3 2 one action this isn't just the start of a sci-fi movie it's also the countdown to the next incredible achievement by SpaceX and its Partners the Polaris dawn spacewalk after years of planning and preparation this groundbreaking mission is set to take place in the coming days with all stakeholders expressing their Readiness and excitement the anticipation is palpable join us as we dive into the details on today's episode of great SpaceX according to the latest update the Polaris Dawn mission is now scheduled to launch at 3:38 a.m. EDT on August 27th from launch complex 39a SpaceX announced the new schedule on X stating targeting Tuesday August 27th for launch of Polaris Dawn the first of the Polaris programs three human space missions designed to advance the future of space flight the Tweet also included a one minute video featuring Polaris daon astronauts in SpaceX Eva suits the launch was originally set for August 26th but was postponed by a day to allow additional time for teams to complete pre-flight checkouts SpaceX explained the new date allows additional time for teams to complete pre-flight checkouts ahead of next week's launch mission Commander Jared isikman commented we will happily take an extra day to ensure Readiness in preparation for the mission SpaceX has accelerated Key activities on August 19th the four astronauts were flown to NASA's Kennedy Space Center for pre-flight quarantine SpaceX also moved quickly to ready the flight Hardware the dragon spacecraft for this Mission named resilience was transported to Florida early SpaceX recently shared images from a room housing two dragon spacecraft one of which was the Polaris Dawn prototype proudly displaying the mission symbol the other space craft freedom is set to launch crew 9 next month musk reacted to the images with a humorous tweet two dragons ready for flight these preparations contrast sharply with the struggles of another company involved in NASA's commercial crew program despite similar efforts this company has produced only two spacecraft both plagued by numerous issues with one still unable to complete its crew test mission you can probably guess which company and vehicle we're referring to returning to SpaceX the company provided an up dat on the roll out of dragon resilience to LC 39a stating Dragon arrived at our hanger at pad 39a ahead of Falcon 9's launch of Po's Dawn in addition to the dragon spacecraft SpaceX has also prepared other critical Hardware including the booster and second stage Polaris shared on X after a pre-dawn run around the pad at 39a the Polaris Dawn crew stopped by the hangar to sign the falcon9 booster that will launch them and dragon into orbit isaacman added our our daily quarantine routine includes running around lc-39a where so many historic missions launched yesterday we checked in on our booster second stage and dragon we also signed our flight proven Hardware a cool experience unique to spacex's reusable Tech without it missions like play's Dawn wouldn't be possible both tweets were accompanied by images of astronauts standing next to the falcon9 booster the booster numbered b183 has completed three previous missions including two starlink launches and the crew a mission The Scorch marks on the booster's exterior serve as a testament to Falcon 9's reusability which isaacman highlighted the astronauts added their signatures and the mission name to the booster underscoring the important role this Hardware will play in the success of Polaris Dawn and now let's move on to another crucial update for the Polaris Dawn Mission an update about the Eva suit from the moments captured in the video it's clear that these space suits are more than ready for the mission expectations have been high especially since the SpaceX team spent over 2 years perfecting this suit Jared isaacman had previously revealed several enhancements to the suit including increased weight compared to the Iva suit various safety features a cooling system a redundant O2 circuit insulation improved dexterity and Mobility protection against sun glare mmod or micrometeoroid and orbital debris resiliency and even a starling connection in his most recent update isaacman shared the Eva suits are Night and Day from the original Iva suits they contain more than a dozen layers of mli redundancy on seals Vents and valves a new visor lots of rotators and Joints HUD camera they are very rigid when pressurized as are all Eva suits we have Rotator joints and stitching throughout the suit for mobility and the primary purpose of the Eva operation is to gather data on suit performance these updates once again demonstrate the superiority of the SpaceX Eva suit compared to other space suits including those developed by NASA or for the Starliner program some of these enhancements like the Starling connection are Innovations never before seen in other space suits one standout feature that sets spacex's suits both Eva and Iva apart from the rest is their Simplicity and neatness Behind These factors like countless modern Technologies but it's this Simplicity that has revolutionized the traditional concept of a spacit providing comfort and flexibility that previous designs couldn't achieve Simplicity also facilitates mass production something no other organization has managed in another tweet isikman hinted at the future of the Eva suit a topic I've often discussed he said it is definitely not a suit for Mars but at least the journey has begun to make it that way wow it seems SpaceX has plans to further develop a suit for Mars and I believe believe that instead of designing an entirely new suit they may simply modify the current Eva suit I'm hopeful that we'll see this future Eva suit in action during Mars missions or even lunar missions paired with Starship hls a lot of critical preparations have been made SpaceX is ready the player Don crew is ready and I'm ready too how about you comment I'm ready below to let me know then like share the video and subscribe to our channel to continue following spacex's development Journey especially as the player St unfolds in the coming days with preparations complete let's take another look at what will unfold during the players Dawn Mission and the broader potential it holds this upcoming mission is set to break several records it will reach Heights unmatched by any crude Mission since Apollo 17 in 1972 on the second day the astronauts will soar to an altitude of 1,400 km before descending to 700 kilm the entire Mission will span 5 days during this time Jared isman and Sarah Gillis will Dawn Eva suits to venture outside the spacecraft performing space walks that will last around 2 hours in total potentially broken down into several 20 minute sessions meanwhile astronauts Scott potit and Anna Menan will remain inside the spacecraft to manage decompression and support the Eva activities the primary objective is to gather data on the effects of space flight and radiation on human health what makes this Mission even more groundbreaking is that it will Mark the first private spacewalk Elon musk highlighted this on X this will be the first space walk by a commercial company and the furthest from Earth anyone has traveled in over a half century another ex-user Alex emphasized the significance until now waking into okay walking into the open void of space has exclusively been a government thing SpaceX is about to break that Monopoly by adding the first ever private spacewalk to its already vast arsenal of space competencies with the Polaris Dawn mission on August 26th of 2024 musk responded to this tweet with this will be cool indeed up until now only government entities like NASA have been capable of such Feats space 6 will be the Pioneer setting the stage for other private organizations to follow we are entering a new era where space exploration opportunities are open to any organization with the technological means no longer requiring government or NASA involvement to witness such achievements moreover this Mission showcases the remarkable Unity within the SpaceX team during the overview briefing on August 19th Sarah Gillis remarked it's obviously a development Mission and that's taken a ton of work across the SpaceX team in order to support these ambitious objectives Scott potit added uh and it's been an awesome Journey preparing for this Mission um and it also took as as G and Jared mentioned uh an entire organization 14,000 employees and some of the brightest and smartest Engineers I I've ever met he also expressed gratitude for the immense resource time and effort devoted to this Mission Anna Menan also shared her confidence I think working at SpaceX gives me a tremendous amount of confidence going to space I see the way they do development I see the way they handle risks handle change handle every piece of the mission and that just gives me tremendous confidence going forward finally Jared isman the mission's commander and sponsor emphasized the future road map the second mission will build off of what we learn from the first and then the third mission will be the first crude flight of Starship the statement further solidifies the significance of the upcoming Mission all eyeses will be on Florida in the coming days after much anticipation we are about to witness the first spacewalk mission featuring a talented crew of astronauts the SpaceX dragon and The Cutting Edge Eva suit as the moment approaches it's time to countown to this historic event so when the clock strikes zero a I hope to see you there well folks that's about it for today's episode thank you so much for tuning in and as always this has been Kevin from great SpaceX until next time keep looking up
