hello everybody RV living with the gezer I'm still out here at Fort Richardson State Park in jaboro Texas and uh yeah here we have a little plaque right when you first walking in says uh it was reconstructed in 1936 but the fort was established in 1867 as protection of the frontier against hostile Indians and it didn't last long it was abandoned on May 23rd 1876 as the line of settlement had passed on Westward so let's just walk back over here be real quick it's starting to warm up let's see here if you haven't seen my video of their uh RV sites I they've got some nice V sites here if anybody's interested okay there's a restroom on that end oh this is the interpretive Center [Applause] okay and these were these were the barracks officers and non-commissioned officers lived in Barracks like this there used to be five of these at the Fort well I'll let youall read it everybody watches my videos can read probably there we go and then is there a certain Trail you got to what else have we got they're they're restoring something over here looks like huh I looked on the map they have the typical you know they've got the officer quarters and uh Fort Davis out there has really been restored but uh they've got the hospit hospital let's see let's see what yeah they're I guess that's another like Barracks over there let's walk back over see the building way in the back over there that is the um what the M they called it the magazine that's where they uh stored all their uh ammunition and uh uh shells and everything they always put them way in the back in a little rock building in case there was anything you know anything blew up so uh hang on a second guys let's walk over here and see what this big old building is I'll be right back all right here we are let's see what we have here we got the little information sign right here I bet this is like the hospital let's see it's too big to be a yeah this is this was the hospital oh they had malaria and Di malaria and diarrhea were the most common uh diseases this was the biggest and fanciest building at the Fort but it's not a place they wanted to spend much time during World War II this was the home for second Battalion 131st field artillery regiment oh wow they were captured by the Japanese and held prisoner War for 3 [Music] years wow yeah look at this building it's it's pretty good size let's walk over here let's see if I don't think you can go inside no you're not going to be able to get in there let's see if I can see one of these windows [Music] here can we see inside there there's an old like china cabinet thing I guess that's where they have their medical supply guys wonder if this front door is open Fort Richardson has been designated a registered National Historic Landmark hello no they're not going to let me in the hospital that's good Fort Richardson Calvary post Hospital Fort built to Halt Indian depredations in north Texas one of the buildings unit its own inspection in May 1871 by General WM Tuma Sherman when news came a massacre of Warren Wagon Train 24 miles Northwest Killers later found at Fort Seal were brought to trial in Jacksboro firsttime Indians were forever tried in the white man's Court in north Texas wow I bet I know the verdict of that trial and I bet I know the sentence too see what's in here oh look there's somebody standing over there see him I tell you what if y'all I mentioned a while ago if yall haven't been out to see the fort at Fort Davis that is that is really something uh they have I think that is the most restored Fort there is in Texas I don't know what that little building would be there but behind it was that magazine the water tower over there oh look at this that's some of the I guess that's some of the things they use to operate on the uh on the soldiers yeah look at those big old pliers there wow the Fort Davis H Hospital there you can walk inside of it and they got it all the in the officer's quarters you can walk you can walk inside really cool let's see what's in here oh this like a chow dining hall yeah oh boy look at that see can you all see what that says over the door [Music] morg wow yeah it's pretty rough back in those days with that malaria and all that stuff floating around so really they've only got this building that two small ones back there that's a replica of the barracks over there yeah I've got a couple of videos on the Fort Davis uh actually Fort Davis is not a state park it's a National Historic Site and you nowadays you're not supposed to do videos there without a permit but I got in under the law several years ago go back and check out my videos on Fort Davis uh National Historic Site uh and you'll see what I'm talking about I mean it's really it's really Sensational out there I guess that's the right word all right guys there's a Geer mobile way over there so I'm killing time but uh I'll be talking to you later from the hospital here in Jacksboro Texas not in use
