Scott Frost vs Bill Cotton - Bank Pool - 2023 Derby City Classic rd 1

all right we are back to you with another bank pool match this is Josh Roberts commentating for Rail bird TV we got Scott Frost and Bill cotton up it's a race to three in Bank pool 2023 Derby City Classic all right so for those of you new viewers who don't really watch the game uh the rules are basically every bank has got to go clean for any scratch you get a ball in hand behind the line and it costs you a ball and for any normal foul it just cost you a ball and you have to shoot from where you are every ball has to go clean there are no kicks combos cams anything like that and it is the first one to five each game first one the five ball count wins the game it's short rack thanks this is not the original game of banks the original game was with full rack first one to eight kind of like one pocket and this one is short rack because sometimes the full rack can obviously take a long time so here we go uh Mr cotton won the flip or the lag and uh Scott Frost is one of our better American Bank pool and one pocket players most of you know him but for those of you new viewers who don't uh Scott Frost is uh one of our top American one pocket champions all right so two balls on the break and uh he looks to have a decent Bank on the three ball I don't believe the two goes uh the eight ball might have a chance to go cross-eyed if you stiff it really good but I think the most the best one is probably the three straight back yeah all right so he's shooting at the four instead cross side he'll move the nine out of the way oh okay he tried to go cross corner all right I assumed he was going to cross-eyed there all right so he's left a couple shots for Scott few of them spot so let's get those spotted up I think three balls spot nothing was made legally all right so um I can't tell if that five is frozen but if it isn't he'll be shooting the five ball it looks the straightest house corner all right and you got it all right so uh it looks like the three ball is available next for the cross corner in the same pocket okay he's shooting the nine ball cross Corner instead uh across the one ball in the upper right corner okay all right well he uh he would have gotten a lot closer I don't think he hit it quite that bad if you if you were listening you could hear the ball skip off the rail and a lot of times when that happens it certainly changes the angle so Scott Frost got one ball count and uh he's shooting this straight back on this three ball and that's about the only shot that he has that's the sixth ball goes in the same pocket as well but okay all right well I don't know if he is a new player or what obviously he's not a new player he's an older gentleman but I mean a new player as in like a not a top player I don't know him uh so anyway he's left a six ball cross side and it looks like uh Scott can maybe go to the eight ball next and that's what he's done he's drawing it back to the eight he'll be banking that cross side in the same pocket oh no he's banking the two instead okay he's just looking he's just looking it looks like the eight is the one if he can make it because if you do that then uh the four ball goes and Lacrosse side and there's other shots to go I guess he doesn't really like the way the eight looks maybe the Seven's kind of in the way I don't know all right so he's gotten the two ball Nice Shot there so he only needs two Banks so if he can get this seven ball down uh okay well the eighth and the four ball should be good for another one okay he shot the seven I kind of thought he would stiff that rather than uh parole it anyways giving uh Bill a shot at the cross side on the eight ball I like it he if he wants to he could Elevate and stop the cue ball and have the four next but uh just making it would be nice just to get started anyway a lot of times it's hard to hit that starter Bank where you feel like you're seeing the lines I expect the cross side on the seven ball here uh I don't know if he'll hit it hard enough to come all the way back down the table Scott always did play like a one pocket style of banks where he's playing real safe and like real real uh technical with the cue ball you know what I mean he doesn't really uh let his cue ball get away too much but I don't know um as far as as far as the way bill is playing if I was Scott I wouldn't even be worried about the safeties too often he doesn't seem to be comfortable with the table just yet I hadn't seen him make any balls I was about the closest one right there alright so Scott has a cross corner on seven ball he can Bank it right right past the four it looks like to me okay so he's gonna cross the nine instead and he hit it really good I don't know if it has enough to get in there but that's what I mean as far as that one pocket style of banks notice he's uh starting to clutter balls up and trying to keep the cue ball on this end of the table where no banks are really available he's banking at the three though no good there uh possibly maybe left a cross side looks like maybe he can cross the four ball as well cross corner on the four and the three both of them