When I was a child, I always knew that I would be an athlete. I was only thinking about playing sports, and being the best. Hello, my name is Lucas Mazur, I am 25 years old, and I play Para badminton. I started playing badminton at school, when I was eight or nine years old. I'm doing what I love to do, so I'm very lucky to do this every day. When I was three years old, I had a terrible accident. I became left handed, but I have been very lucky to be able to walk again. To have a disability is not a problem. I mean, you can turn it into having a chance to do something, to be a good ambassador or a good athlete because, if you follow your dream you can do anything. I'm trying to say to the young generation to play sport, to do something, not stay at home and watch TV. To be the best you have to do a lot of things before, to train very hard, to learn, to lose, to win. To become a champion you need to train every day. When I won a gold and silver at Tokyo 2020, it meant to me that I made history, because I became the first Paralympic champion in my category, in SL4 category. All the sacrifice and dedication is worth it, because dreams come true. I mean, I was dreaming about being an athlete and also being a champion. I guess by now my next big dream is, of course, to win Paris, because I want to stay at the top and I want to write the history again. When I came to Tokyo, for example, I didn't know the pressure about media, about family like this, and everybody is watching you. It's one time in four years, and you have to be the best, right now, on this moment, today. It changed my life because when I came back, I could feel the proud in the eyes of my family, but also in the city. When I was walking or taking the bus, or the train, everybody knew my face, and came to me and that was very special. I can feel the excitement in France because everybody is talking about Olympics and Paralympics coming home. And that is very important for the French people, because we want to organise something very good. We know that we can do it. We are hosting the Paralympics 2024 in Paris. Hope to see you soon, and let's go.
