Tonight, the Dallas police department is mourning the death of one of their officers. Officer Darren Burks was shot and killed while inside his patrol car. Last night. Two other officers were also injured and they were shot after arriving to help Burkes who'd been shot in the head. The suspect has been identified as 30 year old Corey Cobb Bay. He led police on a chase on I 35 and was eventually shot and killed. Dallas police chief, Eddie Garcia made it clear the suspect did not ambush Officer Burkes instead he walked up to the patrol car, spoke with Burkes then shot him. Our officers were targeted for nothing more than the uniform they wear and for the brave and honorable job that they do. I do want to make something clear. I know that the word ambush has been thrown around in the last 24 hours or so. That's not what happened here. Officer Berks was executed. The police chief went on to say the investigation is in its initial stages but he does plan to release the body cam video from the shooting soon.
