United Airlines flight attendants vote for strike

United customers. This is not expected to impact your Labor Day travels but it is something to keep an eye on the airlines. Flight attendants overwhelmingly voted in favor of strike authorization. It's the first time attendance from United have authorized a strike since 2005. Their demands include a double digit pay increase plus improvements in job security, retirement and schedule flexibility. We have been in three years of negotiations with very minimal progress from a corporation that is making billions on the backs of their front line workers. United told ABC news there is quote, no work stoppage or labor disruption. We asked United how many of its flight attendants work out of Iowa and if any flights from the Des Moines airport could be impacted. They sent us a statement saying quote, we continue to work toward an industry leading agreement for our flight attendants including negotiations this week and every month through November. United Airlines did not directly confirm how the Des Moines Airport could be affected.
