deal with as vice president that's why you know not allowing them to Memory hold the whole bordar thing is so important but but actually it's a very consistent pattern what you've laid out there over you know decades actually I think it also shows her disconnect in in managing things so okay we've established that her decision making can be bought perhaps you know with the whatever is going to come to her she'll look to benefit herself probably more than she'll benefit the people that she's about to represent but I think it also shows her leadership style I mean we've learned something over the past week or so that 92 she had a turnover rate of 92% of her staff well if you look back to some of the stories we just talked about and you looked at the fact that she had someone who was doing inexcusable things for six years and she let it go despite the complaints of The Da working underneath her that tells you something about how her manager style is going to be too and maybe that's why the Democrats want her maybe they want someone who's just going to let things go and not ask too many questions but I want someone who I feel that is actually running the country I want someone who is going to be strong we've been in we've been in weakness now for four years so we need someone who's going to be in charge of of the Departments that they're running that they're going to have some accountability for the cabinet secretaries that they appoint exactly look and the thing that's is so striking when you read you know you read these accounts of what she's like is that she's just not engaged in anything in a serious way and then she blames the staff for not telling her the information that they actually gave to her but she couldn't be bothered to dig into and so that's not a sign of someone that you can have confidence is going to run things in an effective way the other thing is just the the the there's the I saw this interview on CNN actually where they went back to one of the it was the it was the cop that was killed but this is going back to San Francisco da and there was a controversy because she didn't request the death death penalty and actually Dian Feinstein who was then the senator um for California and but from San Francisco former mayor of San Francisco was really upset about it and kind of stood with the co kind of you know didn't publicly berate her over it but really sent a message that the da KLA Harris should have requested the death penalty and there was an interview with the Widow just now and the other thing that you know not just the decision itself but the fact that she didn't reach out to the off you know to the to the to the family um personally in any way and then it was just reminded me so much of that interview that disastrous interview she did with Lester hole when he asked her about going to the border and she gave this you remember this ridiculous flimflam well we I haven't been to Europe we have but also it wasn't like I it was like we have been like who's we you know like the what are you talking about she gave an answer like that when when they said did you did you reach out to the family said we reached out you know our office went through the protocols or whatever and it's just the same kind of slippery you know evasion of The Big Machine responsibility I think you know what you're touching on there I think is is so important it just really hit me as you were saying that so because I think the Democrats are using these transactional actors these these people who are the machines they are not personally connecting to anything this is if you look back at Biden checking his watch when the bodies of those military members come back from Afghanistan when you aren't making the decisions the blood isn't on your hands right and so if you're not personally connected to something you may not feel that ownership and maybe that's the risk also of having a big machine operate the country instead of one person I mean I look at president Trump and you can say what you will about what he says or how he says it but every time at at least the times that these highly publicized cases with illegal immigrants killing women or or these these gold star families president Trump was there every single time and he wasn't even president um I think that you can say what you will but he feels a personal responsibility that's missing from kamla Harris that's missing from Joe Biden and I think it is because that party is being run by the big machine so there is no personal accountability for what happens and it's actually it's a really broad Point as well which is something I've always felt about the the left increasingly is that they've become so ideological that they actually don't care about the human impact of things you know it's not it's not about individual people and they talk about the people the whole time but actually they see it as a kind of generic thing not not as individuals I mean it's a perfect example I mean if you just even drill that kind of same thing down to California Politics California politics which we've seen one party rule in our state for such a a long time when Gavin Newsome and I know you're going to be talking about this when Gavin Newsome talks about homelessness he's always talking about the money they've spent there's never really like qu like stories of the human impact of homelessness or for instance there was a story and it was such a silly one about the metro in Los Angeles which I keep laughing on our local show we need to make that into a regular segment there is so much crime on the Metro it's like you need a from the crime blot just Metro Edition and one of the things that they were touting as an accomplishment because security and and crime is so bad on the Metro is that they're actually installing taller gates at the Metro and that they're leaving the elevator doors open which obviously means people who are disabled