Emma Navarro Press Conference | 2024 US open Semifinal

Emma if you would your thoughts on the match um yeah it was uh a really amazing experience being out there um on ash playing an opponent like her um obviously it's it's disappointing to not be able to get the win today and it looked like uh you know I kind of got my teeth into it there at the end of the second set and I like you know I could definitely push it to a third uh I wasn't able to do so but um you know it was it was an incredible experience an amazing atmosphere and um you know she played really good when it came down to the wire and and uh you know I didn't play as well so um yeah I hope uh hope to be back for sure thank you one question each Richard always tough to lose but I imagine you're walking away from here with a ton of positive top 10 player and I would say this tournament really probably gives you a whole new lease on life yeah um you know it's it's crazy to um have come into this tournament a week and a half almost two weeks ago and um you know I was kind of joking a little bit with my team but a little bit serious as well that um you know I was looking to win one match at the US Open and now to be leaving um having made a run got to the semi-finals and now um I'm a top 10 player it's it's pretty crazy and I think it's a testament to a lot of hard work um so definitely leaving with a lot of positives uh Hey Emma uh well tried um what what did it feel like walking onto the court tonight I mean was it different than the other matches did you feel the sort of gravity of the moment and then what did it feel like sort of going through the match as you sort of get into that first set against your power and then as you say get your teeth into it and you hear the crowd doing what they were doing yeah for sure there was a different feeling walking out there tonight as opposed to uh last two times I played um you know part of it's It's it was a semi-finals part of it it's a night match my first night match on Ash and um you know I'm playing uh an opponent like I did play today it's there's for sure a different feeling um but it's definitely a feeling that um you know maybe I didn't um deal with it 100% um the way I wanted to throughout the match but it's a feeling that um I'll definitely be seeking again and um I think it's it's something that I'll only improve at handling and um yeah it was a pretty amazing uh atmosphere out there Peter Peter New York daily news just how meaningful was it for you to do it here in New York you know where you were born yeah so special um playing in front of the American fans um you know with the American flag next to my name I um have a lot of Pride and in where I come from and um you know being an an American is is something that's really important to me and you know I got to represent the US and the Olympics earlier this year it's it's something that I care a lot about so um to come back and be able to play in the US especially um here in New York City it's it's pretty um incredible and uh it's definitely pushed me to sort of look back at um you know where I started out and and where I'm at now and um I feel like it's only going to um keep getting better so um yeah really special playing here in New York right Louis from the New York Post what are uh some of the things that I guess that you can take from this run and I'm not talking matchup specific to this player or that player but what are some of the things that you can take from this that you can put to use going forward um I think uh something that um you know I've been learning more and more um is that there's um you know pillars to my game and um I think in the past um some of those pillars have sort of been uh day-to-day dependent on how I feel with a certain shot or um you know my confidence level with my game and I think I'm learning more and more that um you know those those pillars of my game are non-negotiables and um you know it's how I play and it's who I am as a player and accepting that if I can't execute um those parts of my game good enough on a given day then you know I can't win that day and and but not um you know sacrificing who I am as a player um and I think in the long run that'll give me the best chance um you know to win matches and have the best results so um maybe long story short just um getting more comfortable and confident in in who I am as a player really you said earlier in the tournament that you had the belief you could win the tournament how did that fuel maybe your comeback in this particular match and what was it like to develop that feeling during this tournament um yeah pretty crazy uh you know kind of talking about winning a grand slam it's it's uh you know something that even just a few months ago I um you know was not even really on my radar um so to now be in a position where you know I'm thinking about and working towards winning Grand Slams is is exciting and it's motivating and um yeah for sure I uh you know I wasn't ready for the match to be over there at 53 I really wanted to stick in there and and keep playing and um you know the crowd got into it which was awesome there at the second set and um yeah it was um maybe a little bit of a learning curve out there you know feeling like um okay I can win this like I'm in this and I'm obviously playing a great opponent but um you know I can push back against her serve and um you know I can be I can um you know get ahead in points and play the aggressive game so um yeah definitely a bit of a learning curve out there we have time for two more Peter and then the tennis.com um em me you you're very rational um person very logical uh and composed so how do you manage your emotions when you go through even in a late stage of a tournament like this when things have got to be going kind of crazy in your head yeah a little bit um I try to um just be super present and um you know I know who I am as a um person and I'm getting more comfortable and confident with who I am as a player and um I have a lot of trust and belief in the team that I have around me and um you know my family is incredibly supportive and they're always in my corner no matter what and you know to them I'm a daughter and and a sister before I am uh a tennis player so I think it's really important for me to um have those people around me that keep me grounded um especially um you know when when things can feel hectic or overwhelming or just out of my control um so yeah I just put a lot of um trust in belief I guess in in the people around me last question thank you Dian castano from the USA um I was wondering about um Arena's forehand speed it was clocking in averaging really high um had you played against her with that kind of pace against her shot did it feel different tonight than it did when you two were matched up previously um I don't think so it didn't really feel different I would say I don't know the m for hour comparison but um yeah I think the last um times I played her it felt um like it was coming pretty big over the net uh towards my side of the court so um yeah not really different but um you know it's obviously huge weapon and um definitely felt that at times today thank you everyone thank you Emma thank you
