'M DEVON WALSH. OUR BIG STORY AT FIVE. ALL EYES ARE ON LOUISIANA, THE GULF COAST. THERE AS HURRICANE FRANCINE MAKES LANDFALL. MOMENTS AGO, THAT STATE BRACING FOR THE IMPACTS, INCLUDING HEAVY RAIN, STRONG WINDS AND COASTAL FLOODING. LET'S TAKE A LIVE LOOK AT THE I-10 TWIN SPAN BRIDGE ACROSS LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN, JUST OUTSIDE OF NEW ORLEANS. YOU CAN SEE THE RAIN THERE IS HEAVY RIGHT NOW. LET'S GO AHEAD AND CHECK IN WITH OUR CHIEF METEOROLOGIST, ED BLOODSWORTH, WHO IS FOLLOWING FRANCINE'S TRACK AND THE IMPACTS THAT WE WILL SEE ON OUR STRETCH OF THE GULF COAST. AND AS YOU JUST MENTIONED, LANDFALL JUST OCCURRED AT THE TOP OF THE HOUR AT 5:00. THIS, ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IN TERREBONNE PARISH, LOUISIANA, CAME ASHORE AS A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE WITH A MAXIMUM WINDS OF 100MPH. IT DID STRENGTHEN DUE TO SOME BUOY DATA AND SOME OFFSHORE OIL RIGS. WE ACTUALLY SAW SOME GUSTS EARLIER TODAY. OVER 110MPH. SO THIS WILL GO DOWN AS A CATEGORY TWO LANDFALL. SO THE STORM CONTINUES TO MOVE INLAND VERY LARGE CENTER OF CIRCULATION OR EYE WITH THIS AND THAT NORTHERN EYEWALL CONTINUES TO MOVE INLAND NOW. SO AGAIN, PRESSURE AT 9 OR 972. THIS CONTINUES TO BRING HEAVY RAIN THROUGH LOUISIANA. THERE IS THE NORTHERN EYEWALL MOVING THROUGH THIBODAUX, HOUMA, GOLDEN MEADOW, MOVING ITS WAY UP TOWARDS DONALDSONVILLE. JEAN LAFITTE COULD ALSO GET SOME SIGNIFICANT RAIN, AN AREA THAT DOES NOT DO WELL WITH FLOODING, SO THIS WILL WEAKEN AS IT MOVES INTO MISSISSIPPI AND BRING PLENTY OF RAIN. AND NOW TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS FOR OUR NECK OF THE WOODS. RIGHT NOW IT'S LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN THAT CONTINUES TO FALL EVEN INLAND. NOW. BUT WE'RE ALSO WATCHING THESE INDIVIDUAL THUNDERSTORMS SITTING OFFSHORE FOR A POSSIBLE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT. TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS UNCHANGED. MOBILE BAY, BALDWIN, MOBILE COUNTY, ALL OF OUR MISSISSIPPI COUNTIES. WE COULD ALSO SEE TROPICAL STORM FORCE GUSTS OVER INTO NORTHWEST FLORIDA. A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE OFFSHORE WATERS, BUT WE WILL ANTICIPATE A TORNADO WATCH WILL BE ISSUED FOR OUR AREA LATER ON THIS EVENING. SO WE'RE GOING TO CALL FOR THESE OUTER BANDS TO BE THE MAIN ISSUE HERE. THE WINDS GET STRONGER AS WE MOVE PAST SUNSET TONIGHT WITH THOSE TROPICAL STORM GUSTS. AND THEN LOOKING AT SOME INTENSE WEATHER COMING ON THROUGH, THOSE WILL BE VERY