can't use the elevator because they don't want criminal activity to happen in in the elevator and I was thinking to myself as they're celebrating this literally the story was that someone got stabbed in front of the metro station in North Hollywood where they're actually celebrating that these they have these big tall Gates installed to help protect the people on the Metro last Thursday somebody gets stabbed as they're having this celebration I mean this is how out to lunch and how separated they are from what's really happening we need politicians who are connected and actually take accountability for the stuff that's happening don't celebrate a 10-foot gate while someone is getting stabbed up the escalator I mean it's ridiculous but it's so true I mean it's like they there's no they are totally it's a great point they're just divorced from reality and so they they sort of tell this narrative oh we're the the social justice people and we care and we compassion it's horrible cruel Republicans and trumps and monstrum whatever meanwhile in the state that they run with you know one party rule everything everything's a disaster and and the people that they claim to represent are hurt the most and and then but they're focused on all this political stuff like I mean the the last example then we better wrap it up but just to I mean just um this was overnight we're taping this on Monday morning the 29th of July just overnight thing popped up which is so Elon Musk retweeted this F sort of parody ad of Carmela Harris did you see this and it's funny and it's so obvious I didn't know all the the first time I was aware of this story was Gavin Nome Tweeting or posting that he's going to sign a bill making it illegal to distribute stuff like this AI fake whatever like that that's what and the ad was something like um K Harris is now the nom because Biden's decrepit or it was in her voice but it was like okay so then so then oh and I thought oh that's really terrible if they're trying to pass it off as a carela Harris ad right I agree that's terrible I'm not sure you know the law is the right way to deal with it but still that's not a good thing so then I must see this ad that Gavin yome is saying should be illegal right okay so then I went and I found it on and then I did a few stories it's it's so obviously a joke so obviously it's funny actually it's clearly like and and actually what's so amazing about it is that the ad says it literally I mean you talking about Di and then the whole thing is about well obviously I was in her voice you I was a diversity hire and then I only you know got this because finally Joe admitted his senility and you know went on and on like this it's just obvious that she wouldn't say this like you've got to be you know demented to think that this is like anyone would think that this is anything other than a joke it's like an impressionist you know are we going to ban them you know when you have people do Impressions like on TV what's this about anyway as I pointed out then and I sort of reposted I said look okay so right now here here in California we have just among other things America's highest unemployment highest homelessness and highest poverty rate but never mind about any of that what really matters is making it illegal to mock kamla Harris and that's what they're focused on and maybe maybe Gavin's dense enough not to realize it was a joke but you know what if you fall for stuff like that you got to look in the mirror it was so clearly fake it's just it's so silly it's sort of you know it it it is exactly what I was just talking about the Metro is worried about saving a150 and getting that fair than they are they're more concerned about that than they are about the stabbings that are happening on the platform that's gavan Nome more concerned about preventing people from laughing at a fake ad than he is about solving homelessness or our failing schools or the crime problem it's perfect it's just unbeliev it is isn't it it's it's really I I think I'm afraid that's how there you are you see we're we're in sying I I that was the last word of my I just put unbelievable which is a one of those words I I regular listeners will know I say all the time and then I always correct myself and say no it's totally believable because this is who they are and we should just you know not be surprised anymore that this is how they behave anyway um great great to see you Jen we'll do a we'll we should do a an AI version of the show and see if Gavin ban that actually you know what we'll take a vacation week and we'll see how it we'll see how it goes and then see what Gavin has to say of course if it's us he'd probably be fine he'll be like ah who cares just don't mess with kamla exactly great to see you you too all right joining us for candidate Corner today Joanna Garcia Rose she is running for State Assembly we are taping Candidate Corner this on Monday July the 29th and I'm very excited I'm going to be actually with you in your District uh for an event to support you tomorrow Tuesday um but just so we'll get together then and that's going to be great but just to in to our audience across California in the country just uh tell them about yourself and your district and why you're running and why this Race Matters um well I just I'm Joanna Garcia Rose and I'm the candidate in Assembly District 27 that's uh able to beat the incumbent in the primary and we are moving forward in a really positive direction I decided to run when I was working as a tax auditor for ED for the State of California and I just thought you know who's who's auditing the legislature we're auditing all of these employers and businesses and making sure they're paying their fair share of payroll taxes but I'm seeing all this waste and um you know fiscal irresponsibility so who's going to the assembly to uh make sure that they're doing their jobs and and being responsible so I