Seattle Washington home to renowned franchisees present and P from the Seahawks to the SuperSonics but there is a Cornerstone program in this city it is the huskys of udub they've always had a place here a place of Excellence that these fans hope will continue today this is the type of early season game you look forward to an opportunity to make a statement in a top 10 Showdown as we'll see a team coming off a crucial by week the Kansas State Wildcats taking the 10th ranked team in the land the Washington Huskies for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started Kansas State ready to kick it off to get things [Applause] underway coming out with it it's Armstrong and they'll haul down the returner to start on the next drive so Washington will be in a hole thanks to that short return and here comes this quarterback this entire offense is built around him he is the engine of the entire team I mean he's the leader he's the alpha everybody looks towards them he's been doing it all year long everybody believes in this young man big opportunity big stage here's the handoff pushes to pile for a couple of yards down at the 12 love seeing these early season top 25 matchups you can get a really good feel of how good these teams are guys and the intensity is going to be big too David because the players you know on these teams they've been thinking about this game for a long time they knew they'd have a national stage and they got a chance to prove just how good they are oh man make that statement make that early State we always look at the end of the season and and what does the committee say oh they beat top 25 so and so here's your chance to put that on your resume that'll pay off big time in late season on Third and short the run and looking for the first down he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple the Huskies will be forced to boot it away this will be their first pun of the [Applause] afternoon slips through the line he'll put a stop to that return as he gets it up to the 41 yd line so the Kansas State Wildcats offense will try to get something started with first possession as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays and they've got a shot to win this week no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game they finally get him on the ground but the big running play moves to change for the first down this crowd bringing the energy and noise early now on the option shakes off the tackle that run epitomizes a veteran Savvy senior who knows how to find Space you ain't getting by all these guys right up the middle unless your offensive line and your tight ends and everybody is putting in the work up front committing to blocking the running back does a great job finding the hole exploding through how about that nice big huge game if I'm the OC let's call that one again leaves it with the back he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is we'll repeat the previous down but this time the offense has 10 more yards it has to cover line gets set first down right back to the well they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks it's hard to find a place these days that the Big 10 doesn't touch geographically but there's a lot of crossover with the big 10 and Big 12 and plenty of bragging rights on the line when you think about Nebraska Once Upon a Time being in the Big 12 now in the Big 10 too they these conferences also recruit in similar areas too so this this game is interesting David because a lot of these players they're familiar from with each other from high yeah and I tell from from experience you hate that like you get to know each other you go to the other school like you're now my enemy you're not my friend anymore so a chance to prove it a chance for the Big 12 who's been kind of pillaged and pulled apart at times sometimes by the Big 10 make a statement today this crowd rising up sensing that it defense needs some help they'll try to drive ahead on Third and short and they did not let him reach the line to gain it'll bring up a decision [Applause] here down and this crowd is making it miserable on this offense they'll try it on the ground great move there and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown Kansas State Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan all the way to the endzone what an unbelievable job blocking up front he'll bring it out it's Armstrong and the returner will be brought down and Washington is ready to go back on the attack last time David it was one two three kick last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable at that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their fields didn't get much on first down it's second and nine fast motion from the offense on second down down he'll fire grabbed on the outside it's co oh man he goes down and he's going to lose yardage on that one not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 looking deep fires a full and now it's picked off taking it the other way and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception what a nice catch by the defensive back listen a lot of times you see get in position to make plays but there's a reason they play DB and not wide receiver great job finishing the interception catching the ball making a big play fights off a Defender defense there to stop him at the 20 let's give him three yard on that carry oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack quick pass on the Fly motion they make the Stop and that'll bring the first quarter to a close guys it's Kansas State who carries the lead into the quarter break and we've come to the end of the first as we take a moment to check out the stats so [Music] far heading in the opposite directions now as we Crank It Up in the second they'll try to open the quarter by cashing in on this big opportunity deep in the Red Zone with the run on first and goal and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land this is a defense that we know takes tons of Pride stopping the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw great effort on that last can the defense stop them again on second and goal quarter keep ER and he's able to bounce off one tackle for a solid pick up and the evolution of the quarterback position basically you should call them running backs who throw the ball really well now and guys you know the other thing that happens here is that sets up the next play because into the end zone he goes touchdown Wilds that touchdown gives his team a pretty significant lead at this point and that's what you want you want to start fast you want everything to come out start make some plays it doesn't always work that way but when you do man the energy the crowd everybody's into it now the other team better respon the kickoff team out there to boot it away in 15 yd farther up the field after the roughing the kicker penalty this will not be returnable as it sails out of the back of the end zone huskies have it back trying to make this defense bow down to washingon this is when the pressure can ramp up a little bit on an offense David when they start feeling the he answer a score and I think being down 14 you can kind of feel that way but dude if you put a good drive together this is a seven-point game so Palmer no need to pay I was just going to say David I mean this thing can flip quick you go down score all of a sudden your defense gets a stop or who knows better yet gets a turnover this game is entirely different wide out in motion on second down he's looking down field got his man quickly and he'll get it up the 38 it'll be a first down Washington wants to go quickly using his legs it's Coleman they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and if I'm the running back I'm be like listen on can you give me something can you give me some space to try to make somebody Miss and not have another guy right next to me I'm giving the offensive line and ear full I need some holes need some space up front they got to do a better job the throw to the is complet boy this freshman quarterback has a host did he seeing that thing in there really nice looking pinpoint throw there and when I think back to husky QBs you think about Warren Moon you think about Mark Brunell the hu Brothers what about Jake Browning all made really good decisions this guy he's got a lot of arm talent but he's also very smart now on second down here's why this one's so much fun guys early in the season sort of a Proving Ground type of game for a couple s that believe they could win it all and we've heard so much in this off SE right about both of these teams and top 10 teams pre-season now you get a chance to prove like now you get a chance to see who are the dudes on the squad these are always fun early in the season Jess yeah it's going to be fun to find out what these teams are about because we've seen both teams beat up on rer competition you know they're both very talented but let's see good against good and find out what they are finally this offense starting to show a little juice they've got a first and 10 [Applause] it's a reverse that one did not go well tackled in the back field for a loss of six big loss on the last play threatens to knock this drive off course it's second and 16 they go to the ground pulled down for the tackle well they love to move sticks here and take a shot at it on first and [Applause] goal snap from the gun on third down he it the end zone touchdown Washington really nice job working the route getting himself open he's able to locate the football smag it out of the air and this guy now has five receiving touchdowns on the Andes point about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown fielded In The End Zone it's rice not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense a rest and that's a real thing man like you played a lot of plays you get worn out you need a chance to go decompress the sideline get some oxygen Palmer now it's on this offense yeah this is the definition of complimentary football cuz it's a two-prong problem you've got to score points and answer you've also got to take your time and give your defense an opportunity to get their win I want to make sure I know where The Playmakers are and I can't let guys like this guys slip out a Back Field and make big plays against me a good job being aware that they can throw the ball to the running back closing space and getting that fast D on the ground and now on second down for this offense now the play fil looking to the big tight end got him downfield and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made nice confidence by the QB good throw over the middle of the field nice little strike down the field for a big play listen you got to throw it where it's open and he found a slot found a little hole in the middle of the field nice job ATT tack throws toward the end zone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity man this QB is so dangerous he can get outside the pocket and right here you can tell he gets outside the pocket now I'm got to make some decisions man do I do I want to go chase this guy do I play coverage and that's why these mobile quarters put you in the predicament the defense won this battle but that guy is so hard to correct let's see if they go back to the air after the incompletion second and 10 from the 48 they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw gets it all the way down to the 39 yd line it'll be a first down the quarterback in the offensive line really do a good job what do they do they sell pass first everything looks like pass nope they hit you with a run really great job working together with a little bit of misdirection sagged in the middle it's brown that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the Stop and the wild cats will snaap it on First and 10 quarterback making adjustments with his receivers part in the back field it's Williams gets out of bounds after the big play and they'll be set up in business with a first and goal so so close to cashing it in for this offense they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple there is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide on these situations you know the physical ground game comes into play inside the 5 yd line and they match the intensity nice job everybody flying around to the football making the tle and he takes it to the house touchdown Kansas State wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down into this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this offense and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return and Washington is ready to go back on the attack so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe to swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to and it's intercepted a turnover from the [Applause] defense the offense set for a first down play wide receiver shows motion Johnson looking to [Applause] throw he's right on target nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down one of the things that makes this guy so dangerous is how good he is after the catch if he's got any space around him he's able to burst he's able to make people miss and get extra yards for his offense you saw it right there off the play fake on first down to throw and he's got it touchdown wild cats these guys are really hitting their stride in we they push out that lead well this offense is top 10 in the country in points per game because they've got a lot of speed and they've got home run hitters they score fast they don't need 10 plays to go down the field you saw it right there they've recruited well they've got play makers they are going to be a problem for defenses all year long the Huskies have it back trying to make this defense bow down to Washington he'll start this drive firing and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 timeout called by the defense it's their first of the half as they'll make some adjustments quick completion on the out I like this tight end he does a really nice job on his route run he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots in the zones got to get him involved his offense looking at a third down after that last completion and he throws his third pick of the to day his head has to be spinning you I think when you're trying to throw against this guy especially when he's in zone coverage you got to anticipate the throws you got to get it out before your receiver turns around to look because if you're even half a second too late he makes you pay with interceptions looking down the middle oh he drops the football he had him right down the gun of the field instead it'll be second down that's a throw that QB would like to have back he just has to do a better job giving his re a chance to make the catch time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half Johnson wants to throw it trying to get to him and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays this is a third and long looking to throw and he needs a chunk play blasted as he lets it go that passes well off Target he got hit as he was trying to throw and they can't convert on third down yeah and on money down defensively you got to find ways to affect the quarterback nice job by the defense getting the pressure getting to him getting a hit on him and forcing the incompletion and now forcing the fourth down they thought they had a good plan but did not work they'll have just enough time to get one more snap before the half he's looking to throw it he lost it high and deep down the left side pass is incomplete and that's going to do it for the first half that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update guys who's had a better seat there in Seattle for in first half than you an entertaining first half and we've got a multi- possession lead to break down thanks to the surgical Precision of this offense might honestly take more time to talk about what didn't work than what did the running game the passing game Gadget plays have worked now it's just a matter of finishing the job with that said let's send it back to our guys inside Husky Stadium all right Kevin about ready to get things cranked back up here Washington about to boot it deep to start things in the second half fielded In The End Zone it's rice not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field looking for a productive play on first down they'll open the second half with the Run works his way ahead for three they'll spot it at the 18 it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up at a good spot got three on first down at second and seven looking for a gap it's Edwards tackle is made after the first down well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive they've got it first and 10 from the 25 quarterback needs to make a better throw there incomplete after the misconnection it's second down Johnson looking to throw getting some heat couldn't find anyone open here and he'll lift to fight another play it'll be third down they line up with some serious work to do if they want to this one on the option he'll toss it and they just didn't get anybody on that defense out of position and they will lose yardage on that one Kansas state will have to punt it away finally sending out a punter in this one got to make sure they earn their letter and Washington is ready to go back on the attack this drive will get started from the 37 yd line [Applause] the receiver on the Jet Sweep running with power they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one defense was prepared and I'm really impressed by the eye discipline right now that's not easy to do it's not easy to locate that receiver coming across in motion with good timing and getting the Jet Sweep but they were ready for that play catch in the middle it's Boston they stop him almost immediately short gain there still a little ground to cover pick up the first Washington right back to the line on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air pocket starts to collapse just had to get rid of that one to save the yardage on third down Washington sends out the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away looking for a block