even the opponent said wow on that shot he did not expect it to not fall all right so I don't know what he called right there I'm not sure where he's going okay cross-sided he tried to play cross side and he's left a shot on the eight possibly if he didn't he left it just funny enough where it doesn't go I think he can maybe cross it though yeah he's stiffen it he's stiffing it nice shot maybe he had less angle than I thought uh I don't know he's been playing real safe that's what I figured he'd probably cross the three ball and leave the cue ball on this end of the table here just protecting the cue ball there's that one pocket style and clogging up the pockets and stuff you know all right so Scott needs one well it looks like uh Scott kind of got more of a I don't want to disrespect anybody but it looks like he got more of a warm-up match where his opponent isn't really feeling the table at all like he's giving up several shots for a good player to take advantage of you know as far as the top player I won't say you know I'm not trying to disrespect anyone when I say that anyway Scott takes the first game and uh he's got to be feeling comfortable with Bill not making any balls on that last game he's got to be feeling real comfortable about it I would say all right here we go rack two Scott's break thank you sounds like the opponent is giving Scott some praise and he is happy just to be playing with him and that happens a lot at the bigger events like the Derby you know that has all right here's the break all right so monster break he hit him really hard uh he made one ball and he has a nice well wait a minute oh he didn't make I thought he made a ball oh I guess he didn't excuse me all right so uh he has no shot at this six it doesn't go it might go three in the side but it didn't go in the corner there and it looks like he's giving up a couple of shots where uh Scott could maybe make the four ball cross side uh two ball might be available looks like it is it is available but he's gonna shoot the four all right he got the four down he could he could uh try to cross the nine back at the lower right corner here I don't see anything wrong with that especially with uh his opponent not feeling the table all right so that's two down possibly could have a cross-sider at this one uh inside English and you cross it going toward the eight you might oh he's shooting at the eight right now careful don't go off the back of that two ball okay he hit it really thick all right so he got two down he left opponent a shot at the cross side Maybe looks like the AIDS uh sort of in the way but not really all right so he's chosen the six cross the two cross Corner instead probably because of that reason uh no good and he's left Scott a cross side for the easy pickings well he missed it by the point and it went down in the lower corner there so a ball comes up on the spot now and uh bill will be shooting from there and um gotta say Scott didn't leave him much of a shot did he there's I mean I don't see hardly anything maybe the seven ball banking back at the corner that he's standing that's about it I don't see anything that'll actually go maybe he's just gonna pocket the five and put it on the spot as well that's what he's done now to me it looks like Scott can actually bank at the eight looks like he can cross the eight uh towards the upper right pocket there and go and follow forward and he may be able to uh no okay he can't he may be able to bank the one in that same pocket uh right in between the Gap in between the two six and uh fall down on the bottom rail that's what he's doing he's gonna Bank it right past the eight got it great shot by Scott great shot all right so three down two to go and uh he's banking at this eight but it's it's really funny like this this could uh carry like he's gotta kind of elevate to make sure he doesn't scratch I think in either pocket he needs to elevate a bit it seemed a little funny right there just you know I could tell he weren't comfortable with that all right so he needs two bills shooting from here not much of a shot he's got the sixth ball he can Bank where he is now he can Bank the sixth ball back towards him uh I don't think anything else really goes that three cross sides it's really tough it's close to the rail he's got to beat the kiss and he hit it good wow what a shot what a shot he hit it so well he may have earned himself an easier shot all right that's two down for for Bill showing some signs of life now two down for Bill and he likes the five ball he's taking the Cross corner on the five is he gonna cross it or stiff it no he tried to stiff it with a little speed didn't quite get there uh he's left Scott an ideal two ball um he could bank at the five where the two is he could cross the eight I like the two ball two or the five in the eight you really kind of have to let the cue ball fly around you know the six is okay too but I would take a one over a two all day he hit it great though what a shot by Scott and this two ball possibly one rail to end it and go up 2-0 and looks like he's got it good shot all right 2-0 and Scott's still breaking the balls see how it looks