Career Readiness at Western Michigan University (WMU) Student into a Professional.

hello everyone my name is Drew maeni I currently go to Western Michigan University and I'm studying in digital marketing and data analytics I will be graduating in the May of 2024 which is coming up I'm pretty excited so today I'm going to be talking to you about myself how Western shaped me in a professional and how Spurs made me more career ready so I am from a small town and Western Michigan I actually coached basketball at my old high school at the JV level which I think this is big throughout Western learning about leadership and how to relate the to these young men and relay it to them which I think that helped me tremendously just learning about it and teaching it so my Western experience I first started at kbcc got my Associates one year out of high school and I went to Western because all my credits transferred and I wanted to save some money so my Western experience I love the fact that every class you're in you have a big group project you're working with people that you never met and you're really just communicating your way through to give a great product which I met so many people outside my cultures and connections I can use throughout my rest of my career so my digital marketing skills I learned everything from SEO to audits on websites through primary research secondary research and also like advertising what what content marketing got to think outside the box sometimes and just think as a marketer I've also had experience with actual clients at Wu like udim which is the United dairy industry of Michigan which we had a case competition to do a full funnel Market from in store through online which it was kind of hard because it was hard to find metrics to track and we had to create Z to trust United dairy industry of Michigan and buy more milk so it was a full funnel campaign through we did primary research um Al with like survey we did secondary research we also did paid media owned media and budgeting for that campaign we also did a hcob audit of their social media and we created some content ideas on how to improve it and pretty much as a consultant so Spurs really helped me because I created a 3060 day 36090 day plan which is essentially having a small goal your 60-day plan you got to complete your 30-day Plan before you get to 60 it's it's just building those steps on top of each other which you're pushing yourself to do more I also was able to put it in a career board which you pretty much just draw it out more longterm though where do you want to see yourself in 5 years like you got to this box has to be completed before you move to the next one sort of like the 3060 90 goal setting I experienced A3 problem solving um I did a time management because working paying for school um coaching and school all once wasn't easy for me but that A3 problem solving really helped me get my time management set well where I could achieve everything at my best so to sum it up I thank Western because they allowed me to meet so many other people people they from professionals because I'm in the digital marketing RSO great program Scout cie amazing guy he'll get you through Western um the whole program itself is really friendly trying to get to push each other to Greatness so I thank you for watching this video go Broncos