decided um you know there wasn't anyone running against this incumbent and I decided uh with some encourage ment that it would be a good opportunity to give people a choice that's amazing the Ed for those who know Employment Development Department the Employment Development Department absolutely disastrous performance in the pandemic and I mean you'll probably tell us generally but famous for for just you know I mean I can't even remember now the totals of of money that was kind of wasted and yes I worked in the audit division so I would audit employers and their payroll taxes um but we got kind of repurposed during covid we were all sent home and you know to people in the department it wasn't employees fault and it wasn't you know disasters for us we were just kind of doing what what came top down we were just following orders so the orders were we had Antiquated systems we had understaffing because we were at the lowest unemployment we had been in a long time and then we got inundated with literally millions of claims in like 24hour periods and so everyone got redirected to push this through but um there was definitely a lot of of oversight and protections in the chaos of trying to make sure that people got got their money you know they they were hearing the stories of the the working mom who was at home and had children starving so it became this like blanket okay push everything through get everyone money right away but then we had all these felons that were in prison um collecting unemployment who obviously they couldn't really work so they were committing fraud when they were answering the questions but there was no way to track it uh in real time and that should have definitely been caught on to a little bit f by the higher ups so where so where's the district where tell us a little bit about that this district is Three Counties Merced Madera and Fresno County so it comes uh basically from delh high off of 99 all the way down to um Kinga off i5 and it kind of straddles between 99 and uh I5 through um through Madera and Fresno so it includes almost all of Merced County and then the West half of Madera and the West half of Fresno so that's a big and big agriculture District Central Valley yes it's one of the largest uh probably in the world actually there are some other other Industries within the area but everything kind of stems back to agriculture even if there's you know production plants like we have a Morning Star uh tomato processing plant that's one of the world's largest processing plants and that's um headquarters uh is in mered County I believe and they have a ton of employees but it's still stemmed off you know the agriculture production of tomatoes and so so this is Running for Congress your first for into politics um not technically it's my first fora into politics where we're going to be successful okay so uh I graduated law school back in 2013 and I was farming and water well drilling with my uh first husband and I just was really frustrated about the water policy and I did not like our Congressman Jim Costa who uh had been our Congressman in that area for a long time I was living in chachilla still in the district um and so I decided the consti and I could run for Congress I was old enough and so I was going to run for Congress and there was three other gentlemen with the Republican Party running so it's a very crowded uh ticket but I gave it a good effort and I wasn't successful in the primary um unfortunately but Johnny tashera I'm sure you remember him was uh the candidate that went forward and he he was very close he probably did technically beat uh Jim Costa but you know they always find a thousand votes at the end of the day so in order for republicans to win in California you got How is your race looking to win by a lot so how how's it looking how's your race looking what tell us what are the Dynamics of it it looks really good it is um it's a I think 16-point lead Democrat District but it's kind of skewed because there's a lot of people I think that left the Republican party that are still conservative it's 43% Democrat uh 27% Republican and 23% declined to State and independent in terms of registration yes in terms of registration um the turnout in the primary was 30% uh the incumbent claims it was a higher Republican turnout in the primary and that's why she lost by 1,55 votes almost two percentage points um but I I don't believe that's true because I know a lot of uh Independents and and Democrats who had said they voted so I I think we have a really good opportunity to flip this seat it was uh a Democrat stronghold for a long time but it's also 66% Latina community and uh my family my father's grandmother all of those people are very conservative when it comes to family moral values and what we're what we're seeking um for you know day-to-day life the American dream and and making things prosperous for our children so I think there's an opportunity and so do you and tell us a Kamalas family history little bit about that and and and your family history um and and that let because because it's such a big part of the conversation about politics and California the Latino vote and so on um so my maiden name is Garcia the rose is my husband's last name which is Portuguese uh so the Garcia comes from Mexico my father's um grandmother immigrated uh with her brothers to um America they actually went to Iowa and his father was born in 1927 the first generation here in America born in Iowa and then he uh went on uh to serve in the military actually during World War II the day after he turned 17 my great-grandmother had to sign the permission slip so he could deploy because he just really wanted to fight for our country and and holding our freedoms and then he served until um his death I believe it was like 77 uh when he passed away he had a a blood clot um that went to his heart and he ended up passing away before before my parents