Is Will Rogers the right QB for Jedd Fisch's first season at Washington? | ALL Big Ten Podcast

new quarterback new entire wide receiver room uh new coach you got Jed fish coming in from Arizona now look Jed fish was able to take an Arizona team from one win to 10 wins in a pretty short order he's actually bringing over 12 Wildcats transferring over to the team so there is a little bit some stability there but Cy I'm really curious to see where you have them Landing because they're one of the more polarizing teams in the Big 10 outside of maybe Nebraska some people have them possibly competing for double digit wins other people have them in the middle the pack so where do you have Washington kind of Landing right now heading into you know this weekend yeah I I feel like they're going to be uh maybe like a seven or eight win game uh Team I really don't think they're going to be as good as people are saying think about all the people they graduated they graduated Michael penck Jr uh Roman dun two top uh offensive linemen two yeah so they they they graduated a lot of Firepower there and I I I think they're going to win some games I think they have some but I think this is a tough matchup coming into the Big 10 now with the schedule of the way it is like the big 10 and secc there's some of the toughest schedules in the game so I think this is going to be a tough year I have him about seven or eight wins and hey if they go above that that'll be a great season for them considering all the people they graduated yeah starting in October uh they host Michigan they go to Iowa they host USC they're at Penn State you know that one's going to be a difficult kind of tra traveling trip just for them and then obviously they finish at Oregon so the second half definitely stiffens up on them a little bit um I do think that there is some confidence that Will Rogers will be able to not replicate what Michael pennick did but maybe you know try and do a bit of a assimile to put some points on the board and this is another team again that scored a lot of points last year it's coming over the Big 10 when they make meet those BigTime defenses again you know where's the rubber meeting the road on that one are the defense is going to win out or is it possible that Washington's offense is enough to maybe pick up a couple of those wins Cory I mean it's going to be really interesting to see yeah it's going to be interesting year and um yeah it's just it's so it's interesting to see like now saying Big 10 and saying Washington and Oregon right the Pacific Northwest out there like being traveling and imagine teams like Ruckers and and Maryland and all that having having a game where they have to go all the way across or vice versa with school and all that that's going to be a lot over there there's going to be a lot of sleeping on planes I'll tell you that well Cory I want to ask a little bit about that like as a football player something I never was what is it like going from the other side of the country to your place in New Jersey then going in place uh Michigan and Washington then going to kinck then going to Indiana then going back to Washington to face USC and then oh hey here's a break you get to go to Happy Valley like it just seems back and forth ping ponging what does ping ponging do to your body and having to deal with both school and travel I think uh the stress of that right the jet lag uh especially if you're going from East Coast time zone right all the way to Pacific time zone it throws you off and you're having to get acclimated you got different climates different weather um so I I I think it's hard especially when you're having to balance school and doing that so think about like there's going to be a lot more virtual tests for players something that they probably never did in the past but they're going to have to make exceptions because of the schedule the way it is is what it is um so I think it's it's definitely something they're going to have to adjust to just because the travel is so when I played you know we Iowa Indiana um Penn State like Ohio State those were like the the furthest games away like everything was within a quick plane ride now you know if you're East Coast team going to the West Coast or vice versa you're talking about five six hours on the plane so it's a whole different experience it's almost like you're going to London like in the NFL to play a game and you know I know it's it's a couple more hours but that jet lag is real just being able to travel and having you know your legs stiffen up and Recovery um it definitely impacts you a lot more than people think and I know people were were very hesitant oh why are they gonna do that but I think ultimately as time goes on they're going to get used to it but it's going to take some time for that well look Cory there's a first time for everything and in Washington's case that's what you're going to get with a big 10 schedule this first year and I don't think anyone knows how it's going to shake out
