Live team coverage for you at noon. Getting a look at just how much damage these storms caused, especially in Muskegon County, Julie o'hare is just outside of the city of Muskegon, Jeremiah Brown in Whitehall, and Nathan Lee in Twin Lake. But first we begin with meteorologist, Samantha Jack said, uh, she's just north of Muskegon. Let's get right out to you, Sam, where exactly are you? And what are you seeing at this hour? Emily, we're here at Pioneer Park in Mike, North Muskegon at that with a community that was hit really hard by the wind damage last night. In fact, a family here for a reunion, a couple of days that was supposed to be spent having fun being outside, you know, surrounded, like you said by beautiful trees earlier, rich and Patty. Thank you so much for being here to talk to us this afternoon. Tell us a little bit about what happened last night, about five o'clock this morning, we were both in our tent sleeping and we heard this large wind and suddenly our, our, our tent just kind of like expanded and then my wife's side of the tent started to collapse first and then we heard this loud whoosh and a tree fell down on our tent. Um, when my wife screamed, I turned to, um, see what was going on and the tree ended up landing, had to kind of crawl out of the tent. And now we're trying to assess the damages and get things back together and continue on with our trip. And a true miracle that nobody was hurt. No one from your family was hurt. Tent's just completely gone because of the trees. Petty. That moment when you yelled to your husband, what was that like for you? Oh, it was scary. It, it was scary. Um I'm gonna get emotional here. Um Yeah, so that my te my um part of the tent had collapsed and I think by um yelling to him, um he moved and missed the tree and now you guys are and now here to what are the next steps? What are you, how are you spending the rest of the week? It's supposed to be a family reunion. You're supposed to be here for a few more days. What's next? We're going to continue the family reunion. We may find a hotel or some place to stay for the night because our tent gone. My older brother and his wife, the same tree came down on their tent. So we may be looking for other arrangements, but we're going to continue and just the fish fry will be on the fish fry lives on. Thank you so much. You know what your spirits have just been the sunshine surrounding this stormy stormy day that we had. We are here in Pioneer Park where they're picking up the pieces. There are trees inside of RVS, tents completely collapsed, but nobody thankfully was hurt from these storms reporting. Live from Muskegon. I'm meteorologist, Samantha Jack. All right, Sam. Thank you. Of course, the damage from this morning's storms is so severe that Muskegon County has now activated its emergency operations center. The county posting the message on its Facebook page saying, quote, the northern areas of the county have been greatly impacted, police fire, ems tree crews line crews and road crews are very busy. It goes on to say any calls to 911, make those calls if you have a life threatening emergency, authorities say 50% of the local roads, there are impassable mainly due to down power lines and you could just see even from our team coverage, seeing the shots of all of our reporters out in the field. Many of them just have debris circling them. Staying in Muskegon this afternoon.
