the bins are going on in a minute folks I've got one to read for you for you bit heartwarming really or I thought it was anyway Joey Jones you might remember him used to play for Liverpool you know for the scouters at fullback a long long time ago and I was a kid when I was growing up I do that CU I hated him I absolutely hated him used to win everything used to do me head in but grudgingly do admire them anyway I read earlier on in the week that ksus had been out to Rex and for a fundraiser for his old Pal Joey Jones he's took bad I think he's got dementia and he's struggling with it there was a piece in the paper today and as I say I thought parts of it were well I thought the whole thing was very heartwarming but I'll read you a couple of things there that I think they were if you're a football fan or a fan of people in general people who look after other people and care for other people I think it's really good this um now I remember Jones as a as I say a fullback for uh Liverpool No Nonsense fullback would have go few honors with them I won't read it all cuz I'll be here forever it's the big two pager but it said they had this dinner in honor of Joey Jones and I know gr was a guest speaker there they said from Mery side they had Sun Alan Kennedy Sammy Lee and John Aldridge from Manchester his great mate Mickey Thomas More of him later and Martin booken and representing Wales Baron and Brian Flynn um it's telling a of about a well-known ban I say wellknown I knew nothing of it but you Liverpool fans will the unfill one of the banners in one of the I think it was the first European Cup win ever uh the slogan was the slogan on the ban I see the banner here really really funny I don't remember it because I'm not a liverpol fan the slogan read Joey ate the Frog's legs made the Swiss roll now he's munching gladbach I think the first one did they beat baru Ming gladbach I think they did anyway that was that there what else was they there so yes they did bit muching GL Back in 77 God I hated that time they were winning everything I'll give you another couple here it's on about the friendship with Mickey Thomas here we go the friendship with Thomas a former United star who entertains guest in the corporate lounges at ult Trafford has endured since they met as 7 pound a week apprentices at rexen the race they used to race each other up the flood lights to see who could reach the top first bet that was pretty perilous they must have been Fearless guys both of them when they later played together at Chelsea they preferred to commute together from the nor from North Wales in instead of living in London even though it meant 6:00 a.m. starts just to make training God they were committed if they did have to stay overnight they'd sometimes put their head down in the physio room at Stanford Bridge to save a couple of Bob I've added that bit that little bit there anyway he says when Mickey was jailed for count for a counterfeit currency scam I do remember that Joey used to visit him in prison he was a support when Mickey fought cancer I do remember that now Joey is a in as I say he's got demena and whatever else Mickey visits him and his wife Jackie every single day he does his shopping for them he does the shopping for the Joneses takes Joey out for a coffee and if every he wants to go see a live football match he takes Joey to that as well um speaking of the enemy um Martin booken who was Captain of the 77 team the United 77 te and who to love booking me I loved him uh that beat Liverpool at Wembley I think we stopped getting a trouble that year because we beat them at Wembley um summed up the universal respect the game has for one of its great characters as soon as I knew we were honoring Joey I wanted to be there he said I always liked him even as a rival he had fight he had spirit I bet most premier league teams today wish they had players with his art including United i' say especially United over the last couple of years but a fantastic piece I thought it was brilliant I read initially that Thomas is really really close to him and for all they played for teams across the old divide of the East lanks Road and always had a massive massive rivalry from from when I was five or six year old I remember it you know they hated us we hated them but it's great to see when they put the football aside how close they are and so on and so forth and they've not forgot the roots I think it's great what M Summers is doing now that said Joy Jones for visit him in prison and and at hospital and whatever else says a lot for Jones and now he's getting it repaid back back I read the piece about it if you get a chance to read you're going to have a look at the papers folks about the tribute dinner sounds like it was a whale of a night I believe they raised a good few quid and rightly so because Jones Come From the era when football players didn't make proper proper proper money like they do now I mean it's more than proper what they make now it was nothing like it in those days but I thought it was great you know that Rivals can come together and celebrate one another and help one another out great really really nice to read good luck anyway Mr Mr Jones
