University of Illinois vs. Eastern Illinois Football

[Music] college football is back the Eastern Illinois Panthers take on the Illinois fighting Ali ey for the first time since 2008 looking to get things rolling early for eiu Pierce Holly rolls out of the pocket pulling a pig skin over to El M for a 27 yd completion the Panthers are Marching as Jay Pearson takes the hand off but you know what they say easy come easy go as Seth Colman recovers the fumble to give Illinois the ball [Applause] back things aren't looking good for Eastern as Illinois is up 17 to nothing Iden lafrey wants more running 18 yards an inching closer to another touchdown not if the eiu defense has anything to do with it making not one not two but three stops in the Red Zone Illinois is just automatic winning this one 45 to nothing head coach Chris Wilkerson knows what his team can take away from this game despite it being a shut out loss I was really proud of the kids effort in the second half um I didn't see any quit in our football team and and um you know again we're we're very workmanlike operation we proud ourselves on being blue collar and um we continued to work throughout the game especially when it wasn't easy um and that's you know we'll watch the tape and see if if that's what we can verify but uh I I was proud of their effort just not our execution youth is truth and Illinois head coach Brett belma knows just that 24 new guys that have never played a snap in in uh college football from the University of Illinois so to have that many uh uh different faces uh to go out there and play the well they did as well as they did and then I really you know at halftime we were going to start the second half but I had a feeling if we were in to control that game kind of make a reassessment at the end of the third four start getting some new faces in I thought those guys came in and played uh extremely hard in Champagne I'm Andrew spade for weiu sports watch
