New York Jets Latest Roster Moves After Rookie Minicamp

what is going on Jet fans Matt o back with another video in today's video I'm going to talk about the New York Jets latest roster moves after rookie mini camp rookie mini camp has come and gone really a fun time though to see these guys I know they're just in the you know shorts and a helmet and no pads so really take these things with the grain of salt but it it's like the start it's The Unofficial start of football become you know com back so forgive me for getting a little excited about that I love football I love this team and just seeing the guys out there gets me a little bit Juiced even though fully admit fully understand they don't have pads on and they're still a long way to go but there are some new additions to this team as well as some Cuts so that's what I wanted to start our Tuesday morning with all right first we'll start with the names that the New York Jets added two quarterbacks Andrew Peasley and col suits they also added a defensive back and return specialist Brandon Brandon codrington uh to add those three guys they had to release three players and PeeWee Jarrett was one of those the quarterback Who uh was a really interesting story I know a lot of fans were rooting for him great name too by the way Peewee Jarrett what an incredible name linebacker Trey Jenkins and defensive lineman Manny Jones Okay so for Andrew Peasley he played a ton of time in college football six years same for for Kobe uh suits uh 2018 was his freshman season at Utah State he played his first Four Seasons at Utah State before transferring to Wyoming last year at Wyoming he played in 12 games had a 62.4 completion percentage 1,991 passing yards 20 touchdowns to five interceptions now for Andrew uh he's going to have an uphill battle same thing for kobby suits uphill battle to make this roster because the Jets have three qu qub backs that they are pretty comfortable with and pretty locked in right like Tyrod Taylor is going to be the backup quarterback we know that you also have Aaron Rogers who's going to be the starter not much up for grabs there and Jordan Travis is going to get the red shirt year more than likely as qb3 so these are these are kind of just Camp arms you need Camp arms so uh you know they they are going to serve a role and a purpose here but um not really going to jump out as realistic chances to make this roster unfortunately for Kobe suits uh Houston Christian is where he played last year the last couple years after transferring 56% completion percentage 1,919 yards 13 touchdowns to 10 interceptions now he looks the part though 64 240 he looks like a a quarterback you know when you just see the pictures of him you're like oh that he has the look but is he going to make the team again I would be incredibly surprised if that was the case serves a role as a camp body and a camp arm uh you're not going to see a lot of Aaron roders in the preseason Tyrod Taylor you already know what he is Jordan Travis is TBD where he is going to be with his injury so you know you need some more Camp arms you need some more quarterbacks in here and those two guys will serve that role now Brandon codrington is really interesting because he might have an outside chance of making this roster as a special teamer because he was a return specialist out of North Carolina Central an HBCU school uh really over the last few years just the one of the best punt returners in the country and kickoff returners so like a a return specialist as I said he returned two punts for a touchdown last season and both were over 80 yards so the guy has some incredible Breakaway speed and it's been very well documented with the new NFL rules that special teams is going to play more of a factor the Jets had a really good special teams unit last year their kicker and punter are both very very good Xavier Gibson obviously was a big reason for why they won in week one with the punt return for a touchdown to close out the the game against the Buffalo Bills but outside of that he didn't really do a ton the rest of the season to the point where you were like absolutely no doubt about it Xavier Gibson is our punt returner and and kickoff returner and we can't go another Direction so I think they're going to try some different things out and codrington's going to get a look so we'll see you know in in today's League it's hard to have too many guys who are just exclusive special teamers on your 53 man roster but if he's that good and that much of a difference maker again with the new rules it might be worthwhile so we'll keep an eye on him there so there you go that is the latest roster movement let me know your thoughts Down Below in the comments once again I'm Matt o and I'll catch you guys next time
