DEBATE WITH CALLER: Is VP Harris Held to an Unfair Standard Compared to Trump?

my days are cooler nights are warmer and I put the blame on you time moves slow my heart beats fast when these eyes are looking right at you right at you you give me something to believe in just what I needed you're the closest uh let's head over to Maryland and welcoming Mr douglas douglas and Maryland hello hey hey good afternoon good afternoon hi just a couple of real quick words about uh vice president Harris's performance last night uh but let me preface it by saying I'm a 62y old black man been black all my life down for the cause in many different ways uh but suffice it to say that I am glad that the popular opinion is that she won uh debate I think it's important that she focus on keeping some things in house you know uh there were a couple of moments there where she was beginning to uh get a little swerve on in her facial expressions and I thought ah she's still got to win over those whites have never been women men so so hold on hold on Douglas hold on and and can we have this conversation I want to have this conversation with you because I contend that it is our keeping it inh housee that has slowed the progress that we need to have in this country because what we've done is abdicate our real power meaning our true selves to this world that may Dain to S suppress us oppress us put us in a box but every time we break out and become our full selves when I I'm watching a a a reality show with Mormons Mormon wives or something it's on Hulu and they are using our vernacular okay I'm like where y'all get that you got that from us okay so you you love our Rhythm hate our Blues but until we walk into our full selves whatever that is you know maybe this is who you are Douglas and be that but yeah all of that is not these these especially the in Appalachia especially the folk in Middle America they they embody Black Culture in ways they can't even understand most of them were raised on rap and hip hop thinking that you know that's who we are and it's not we're so complex which is why they can't ever be ready for us when we show up you know what I'm saying but I hear what you're saying but I was perfectly okay with all with the neck the ey roll all of that Douglas I didn't think I didn't think you know so if somebody's sitting there going oh my God she she rolled her eyes I'm not voting for her you w voting who whoa whoa whoa whoa hold hold a minute I didn't I didn't I didn't take it there and say that anybody was falling out and and oh she rolled her eyes and she did a neck R I didn't say that at all what did you I just simply said I said win win win and then after you have won I'm not talking about deceiving anyone I'm not talking about holding back your true character I'm talking about winning first because there's still a ton of people out there that can't seem to figure out left from right up from down and they're going to vote for that idiot I am simply saying sister win and I'm simply saying anybody that would vote for that idiot was going to vote for that idiot and there's really nothing she can do and that's pretty much the trick I'm just I'm saying something much deeper and it's going Beyond this election cycle anybody that is is thinking anything about you're looking for a reason not to vote for her as opposed to you know really being an honest human being right so that's not somebody that was going to probably vote for her anyway so why twist yourself into a pretzel it's like the Democrats going after that middle American white male voter that has never that will never come back not since the southern strategy but you are abandoning the very base that's growing by Leaps and Bounds every day and you're making people feel disenfranchised who actually show up for you all the time I'm saying the time is now to step into our power and I'm I'm saying the time is now to step into our fullness and I'm saying the time is now to go get all the things we need to get because we have everything it's right there that's what I'm saying Douglas I understand what you're saying I just don't agree with you no I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not sure you do understand everything I'm saying I'm not sure that you do and that's that's not a jab or an insult to to to level the conversation and I'm glad you don't because you shouldn't I don't right so so explain expl it like you know I'm a 5-year-old explain it to us no I'm not I'm not going to explain it to you like you're a 5-year-old because you're not a 5-year-old no but I'm saying if I don't understand it then this is clearly either you're not explaining it well or there's something that I'm missing so let's let let's understand what are you actually saying I I am simply saying that all of the things that you mentioned are true about rap music about our culture being appropriated and and then uh taken as their own and so on and so forth let's look at this experience with Beyonce and Country Music we don't have to go too far down that path but we know that the origins of country music were not as white and apple po apple pie as as some people would like for it to be what I am saying is that there are those people that look at a black woman in power and they resent it but you know what they say to themselves well I got this guy talking about eating cats and dogs but I've got this other woman that's standing here and she's presidential and I can relate to her she has every opportunity to be that person I I don't recall I don't recall I know they're two different people I know they're two different genders but I don't recall Barack Obama rolling his head and popping his ey I don't recall I don't I totally understood you Douglas and I still disagree with you and um would you a title to your opinion I totally I got you the first three times you said the same point still don't agree um and I'm saying something that maybe you don't understand and that's okay I'mma keep talking though uh 8668 01825 and I thank you for calling let's go to James of North Carolina hello hi James James All right yes yes James let's go Hey Garrett Hey Garrett come on come on what you doing I I I was trying to make sure I was was uh keeping up with with the conversation well me too I was trying to give me a headache Douglas trying to give me a headache trying to sound all aidite on the damn air wve saying nothing but go I mean saying something but nothing that you know matters to us at this point it's those it's those fake masculine dudes and stuff that really irritates me I'm not even go let's not even go there because I don't know what his proclivities are in terms of you know uh that level of whatever but I do think that he is stuck in a way of thinking that um shouldn't exist anymore and the only way that it it it goes away is by us walking into our full selves and not accepting it so I'm not accepting it I however she shows up she's still smarter better greater and that should be enough and if it's not enough then you you have other issues underlying if you're not going to vote for her because she rolled her neck then you're and and this man's talking about eating cats and dogs and we not talking about fun cats and dogs we talking about actual people eating cats and dogs and hanimal Lector and all this other nonsense that he was talking about we're gonna end up in World War II all of the stuff he was saying last night and you think that that's the better choice we have no nothing in common nothing there's nothing to talk about but go ahead James that's not why you called I was I was I was I was just about to start dating someone and we watched a debate last night together and she said out of her mouth the exact same thing he said why she keep rolling her eyes I said ho ho ho ho what what do you mean like what she can't show OT she's supposed to be a woman she's not supposed to be doing all that stuff I like so you're saying to me that you're not thinking about voting for this lady because she's showing some emotions I don't think that's right so you know what I think this is a deal breaker for me I don't think we should be talking anymore Ser like like yeah yeah oh my God I want to give you a high five for having uh standards better go ahead yes you're not getting all this goodness because you're stupid just like I can't what do we have in common I love I mean I don't love that you you know missed out on potential whatever but that's her loss I feel like it's her loss you feel like the the prize in this scenario um but I'm glad this is how we we find out who people are you watch the debate with this woman I love it oh man that's wild that's wild James thank you for sharing that today welcome you have a blessed day you too com Harris out here ruining relationships oh he was like uhuh no I can't I cannot be with you it's like but you know what she he's she's saying what Douglas is saying it's infected in black people you're hearing this from black people and we've been in this country some of us 400 years five six Generations some just came whatever how have you got here to come to a country that literally built its entire mythology on the backs of black people turned around took the music we built Hollywood the music industry all the things that make people billionaires trillionaires all of this the tech that's out here is because we're on it whether we're talking about Twitter or Tik Tok and then you got that nerve to say we should change how we are when we are the culture I'm saying something's backwards here so we're supposed to fold ourselves into little tiny versions of comfort for them and not be while they take our culture turn around and make money off of it and then we're supposed to beg for our Humanity at the same no no this is why we're here this is why police officers feel like they have the right and the license to do whatever and all of the people wagging their finger at Tariq Hill for not rolling down his window I have seen white people cuss police officers out I've seen white people kill black people and get taken to Burger King gently gently gently handcuffed just done murdered a whole school full of people gently taking in taking in so no miss me with with that miss me with the double standards cooler nights are War [Music] and I put the blame on you time mov slow my heart be F when these eyes are looking right at you right at you you give me something to believe in just what I needed you're the closest
