[Music] little bit of a fun video here because when it comes to the Montreal Canadians and their fifth overall pick in the 2024 NHL entry draft Ivan demid do yeah last video it was a fifth overall pick from 2023 Roden berer this time it's demid do we had ourselves a really interesting interview on responsible gambling. org yeah it's the same article same website that promotes all of the stuff with the sports betting but for some reason they do have exclusive articles and interviews at the same time it's kind of weird how this website has kind of put themselves into the spotlight in such an immediate way this summer I feel but either way we had ourselves an interview with Ivan demidov from earlier today that I thought was super interesting to go out there and read big shout out over to the writer of this article Sergey Demi so there you go demid Dov interviewed by demid do and the article title is this Ivan demidov is starting to learn French on YouTube now that you don't even need to read the article you just got to listen to that the fact is Montreal is a place where for years I feel like there was an idea floating around saying hey players don't want to play in Montreal non-french-speaking guys would prefer to go to an English-speaking Market they don't want to learn the language they don't want to deal with the duplicity because the media it's like times two right there's an English media and then there's a French media and sometimes the French media goes out there and talks about stuff that the English media has no idea about it's so interesting to acknowledge the dynamic of mreal sports coverage in both languages and as a result you could debate that it's led to some players may be choosing not to go to Montreal because of that aspect so foran demidov without even reading the article without even seeing what he is saying about this stuff seems like he's embracing the culture which obviously is a great great sign let's go out there and read former Montreal Canadians defenseman Andre marov yeah big shout out over to marov man he recently told rg.us and demidov if he learned French apparently the Muna Canadian's most anticipated Prospect decided to follow that advice I'm starting to learn French myself demid told rj. I started with the letters and basic words I'm learning without a teacher for now I watch videos on YouTube in my free time there are some excellent lessons out there and I like them the hardest thing for now is pronunciation I'm also learning English but it's so much easier I don't know about you but I kind of had to take a moment after reading that I had to kind of remind myself oh yeah the guy's still learning English at the same time like obviously he seemed fine when he was speaking to Kent Hughes when he had the interviews and stuff you know the pre-draft documentary that the Canadians released demidov was fine there I think most English-speaking folks were able to understand him pretty well but it's obvious you know he's not like 100% fluent in the same way that a native English speaker would be so he's still learning he is not totally there yet 100% And so for him to also pick up French whilst finalizing the English knowledge that he has you know it kind of speaks volumes to the character of this guy I will say as well most people will say this but if you are good at English or you kind of are familiar with all the rules of English learning a language like French is a lot easier just because some of the words and the structure conjugations order of stuff it's all pretty similar it's not like you're learning sentences backwards like you would be if you were studying one of those East Asian languages but either way demid learning French learning English at the same time nice to see the Canadians selected demid Dov with the fifth overall pick in 2024 yada y yada in the meantime while demid is not playing in the NHL he's not only learning languages but also studying at the lasaf National State University of physical education Sport and Health a University in St Petersburg I transferred to the second year studying to be a coach I come to lectures when I have time this training regimen applies to all professional athletes I like to study it's interesting to look at hockey from the point of view of coaching and approach to children that is really interesting too I didn't realize that KHL athletes KHL teenagers even are allowed to go to university whilst playing in the KHL I feel like a lot of that would directly interfere with his career right like if you were an NHL player you wouldn't be able to go to college because hey firstly the college goes on at the same time as the NHL season so you're always traveling everywhere you're not going to be able to settle down and if you wanted to go from the college hockey route NCAA colleg at hockey once you start making money in the NHL you're not allowed to be a part of the student program anymore so rules in Russia I guess are different where a KHL athlete who is playing in the KHL at the same time is allowed to go out there in a university and learn and get his education and stuff I mean there are players in the NHL who will do their schooling online whilst playing in the NHL but for Ivan demid he's like yeah I'm going to attend the lectures I'm still there I'm learning about becoming a trainer becoming a coach and learning about physical activity through the lens of education and children this is a really interesting dude and I like it a lot another preparation for Demi's departure into the NHL is gaining weight he says to do this he began working with a nutritionist I started Consulting with a nutritionist who tells me what I need to eat demidov said I don't think about it much but I just follow his recommendations my goal is to gain weight by the time I leave for the NHL I want to weigh around 198 lb right now I weigh 187 lb I also track my body pad percentage before the start of training camp it was at 9% now I'm going to be honest all my physical activity is just playing hockey and running cardio so I really don't do much in terms of tracking all the other stuff with weight and gains and calorie intakes Etc I have friends who do that I'm not really that guy so you know I kind of just go with the flow it serves me well though I run a lot and this entire dietary thing is okay for my lifestyle but it's a lot different when you're a professional hockey player and a guy like demid who is supposed to be the best mtra Canadians Prospect the team has had since Gil ofur so obviously it's good to see him placing emphasis on his own health he did say that he's in the 180 something range and he wants to get up to 194 plus so that is definitely good you know I mean he's not the biggest guy in the world the tallest or the strongest guy out there but if he's able to work on his frame a little bit maybe it bodess well into NHL success down the line although I will say say just because you are bigger just because you are stronger just because you are heavier does not necessarily mean you're going to stay on your feet longer I think a lot of people remember you're I kovski from a year ago in 2022 2023 that guy could not stay on his feet for the life of him as odd enough as that sounds because he was so big but either way let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about Ivan demidov and this latest update about how he is learning French about how he is in a spot where he is tracking his calories and about how he's going to University this guy just gets more interesting with every succeeding interview and I'm kind of all here for it so let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about Montreal Canadians top prospect Ian demidov article is linked in the description as well I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye [Music] [Music]
