Temple vs. Oklahoma Predictions & Bets Week 1 NCAA College Football 8/30/24 | Hitting The Books

all right we move now to Friday night and uh we've got the Temple Owls taking on the Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma 42 and a half Point home favorites 59 the total I mean this is obviously for Oklahoma and their defense is going to be really good Brent venables is a defensive-minded head coach first year when he was there obviously the defense was a disappointment but steadily it's gotten better and by far on paper he's got the best defense he's had here uh in Oklahoma since he's been here uh and it's going to be interesting to see if that can translate to uh great success on the field right away it very well could here in this game because you're talking about one of the absolute worst teams in all of college football entering the season in the temple owls the one good the only really good thing about them last year was the quarterback play from EJ Warner well he's gone now and you're starting over now at the quarterback position going into this season uh with uh obviously taking over at the quarterback spot Temple Forest Brock it looks like is going to get that starting job and he was named the starter just recently but it went right down to the wire as far as making this guy the starter that's a concern for me uh that it took this long to name a starting quarterback you're on the road you're against a defense that should be very good and especially capable of just shutting down teams that are way below them in class and Oklahoma should be able to do that this is not a game I've bet it's just too many points to lay plus we have to see how Jackson Arnold looks he takes over as the new quarterback they like him he got into some time last year uh for Oklahoma uh but let's see how he does they like his arm they like his ability to move a little bit but they say his arm strength is very uh the is the best attribute of him at the quarterback spot I mean they absolutely could light things up you're talking about a bottom tier bottom feeder defense last year the Temple Owls they couldn't stop a nose bed on the defensive side of the football last year so it's Oklahoma's favored by this margin for a reason I don't know if I want to lay this many I think the best bet might be just take temple team total under I really don't know how much success they're going to have moving the football in this game what do you think here CMAC temple Oklahoma yeah you know Warner's gone this is going to be uh a tough go uh we talked about it on last week I think maybe as year goes on and maybe not but just their schedule and who they play they could maybe get a few wins but they're going to get blown out here this is a classic Oklahoma like uh kick the team's ass you know score like 52 to7 they should take care of business temples just so much to do the turnovers were awful they're basically dead last when you look at it loss turnover margin all just at the very bottom it it was just awful defense 122 couldn't stop a nose bleed and the offense still wasn't very good and now they have a lot of stuff uh to get going here Jackson Arnold I think he'll have a good game here what do we get down the line from them and what do we get down the line with this defense with Oklahoma because I think there's a ton of questions there you know with venables how much they you know they talk it up but uh we'll see later on in the year but this should be an easy win for them I don't think I get involved uh in any way maybe the team Friday night home game first game as a member of the SEC that's why I want no part of Temple too I mean you fig oh yeah and they haven't won a road game in like 20 games but it's just like everything is off Oklahoma openers have just kicked that I this number is massive uh but I don't know if Temple can do much that would be a little bit shocking you know we saw some shocking results if they could maybe hang and score some points you know early in this game yeah no doubt and but but one thing that's concerning it may not show up here against Temple they'll probably still run them over offensively but the offensive line is totally revamped totally rebuilt not nobody comes coming back for Oklahoma along the offensive line uh from last year so uh that's going to be interesting to see how they uh handle that but that defense look last year was probably the best defense under venal 23.5 points per game and all projections are they should be better than that this year so it's to me Temple team total under is probably because I don't want to guess how much they pile it on offensively with Jackson Arnold against Temple's defense they could but it's always a little bit leery to lay this many when you've got so many new faces on the offensive line and keep in mind too people said SMU was going to kill Nevada last week how did that I mean so I I hate to again just look back on last week and say never ever consider laying this many points but it is a lot of points it is and it's not like uh the big favorites did well uh last week so uh but that being said CAC there's no way I get to Temple not a chance do I put a penny of my money on the temple owls in that game