were married but um he played a really crucial role in kind of I think my dad's upbringing and uh his mother um always had her Green Card she never had citizenship she didn't speak much English according to my mom um but they communicated and they ended up moving in the late 70s to California down to Orange County um and I believe I still have cousins that are down in that that area but that was kind of how my family came to California and so you know the American dream is important and crucial and it needs to be shared but there's there's protocols and there's rules and if we take away those protocols or rules where do we draw that line of what's acceptable and what's not acceptable so you know even though I'm not running for congress and I don't affect the Border it's a number one topic here in California that people ask me so you Immigration said 66% Latino in your district is that right get that yeah so let's talk about that particular issue because you're right there and you really experience it um and and you're in touch with with all sides of the argument so the thing that you hear all the time is with this issue of immigration and citizenship and status and so on is in in particular it's almost always the one that's cited which is the AG agriculture industry right where you are it couldn't function without illegal immigrants and so it's just and and you can criticize the policies that have led us to this point some combination of the open border and the messed up immigration system and you have Democrats saying the whole time we need comprehensive immigration reform and so on but in the end in a just a day-to-day practical sense the conversation you hear is yeah but like you we we have to find some way of making this okay because our whole industry depends on workers many many of whom are here illegally so what how does that issue play out for you and your campaign um for me I get to reference my congressman who's a conservative John DTE and his his policy and and plan as far as immigration goes and I'm supportive of that he kind of has a three-step approach which part of it does include the you know terrible word amnesty that a lot of people don't like but there has to be some sort of a pathway um just because I kind of think of things uh I have a three-year-old son so I kind of think of things on toddler status if I leave cookies down at the at the table that he can reach I can't then punish him for coming over and eating a cookie because he's three and he sees a cookie right there so if we don't secure our border are we really going to penalize people in a way that's that's irreprehensible for coming over here they know it's better here they came here with their family and then you start kind of getting to the point where you have these multi-generational issues where you know right now there's people that are my age that were born here um and their parents came over illegally and their parents are still illegal but their parents are probably providing their child care while they work a job that pays into taxes and they be you know conformed positive citizens in America and when you say cart blanch like like they say oh we're g to just Mass Deport everyone that that shouldn't be the case because we don't want to rip apart families I I definitely agree with mass deporting everyone that came over recently and everyone who's a criminal or rapist or has mental health issues and you know we need to have some sort of care in the way that we do that because we need to make sure that you know we're deporting the rapists back to their country and we're notifying their government if their government chooses to do nothing with that person that's on them for their future crimes in that country but um we need to stop spending our taxpayer money on providing a lifestyle especially here in California I had to change jobs uh in order to stay in the race it was a hatch violation working for Ed because they get Federal funding so I work for cdcr which is California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation I'm the high uh security business manager here and I know it's $132,000 per year to incarcerate a person and what that means is they get uh air conditioning they get um heating they get a tablet they get education they get all of these opportunities no matter what their crime was whether it was a little drug crime or a a serious you know murder uh and rape and whether they were a child rapist or not and so like the incumbent I'm running against voted no for the bill that bill aale tried to pass that eliminated Sanctuary status for convicted um sex offenders of minors so not all sex offenders just the ones raping our kids and that we would have to be able to let ice know and be able to deport them back to where they pay for it's amazing isn't it and you know I just I have friends that um have family you know down in z in different areas of Mexico and they they're kind of Off the Grid on the big grandpa's farm without you know the same Commodities that we have electricity running water all of those things are a little bit different down there so I'm sitting there watching these people that are incarcerated in a California prison living their best life suring the internet and then you know they raped a child when we could just Deport them back to whatever third world country they came from and it would be zero dollars zero dollars for taxpayers to do DWTE Plan that it's a great point it's a very clear what about the can you tell us a little bit about about the the let's call it the DW the dwte plan that you you you agree with because I think that's very I mean you've obviously touched on elements of it just lay it out in so DTE was in support of securing the Border we need to secure the Border I'm absolutely in support of that most people I know are in support of that we need to have a secure border we need to know who's coming in when