it's rocket and they'll get him down after the return at the 27 yd line and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field here's another opportunity Jesse to stretch out this lead after punting last time I think it goes back to your Playmakers reys I think it's finding the guys that have been working for you earlier on in this game and getting them to football and there's obviously no need to panic me think about it you got the lead you got the football you got to be smart with the football make your plays put a good drive together here and here comes the offense on second down Johnson wants to throw it pressures there and he lets it Go nothing to do with the football and he just throws it away it'll be third down the offensive line has got to give him at least a little bit of time to survey the field he had no chance that time getting hit almost immediately after he got the ball third down conversions always a huge stat they've got a third and long from the 27 from the gun wants to pass still on his feet trying to make magic with his feet he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down I just love this guy's instincts right when things aren't open right away he never panics he just understands the situation where is on the field and he's so confident in his own natural ability that he has the ability to run go get the first down keep this drive roll and he finds Some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him coaches always har about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that tackled but he has a first down this offense all game long has been running really well I'm really impressed by how well they've recruited at the running back position they've got some Dynamic players coming into the game at different points spelling each other keeping each other fresh they're hurting this defense he's got it touchdown Kansas State and the beat down has ensued quarterback's abilities to read the field is huge and also the anticipation the timeing to be able to throw the football Jesse and hit a guy in stride so he can get run after the catch and get Z that was a nice job by the quarterback yeah it's critical David listen a lot of times touchdown passes aren't thrown into the end zone you got to read the coverage hit the open guy and let him do the rest husk have it back trying to make this defense bow down to Washington boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive diing up a second down pass play catch in the middle it's Aon a little more space open up that Playbook even more as they pick up the first down out to the 30 here's this offense with a fresh set of [Applause] downs receiver going for the edge on the Jet Sweep and I think I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up great job by the defense there slowing down that Jet Sweep and a big key was the defensive end containing the play forcing the receiver to cut back inside to where all the traffic was just sort of a Relentless run getting everything that was available to him and they'll Mark him down at the 40 as they get set to snap it time winding down here in the quarter keeps it on the boot leg grab near the sticks it's Williams and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down guys it's Kansas State who carries the lead into the quarter break this has been a complete obliteration so far as the third quarter stats will show you so will the beat down continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the fourth the Huskies have their offense in high gear comes out throwing on first down quarterback moving he's going to be able to pick up a few yards before the SL you know QBs want to make those big plays they want to they want to put up the big stats but when nothing's there sometimes you just tuck the ball get a minimal gain I like the slide by the way too get down and don't take a big hit and the husk get enough to move the chains now on first down from the 43 yd line looking to move it through the air that's reeled in it's Boston and they pick up just a few on that completion they put this ball on lock down eighth play of the drive coming up he's looking for an open man on second down good timing on the quick out and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first and way possibilities here back to the air one more time can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noos pass defense and now it's Fourth Down got to give this defense credit guys because all game long they have forced their opponent to be one-dimensional they haven't allowed anything to happen in the passing game as a result we're here in the fourth quarter they barely allowed over a 100 yards passing shakes off the defender that run epitomizes a veteran Savvy senior who knows how to find Space Washington coming to the line with another first down might as well give it to him again balls his way forward they still can't get him down he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the eight that's a really nice game it just would have been really nice to see this from this off earlier you're getting to the point where there's a couple of thought processes do I build momentum for next week do I try to get this offense the ground game clicking or do I throw the football every play and try to make this football game close they've got it down to the three now it's second and goal 29 slams ahead and he takes it in for the score Dodge down [Applause] husky yeah and listen that is awesome to see the guys to fight continue to keep competing because this game is over like we don't need to fool y'all we're not trying to get y'all to stick around and improve ratings like the game's over but you're continuing to fight you're powered in for the touchdown and show your kids that we're going to always fight no matter what the score is and let's check in with Kevin Conor in the studio Kevin was a very interesting scene playing out right now in this Marquee top 25 match up Texas is on the ropes and it's like they're looking at their corner and saying no a real blood bath today at