right after the debate Taylor Swift Unleashed a surprise endorsement there aren't very many celebrities who can really say okay this might move the needle in the case of Taylor Swift I think part of the Allure of her endorsement is that she is one of the most popular and Powerful figures and icons in the world if there is anything we know about Taylor Swift it is that she and her team are incredibly smart and calculating in terms of when they release uh these types of announcements they try to release I think for Maximum Impact Pennsylvania is where she was born Pennsylvania is also a critical critical swing state and so if we were to guess as to when and how could she have the most impact it would probably be to endorse before the voter registration deadline occurs and that's exactly what she did she included a link to vote.org in her Instagram post hundreds of thousands of people did visit vote.org through through the link that Terror Swift provided that doesn't tell us how many people actually did register to vote as a result of that but as we've learned in past elections we're talking about relatively small number of Voters that can really matter in some of the Swing states that are going to decide this election for many many years Taylor deliberately chose not to get involved in politics because she didn't endorse in 2016 people have been really eager uh to see her come forward in 2018 she endorsed for the first time in a Tennessee senate election and then she sort of more subtly endorsed Joe Biden in 2020 the Harris campaign is obviously excited about this endorsement I am incredibly grateful first of all to Taylor Swift I say that also as a cat owner a fellow cat owner uh they sent out a fundraising email for the first time trying to fundra off of the Swift endorsement it might move a few people to register and to vote that might not have uh without Taylor's endorsement