they're coming in and why they're coming in how they're coming in that has to happen um but we also need to have um have more doors open as I call it the you know my version of the dwarte plan is we need to have more doors open and you see all these apps you can you can literally go online now and and do your dfb paperwork you can go online and do certain things within governmental agencies scan documents so why is it that we're not going to use technology to our advantage and and streamline the process for people coming here legally so that we know who's here we also need to have a plan that deals with who's here right now we can't just send every single person back we don't want to rip apart families and the sample I have of that uh my husband's neighbor before we were married she's an American citizen she was pregnant with their second child her husband had a green part he was working a job in the Central Valley in agriculture um and his green card expired I don't know if this was during Trump or the beginning of Biden but he went back to Mexico because he wanted to obey the law and be compliant um and he couldn't get back until he could get his his paperwork process she was 6 months pregnant he met his son who's like three or four years old for the first time last year that is ridiculous to me he should have been able to be there for his wife she had a a child under two and was pregnant and on her own because her husband was following the law and being back in Mexico until they could get the paperwork processed with the attorneys for him to return home so you know it's situations like that that that I think the left can use against us because that those are heart shattering situations and we need to have we need to have empathy and we need to have Grace and we need to have a process it should not take um it should not take that long I even know my uh first husband got remarried and she was from Thailand and I think it was six months to a year before he could get her to the states with her visa and that's just it doesn't seem like that long but if you think about how long would you want to spend apart from your significant other or your child that's a long time that's yes you know that's not right so we we have to we have to shift where our resources are going and we need to focus on being secure and making there be a quick pathway for people to come here not necessarily permanently just make there be a know who's here who's working who's going to school just to try and there used to be I mean what's What Can Be Done at the California Level the what's the sort of concept there in terms of um you know the because you meant you're right that word amnesty is the word that kind of you know makes any conversation about this so complicated and I think because I I you know I wasn't here when when much of this happened but I I I've talked to enough people and I've heard from enough people that one of the one of the reasons that people feel so strongly about this is that they feel that they were betrayed that in the past they were sold a combination of we will secure the Border as and we'll give amnesty to the people who are here but we will secure the border so it does so the amnesty doesn't create an incentive for more people to come illegally but basically only one part of that was done so effectively people left did nothing happened to them but the Border wasn't secure and so more and more people came and and and I I think that's this sense of betrayal that people feel and just don't trust the politicians what can be done at the California level about any I mean if you're in the legislature is there anything you or your colleagues there could do about any of this it's going to be tough in California unless we flip a lot more seats they've had a super majority for a long time but I do think the time is Shifting where people are getting frustrated I have a lot of friends working for the government and just you know my childhood uh being raised I have a lot of friends who are on the other side of the spectrum as far as you know socially and politically um and even those people are like well maybe we should listen to the Republicans and be fiscally responsible right now because you know we have a billions and billions of dollars of a deficit in the state of California and it's crazy because we just had billions of dollars of a surplus in the state of California and so we could technically kind of do what Texas and other states have done that are border states where we um create our own security because we want to shore up what's happening here in California um we're going to need to flip a lot of seats and we're going to need to change a lot of Minds in order to accomplish that here in the state of California so for me personally why I'm running and what my focuses are um are just kind of bringing people back to reality I want fiscal responsibility and management across the board all the time with all government agencies within the state of California whether it's a surplus or a deficit it it has to run and be functional in a way that preserves taxpayer dollars and also still gets the services that are necessary provided we need to look at our education system what are we spending money on and and where are the priorities I want my three-year-old when he starts school to learn history science math reading and writing we have so many children right now that literally can't even read or write I've had countless employers across this Valley talk to me about how they have an 18-year-old straight out of high school and they hand him a onepage two-page application and it takes them hours to fill it out and they have no idea so you know that's that's very disconcerning to me as as a mother because you know children should have an opportunity to thrive and do well and you shouldn't have to go to college to do it you should be given tools right out the gate when