DKR they're trailing by 25 to Alabama he'll Circle back if anything big happens you should know about it thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final few anxious moments there but the hands team true to its name as they make the grab and get the ball K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field on that last Drive defense had no idea what was happening run or pass that wound up in the end zone Jesse yeah you saw the experience in this offense that last try too on that touchdown everybody on the same page these guys have repped these plays over and over in practice and in games and it's working yeah so I got to find a way to disrupt it I got to find a way to maybe be more aggressive maybe Blitz mess up this Rhythm they got done he worked his way ever closer all the way down to the one ydd line Kansas State pushing the pace moving the running back forcing the touchdown wilds and the punishment has been extended they put another score on the board as they try to push this winning streak to three well what I love about this team early this year is it looks like they can fight through adversity they started the year 2 and0 this game like it was in the balance here in the fourth quarter but after watching them answer with that last touchdown drive that shows me they've got the mental toughness to potentially make a run this year and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and they capped it off with a one yd plunge lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive [Applause] and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line and Washington is ready to go back on the [Music] attack they'll come out on this drive and let it rip wide open down field and he's to the 48 yd line that'll be good enough for a first down you got manto man coverage C rout that ball has to come out you know you're going to get like you know you stopped your route he's going to be right there but does a great job securing the catch getting the first and it is another interception just a terrible struggle for this quarterback and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position okay so here comes the offense returning to the field the give and tick tick tick tick tick tick tick really nice run there good solid pick up and they'll move the sticks with a first down new seter Downs right on the doorstep for this offense keeping it on the ground on first and goal and they're going to put another one into the end zone as they just keep piling points on the scoreboard and this always is the debate of where you fall it's your job to stop me or I should get conserved because this offense obviously has had themselves day and apparently their day is not over they're going to continue to keep scoring and the defense better do something about it the Huskies have it back trying to make this defense bow down to Washington this thing got out of hand on them but they'll try to finish with some pride here and this one was a beat down and there's nothing you can do about it because this one's over Jesse now we got to start progressing for next week for the rest of this season so we don't let one bad game turn into two yeah there are very few teams out there that won't watch game film but they may want to skip this one I mean cuz it may hurt their confidence they just need to turn the page and get ready for the next opponent forget this day ever happened third down coming up after the completion caught near the sticks it's there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down well look that wasn't a touchdown that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up Washington has it and a fresh set of downs he wants to throw it again grabbed in the middle it's Coleman he sto just a chain link or two away from the first down and sets them up beautifully here he's looking for a man on second down and he crosses the goal line and gets the touchdown but way too little way too late but they still do count it for six and a nice touchdown continuing to fight continuing to play this one it's pretty much over down multiple possessions this late in the football game it would take a miracle nice job by this offense continue to fight push the ball down the field make plays on the run from inside zone five couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field they're in command of this game now let's see if they tried to rub a little salt in the wound or happy with getting the dou yeah and listen this this makes the post game handshake fun sometimes if you do choose to rub a little Sal in and keep chucking and keep scoring I'm here for it Jesse like your job is to score points it's my job to stop it keep the to the accelerator keep trying to play ball I agree a th% that's like Steve sprayer back in the day when I was playing for the Gators you go and play for him because you want the opportunity to throw the ball so when you get in the game late you're not handing it off we were beating Central Michigan by 80 something points he was still letting us throw the football it's the defense's job to stop they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they need it and he's out to the 43 good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three at the 45 on it way they get the timeout and the clock reads three seconds and after this play the cake will be baked they'll give it to the back that will be the final play as the clock strike zero here when you know you have a team out for last the ability to play to that standard and finish with a blowout like this is really impressive and it's almost like play to get yourself right you know you're better you know you're going to win the football game but how do I continue to still execute this this was so easy great execution a just beat down in every facet I think as a player you just love being in such great Rhythm and we saw that right from the GetGo in this game offense just able to matriculate the ball down the field defense was not giving anything up what a great game plan coming in and this was just Total Domination
