ready play yeah he reached his first quarterfinal at the US Open last year and he's looking to go back to back however last year I think he played jovic this year he could be maybe from more of an opportunistic quarterfinal perhaps it'd be Nakashima roev yeah and there's an ace it's his 24th Ace I believe and he's a big screen from the American number one as he takes the Victory and beats Casper Roode quite quite comfortably after losing that first set and he was by far the better player and uh moves on to the quarterfinals and his seed he surpassed his seeded uh expectations I [Laughter] suppose yeah um I mean look we we talked a lot on the stream about how rude was maybe coming up short and areas but from the way you've been describing things sort of very well um it has to sound like also Taylor Fritz played the best he could possibly play right yeah I I think he didn't even play badly in that first set I think he just wasn't necessarily utilizing his weapon to the full capacity and after that first I me R's level did drop slightly and his serve wasn't as effective but Fritz's serve and his forehand just came into an element of their own and he was really just using it to his strength he was he was manipulating rud around the core the correct way and uh I think that'll be big for him to to get his first victory over Roode um obviously lost the previous two and he's won their first meeting on an outdoor hardcore especially in front of his uh home Grand Slam crowd and he'll probably have a a match on Arthur rash now potentially possibly against a comp in Nakashima but he have to pull off a big shock against farv later this evening I mean that would be huge if it was all America that would probably be night session if it was Fritz yeah I would you'd think so by the way Fritz has but that win has kind of helped FZ in his quest to maintain his status as the US number one um the only way now that he could probably Lo that should be fairly secure unless Tommy Paul upsets Yan yeah obviously Ben Shelton's lost a significant amount of points as he was a semi-finalist last year I don't know Nakashima is obviously not going to be testing Paul for number America number one but he might been making a a nice jump up the rankings this tournament yeah well live ranked Fritz is ahead of Paul now because of that win yeah Paul can only now move back ahead of him who beat c um obviously France is is still in the mix and if he somehow won the US Open that just changes everything but be a big big shock um it would be yeah it would be a moment that's for sure but yeah Taylor Fritz looking very very good at the minute if you enjoyed this video make sure you hit that like button don't forget to subscribe and click that notification Bell so you don't miss out on all things tennis