you graduate high school to at least do something I was able to work a job while I was in high school and able to get jobs After High School based on my skills and ability you know I get better jobs now that I have all these degrees and all these college credits but um I could still get a good job when I graduated and I don't think that's the case right now for a lot of our youth and and the crime situation you know I was just telling someone about that the other day Newsome and everyone's touting crime is great there's no crime we've had the lowest numbers ever well that's kind of like saying everyone's getting an a in a class if you change the scoring Matrix sure everyone can get in an a in a class I took a chemistry class in college the highest grade in that class was probably a 60% I got a C with a 49% why because there was a a curve so if we use the same Matrix we were using 20 or 30 years ago on judging crime in California versus today I guarantee you crime is crime is off the charts but we're not using those same Matrix because it doesn't make the people in charge look good it's so frustrating because at the same time that all these things are moving in the wrong direction the outcomes on education on crime on everything um and this is to your point about the auditing function that needs to happen the actual budget of the State of California has nearly doubled in the in the last 10 years it's an amazing fact you even after inflation and you think well where's the money gone everything's worse the population hasn't increased not by much it's basically flat they've doubled the budget effectively and you just think where's the money and and it's just it's so infuriating and it's our money and we look around and everything's worse it's I mean that's why it sounds like we need you there businesses incentivize people to be you know if you're a business owner you're incentivized to be efficient and effective why because you get higher profit and bigger margins you make more money we do not do that in the government we need to incentivize people to save money not penalize them in the state of California I've literally seen I was tracking something uh the other day they spent $15 million on it uh some furniture for institutions and I said well there's a bunch of storage you know why did we spend $15 million shouldn't we have spent maybe eight or 10 like did we need all this extra stuff and they said oh well you know that was the year we had all that money and if we didn't spend it we lost it wait what so you literally spent billions millions of dollars on furniture that we didn't necessarily need because you were afraid to give it back and and that's okay that's human nature we all have that you know you're not going to want to give something to your sibling or your your friend or your parents that you could keep but we need to we need to create a kind of like a bank account when you save your money you get to be rewarded for that so if we had all these agencies and departments which there's no shortage of them the ones that we have I've worked at quite a few um where they were incentivized to be able to save there's a threshold on the amount you can put in savings that's crazy why you know there there should be maybe like a fiveyear window where after you've saved X dollar it needs to have a turnover or something like that but we need to incentivize agencies it's a brilliant point and and goes to the heart of of of why everything's such a mess actually and it's not the staff I work with I've worked in EPA headquarters for Department of toxic substance control I've worked at the actual prison both men and women's in Shia Chilla I work here at cdcr headquarters I worked for ED for a long time I've worked at several different places and the staff are great the staff know how to do their jobs everyone talks you know poorly sometimes about you know government workers state workers but it's not us we have to follow what the legislature tells us to do we have to follow what our governor leaders there's appointed secretaries there's appointed um positions of leadership and so we have to follow all of those um all of those directives from these higher levels and they are not cost effective they do not make any sense to me I mean I've seen ab5 was coming down when I worked at Ed and it I mean that was such a mess they had to do all these different trainings um I remember Uber Uber workers were an employee and then they got legislation passed so then they weren't an employee so there was a 10-month window when they were an employee uh and the rest of the time they're independent contractors to me that's insane they should have really uh when the legislature is passing regulations you really need to reach out to agencies that you're you're governing and figure out what makes sense there needs to be a better dialogue and a bigger involvement I mean even at sex offender management board when I was at cdcr headquarters the first time there was a loophole if you were a sex offender you were put on parole for X time well if you were on parole for like five years for raping children um you you could just go to a convenience store and maybe use a knife or do something lowlevel get back to prison and serve a six-month sentence and then when you got out your new parole trumped the old parole and so we couldn't get they couldn't get anyone at the time back then in the legislature to fix that loophole and you don't think these people talk when they have nothing better to do but educate themselves on how to be better criminals they get all the law books they get all these resources so you know it's just frustrating because it's like I met um I hosted I was an analyst for that department so we had regular monthly meetings with all these law enforcement leaders from chief of police and La um up the whole state and it's like they all saw this problem why didn't anyone come to