thank you all right here we go game three Scott leading 2-0 Derby City Classic 2023 Bank pool division it's a good break two about two balls down so far and it looks like he's gonna have a shot at this eight okay yeah he's got a shot anyway the seven ball Banks and for those of you just tuning in this is Josh Roberts commentating for Rail bird TV hope you guys enjoy the show all right so he's got the one rail on the seven easily made that one to start the rack and uh he's taking this eight ball cross side got that one all right now uh possibly a six ball cross side or maybe a four ball okay so no he what is he doing is he taking the Three cross corner I think he is all right so he's got a spot too and he made two oh he only spotted one ball I thought he was supposed to well yes he's supposed to spot two balls there uh so [Music] okay there we go now it's straight all right so you got the ball count right and uh he's taking this two ball bank right back up under him to the left okay no good all right doesn't really leave Scott a hanger it does look crossable but it didn't really leave him a hanger now he could just pocket this ball and leave his opponent in a terrible position to uh get out of if you're not a bank pool player that is if you're a bank pool player then this is a pretty simple position to get out of you just cut the four into the 13. and you go back up the table but he's going to take the bank and leave his cue ball maybe down here unless he hits it with a good stroke yeah so he left Scott you know in the area where the banks are pretty good see we leave a guy this close even if he has to like back cut him one way or the other you know when you leave them this close you can still hit him pretty accurately sorry about that all right so he went for the two didn't get it looks like he has a cross Corner Bank on this six ball almost almost all right so he's got a three-railer in the side here on this four yeah and he carried the safety just played the cue ball safe trying to get his opponent to leave him something simple and easy now he should be just cutting the one uh going back up the table one or two rails whichever he prefers that's how you would play safe on this I mean you could cut the five or the eight or whichever one you think it can hit but the one very hard to miss if you're hitting the top ball all right so he went on and knocked one in I don't believe the three ball Banks passed that ball on the rail I'm pretty sure it's in the way now the sixth ball might Bank the little inside and there's the sixth ball might okay so he's going across corner with the four in the upper right looks good all right three down three down and across side are available on the one it's a kiss all right and he leaves his opponent almost the same that he had on the six it does go but neither one of them I'm not sure if they like it but the six ball actually does go okay he hit it with uh a little outside caps got near that one ball very hard to make a shot out of this uh I assume Scott's play safe here so uh no I think he's calling the one ball to the lower left here uh certainly a pretty good attempt at it all right so he's left the nine ball to bank and the three ball whichever one he likes more three ball is actually pretty straight in the nine ball you have to do something I I like the three ball because if you make the three then you have the six cross side or the nine so you make that long Rail and you have a couple more sitting there nope and he he tucked Scott in on the pile from Scott I just thin the eight ball get it down the table that's what he did it's gonna allow his opponent to go ahead and pocket that ball and he'll move from there which uh for a bank pool player that's not really a big issue Scott will know what to do from up the table all right so in my opinion Scott should hit the six and just go on up the table then the six two rails back out I think it's I I think it would have been better to open the balls and give the guys at it long far away and leave you in the patch after you've opened them rather than tie more up I mean it's 3-0 the guy only made two Banks the whole match I mean I don't know what do I know all right so banking at the nine here one rail and he can draw this and stiff it out of there okay all right well a little long on that and uh he left a couple shots cross on the three and on the five cross side and either one of them will go across Corner as well oh I almost made it he almost made it all right so now a pretty good looking shot for Scott uh banking right back under him to his to our left if you're looking at the screen upper left nope a little too tight a little too tight tighten it up a little bit too much all right and he's now left his opponent a shot at the cross side that's no good and he's left Scott an ideal shot maybe on this three ball here and it kind of looks like the kiss could come into play where you have to really pay attention to it to Beat It it's close okay maybe not all right so that's uh four on the ball count there and uh cross side why not just Bank the seven cross side wow good shot great shot wins it 3-0 and so Scott carries on
