Clippers Owner Steve Ballmer fired up after officialy open the Clippers new home "Intuit Dome" today

[Applause] good afternoon everybody now I have to tell you that um I have 50 52 years of Municipal service ran three police departments been the mayor it's my fourth term and I've seen a lot the for Sofi YouTube theater this is our fourth venue in 10 years and let me tell you something this is the most exciting time there is met Steve Balmer and Dennis Wong in January of 2016 at the Ritz Carlton and Marina Del Ray to discuss some land that we had in Englewood at that time we were only talking about what possibilities there could be then I met Gillian Zucker the most intense CEO I've ever met in my life she in a quiet way equals the energy of Steve balber and this man this man and his organization provided the richest Community benefits agreement in the history of sports $100 million for the city of Eng by the way Gillian I love the fact that you're the most intense CEO because I always get feedback from my team you're the most intense CEO and the moment I heard that I looked back at my team and I was like she is the most intense CEO but perhaps more intense than Gillian is the man with the vision Steve Balmer damn I'm fired up I have to say um I'm a little anxious tonight I love what we built but I want all of you to love what we built I know you they like to mention Tech can I tell you what tech means tech means software and I'm really hoping it all works tonight really be a small just a small idea and it won't I done version one of many software products so bear with us just bear with us if you need to we're all over to help tonight but it is a just such a pleasure and privilege to have a chance to welcome you here when I first bought the business uh the LA Clipper basketball team I said to myself one of the great things about buying the Clippers is we never need to build an arena I said look all these teams they sell you got to build Arenas we're never going to have to do that isn't that wonderful well it took about 6 months to realize it might be a good idea to have our own house that seemed wise I wouldn't have the courage I wouldn't have the fortitude heck I didn't even work on the house remodel that we did my wife did thanks to her but my partner Dennis W sitting here in the front row Dennis in the real estate business and he said come on we' known each other since 1975 come on we can do this bomber let's go and I said okay okay we need our own house but I've been involved in the design of a lot of products this is the product where I had the most clear view of what we should do and if you don't like it it's my clear view and if you do like it it's gilad's clear view but for a live event specifically anchoring in sports what is it that people want they want a place of energy if you don't want energy you can stay home and enjoy entertainment at home it's got to be a place of excitement people coming together people bringing their own intensity to the experience it's got to be a place of intimacy you really want to feel that s sense of community now each of these things you can say BL BL BL BL BL adjective adjective but no every one of those things influences the shape of the bull the design of the bull then people say I want Creature Comforts I don't want it to take forever to go to the bathroom I don't want it to take forever it should be like my living room I get up I grab it I want to eat drink use the bathroom get back in my seat and not have half half time time or quarter break expire on me that should be how it is now we haven't tested it at scale but man have we done a lot of simulation with all the toilets and all the markets and everything we put in it should be like being at home not like you know okay well you know as they say in software we'll ship 6 months later we have to be in now there was no choice and if we hadn't been working with mayor buts with the city council hearing Englewood with the elected officials from this area all the folks who helped us there's no chance this Arena would be built could it have been built someplace in Southern California other than Englewood we never ran the test I bet no and I want to thank the mayor the city council and everybody for their help I want to thank our staff we do have the finest basketball facil practice facility in the world world I think I could say that with confidence it might be even a little bigger and fancier than I was expecting it to be but guess what that's okay it's the office it's not only the office for our front office guys it's the office for our players we had to make that the absolute best we possibly could I want to thank our coach coach was uh just back from Paris I'm sure he won't tell you but I actually said to him before he left hey no gold medal don't come back I'm really glad we run that gold medal cuz I was going to follow through on that that was BS from the Geto I want to thank all the staff on Gillian's team hey Gillian you're back guy thank you all to join tonight gold slips three now
