I have a special guest joining me today on Prime Time local news Cindy sorley kinger is here Cindy is the Fine Arts coordinator with the Arts Without Borders event that is the Fine Arts showcase starts here later this week Cindy thank you for joining me today thank you let's talk about when this event gets underway and where it is Cindy can you start with that information we um the show was already hung we just notified that Sarah Haw um finished hanging the show but it's open to the public starting Friday and it goes through to October 26 where we have a reception where we will be giving out the awards and um you can meet and greet the artists as well as um maybe quiz them on their work if you if you would like as well all right and how many pieces of Art and how many artists do we have in the Showcase roughly Cindy um there's about 35 to 40 artists there but and about 98 pieces in place but we also have a virtual exhibit that um for pieces that are oversized of our requirements for our hanging space or people who are too far away and it's too expensive to ship the work because we've got artwork that's even from the states this year and what type what type of art is it Cindy um it's all sorts of things there's Contemporary Art there's Western Art there's um still lives there's portraiture there's youth there's you name it it's there there's uh sculpture there's [Music] jewelry um pretty much if you can name it it's there and one nice thing about this too Cindy is that the there's a People's Choice Award so when you go through you can take a look at everything and then you get to vote so can you explain a little bit about what happens when the winner is declared what do they receive for being the People's Choice winner hey we have the we Institute a People's Choice winner um because the jurors juror jurors when they pick what they considered the best show not always lines up with what the public think and so we decide well we'll have a People's Choice Award and the artist who gets picked from that everybody you know anybody sees the Show puts in a vote and then their vote counted and then whoever wins wins and they get a $500 check as winning and the a thousand oh wow well this is an event I know people look forward to Cindy uh if anybody is looking for more information just on the show or Arts Without Borders and everything that goes with that where can they find that find that and what do they look for well you we uh are the for to start uh Festival is got a Facebook page has an Instagram page and a website which is arts withoutborders doca and U you just look for arts without um borders Festival under Facebook and Instagram and you'll find us there and they have um all sorts of postings there about the different events when they are and the festival covers all sorts of things and it's we've expanded it so it covers more than just a week before it was just a you know a week except for the art show which carried on further um so it's easier for people to see all the events not get wore out so all the all the different events are listed on those sites and when they that makes a lot of sense to have it done that way too Cindy so um once again let's just let people know the day that the show starts the Fine Arts show and when it wraps up and where it is please okay it's this Friday I'm not sure what that date is that' be the 13th there you go September 13th through to the October 26 and October 26th is the reception where they get the awards and you can meet the artists at that show at that time all right Cindy well thank you so much for joining me today it's a pleasure speaking with you and good luck with everything with the show
