Reagan - Movie Review

Reagan is this the film to finally NAB star Dennis quaade his long overdue Oscar uh Reagan directed by the same director of films such as cats and dogs 3 Rober sapen and Bratz Dennis quaade plays Ronald Reagan we meet him as a Young Man where he's still trying to fight find his fo in in life where he's Guided by his father played by Kevin Soo Ronald Reagan becomes an actor in Hollywood a leading man in be movies and he starts to become more interested in world events and politics and his uh fellow actor wife Jane Wyman played by Mino sari is uh not happy about this uh Jane eventually becomes a bigger star in Hollywood than Ronald and this combin with the fact that she's not interested in politics they eventually divorce a few a few years later Ronald's Fame in Hollywood is declining so he enters into politics and once he's a senator he meets at the current president of the Screen Actors Guild Nancy Davis played by penel and Miller they become uh romantically involved and a few years later they get married with Nancy by his side he decides to run for president as his current role as Senator he's limited to to what he wants to achieve in his life and his political career Reagan is director by Sha mamara who early in his career directed multiple many many uh family kids films but in recent years has uh been directing the lucrative um faith-based drama film uh mamar the director he mostly works with uh the same actors in Reagan that he's worked with before like uh quaade Mila and John Voit and Kevin Zoro the framing of the story in Reagan is uh in set in the present day Russia where a leading Russian politician visits a um very old Russian politician played by John Voit who um they discuss he wants to um discuss the young politician wants to discuss his dealings with Ronald Ragan in the um early 1980s but they forget to close off these threads like they completely forget about these characters in the second half of the film and so it just ends up feeling like a lazy way to Chronicle Ronald Reagan's life Dennis Quaid looks nothing like Ronald Reagan but he does NA his voice uh pretty well but uh the voice comes and goes uh throughout the film and so sometimes he just looks and and acts and sounds like Dennis quaade it's like they decided um to make Dennis Quid sound like Ronald for about 30 minutes and then um for the rest of the film they didn't even bother and I'm not sure quite sure why they didn't even try to use um some Prosthetics to make uh Dennis look like uh the former president just even a little the film skims through Ronald's life very very quickly that like in one scene he's contemplating running for president and then literally in the next the exact next scene he is um one of the leading candidates for uh president and they're tallying up his votes and then when he loses one election he decides to run again in one sing and then literally the next sing he's been sworn in as president very quick he he becomes president in in this film about the 65 minute Mark and uh the film uh deals with his presidency where he is um dealing with the Russians and their possession of uh nuclear weapons Ronald becomes involved in a scandal that tarnishes his legacy and presidency and this film very simply and and um just tries to set up to tear down uh this war speech uh as a way to save his career and it's just there's no detail and no Nuance to that um at all in this film the film tries to be a propaganda piece to how great a man Ronald was but it even fails to do that it just makes him look look to be a man who would do whatever it takes to to be popular and do whatever he thinks the P um the public want him to do and don't even get me started on the final scenes of him um having Al's disease and and his last ride on his horse it's very silly I give Reagan one and a half stars out of five uh it just feels like a w wikipedia lesson on his life there's just no detail there's it just I don't understand who this film is for is a film if it's for for fans of Reagan you you won't learn anything new and if you don't know anything about the former president uh you better off not seeing this film it just just skips so many details it just skims through his life thanks for watching please subscribe to my channel and like the video see you [Music]