this board before they passed the legislation like why didn't the legislature come to this board and say this is what we're going to do do you see any issues absolutely brilliant you see I you'll be so valuable there because you really know how it all works and and why it doesn't work but it just I mean I I'll we got to leave it there Jen and I have feeling we'll be talking a lot more but I just want to leave you with one one thought and it connects to an issue very close to your heart and your community there which is water so so at my policy organization golden together we publish these policy reports we do roughly one a month and the the latest one is on water it's just coming out shortly and so as I you know I've been doing the policy work on it and you know we you know we we're not the Govern we don't have any resources we you know but we read and we talk to people and we get input and so we've we've they're pretty sort of short and you know specific these policy documents and I just remember think well I'll about what we need to have a abundant water in California so we've got this pretty short document it's full of these are the specific projects right we need this we need to build this uh this storage and incorporate this thing you know like highly specific and then I thought and I read and I watched something Gavin us talk about water and how we're doing all this great stuff on water so I thought well and they referenced the the water plan the state of California's water plan so I better read it you know just to make sure I'm across what they're doing and maybe they're doing some good things and we should say that or we I don't want to duplicate what they're what they're doing so I got this document it's I don't know 250 Pages something like that I actually couldn't believe what I say I kept sort of going through it reading it and then I then I was skimming it I was trying to like well where are the projects where are the specifics where are the actual things that they're going to do and like it was stunning to me there's like hardly anything in there that's actually practical it's endless agencies developing strategies and formulating plans and liasing with other agencies and coordinating and this and that and equity and on and on he said well what are you actually doing and and it sort of suggested to me that actually when you look into the government bureaucracy in these agencies it's just armies of people who are just talking and writing documents and Publishing strategies and doing nice kind of PowerPoint slides or whatever but not actually doing anything California um is unique in a lot of things uh we are I believe one of the greatest States probably the greatest state in the nation because of our diversity of our regions you can go from the snow to a desert to a beachfront uh you know to the mountains you can you can be in Prime farmland and water um that's actually why I initially did that little run for Congress is because I took species protection and policy in law school and I took water law and I was very motivated about the issues to do with The Endangered Species Act and all the Federal Regulations because those those were created when there was an opportunity um in the 70s they didn't have the same science we have now so it's like oh this animal's dying we got to stop that right now everything until we figure it out but now we have science we have things where we can mitigate and you know when they were prioritizing ad Delta schmelt I was sitting there wondering what about the raran river rabbits and rats and the indigenous to the Central Valley they don't get any of this runoff because we're protecting the schmelt which is really just you know a BS cover up for for dealing with the fact that they pollute the Delta and they need to um you know they don't want to pay for new waste development processing plants uh in those areas because that would be undue burden on those Societies in that area so they instead burden Us in the Central Valley and you know I hate to get I hate to get biblical but there's a thing in the Bible about the um seven years of famine that um happens after the seven years of feast and so if you are smart if you are resourceful and and follow God's plan you will Preserve what's necessary during your seven years of abundance so that you can you can survive the seven years of famine and to me California is on that cycle over and over and over again I was water well drilling for quite a while I don't technically still do it I have a couple projects that I still work on but um I was out there actually drilling awells um a thousand feet deep in the ground I've never not hit water but I was out there doing that and it was just frustrating because there's been no new resource and yet taxpayers has asked that there should be we voted DEC before I could even vote there was legislation to create new water storage and have additional water but I think it's done on purpose if you keep people fighting if you keep things scarce you can maintain control how do I control my child I say do you want to do that no what if mommy gives you three Skittles if he had a whole bag of Skittles in his room would he care when I offer him three Skittles no he wouldn't so want to keep our water our water limited because then we have to do what they say we have to buy into all these bureaucracies they're just additionally taxing us it's a never ending tax it's never going to go away putting it so you know we need to focus on D California is probably one of the easiest states to be a prime example of how deregulation could help oh yeah instead of adding additional laws to fix the other laws you know if you get an outfit you stain it you ruin it you tear it at some point you're going to stop putting patches on that dress because you can't cover it up it's going to look hideous eventually you just got to get some new material and build an make another dress and so you know it's frustrating because the state of California just tries to legislate our way out of our problems and the legislature and our our all these rules and regulations this overregulation is kind of what has led us to these problems so do we need to be fiscally responsible do we need to be you know good stewards of our environment protect animals make sure there's balance and stuff yes we do and we have great science to help us do that but we don't need to draft additional bureaucracy and legislation to accomplish that we need to reduce what's there and we need to see um what will work in place of it well I couldn't have said about it myself I so violently agree with you uh some of the work we've done at Gold together exactly on that people can follow that by the way if you want to check out the Water Report or our previous one we on making California the best business climate in America rather than the worst which is what it is now because of all this regulation that's at Golden together.com but before we go Joanna please tell everyone where they can follow you and your campaign and get involved everything for the campaign is Joanna for thee Valley so you can go to Joanna forthe valley.com my Facebook I think Twitter Instagram those are all Joanna forth Valley um definitely always looking for additional support this is a unique race because the incumbent is uh the number two fundraiser compared to Robert Rivas who's the leader of the assembly um on the Democrat side so it's a big big challenge but we won the Primary we can win again in November we don't need the $10 million she's going to try to spend to beat me we don't we don't need anywhere near that because Republicans conservatives are are smart with their money we're responsible with our money so we need a little bit of money to print materials and and get the message out but people are hungry in California for this message people are ready for a change and balance I don't want to see us flip I mean I would love to see us flip but let's be real but I don't expect to see us flip so I but I we need to be balanced we can't have a super majority exactly fantastic jna I'm really really excited to see you in person um again tomorrow um spend some time with you in the in the district um and for now thank you so much for for joining us today that was a great conversation really appreciate it all right so you know we were talking earlier about democracy well one of the foundational elements of a real democracy I know we're a republic please don't write in um but a democratic system uh where the people are in control Free Press and for a few glorious weeks in America it felt like we actually had a free press where um the media was reporting on the news fairly and honestly and that and the and the little window of light that we had was between that presidential debate the Biden debate and a week ago a weekend ago when KLA Harris when Biden stepped out and KLA Harris took over and for a few weeks we had a media that was accurately reporting on what was going on with the president and the Democratic party and it no longer was what has been the case for so long which is basically state-run media in America supporting the Democratic party but that's all all gone now and we're back to where we were which is state run media which is the Democratic party's media arm being most of the media that you see the mainstream media as we call it it's the Democratic party um it's their propaganda operation and it's just so unbelievably gross if you watch the way they sort of Fanboys and fan girls for Comon oh it's amazing she's raised all this money she's got all this enthusiasm oh isn't it incredible and she's got all these memes and they're taking did you fall out of you know do you think you fell out of the coconut tree and turning it into something great and all the rest of it and there's no better or worse example of it than of course the total Shameless Brazen gaslighting from the media to help her over one of her biggest vulnerabilities which of course is the border and the fact that this was the main concrete substantive job that she was given to do um in her years as vice president and had nothing but calamitous failure and so they're pretending it never happened and she was never asked to do this job I mean it's just so outrageous we need to remind ourselves what they're exactly doing and saying let's take a look she was put in charge of the Border nope she was in put put in charge of reaching out to the South and Central American countries to stem the immigration she wasn't the bordar she was not actually the borders are she is not the borders are she was not the bordar she was not the bordar let's be very clear there was no there was no borders are and then it's even more embarrassing I mean you have you have axio for example totally humiliating themselves saying well we were among the media organizations who incorrectly reported that she was the porar and they're even correcting their own coverage because it was unhelpful to carela Harris now I mean the whole thing is a complete joke there's only one thing to say about this which is thank goodness for Independent Media for technology for Elon Musk for buying X so you can get the truth out there and for platforms that enable shows like this to operate and many many others Independent Media not controlled by these Gatekeepers who are now so obviously in the tank for Cara they literally are effectively part of the democratic party but that's why we need you to keep supporting this show and others like it we do appreciate that that is our show for today um do please follow us on Apple Spotify YouTube wherever you get your podcast tell everyone about the Steve Hilton show and Big Ideas Book Club um some great conversations on there as well and we'll see you back here next week for the next episode of The Steve Hilton show [Music]
