Elon Musk funded group against Travis County DA José Garza, Wall Street Journal reports

Tonight. A new report details that tech mogul and Texas resident Elon Musk secretly spent thousands of dollars trying to influence a local political race. According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk spent $650,000 to try and block Travis County district attorney Jose Garza's re election. The report says Musk primarily funded the saving Austin political Action Committee during March's Democratic primary. Now we told you about that mysterious group months ago, it sent out flyers targeting Garza stating that he was quote, filling the streets with pedophiles and killers end quote at the time. Garza's Democratic primary challenger Je Jeremy released a statement saying he was not affiliated with that group despite the ads, Garza won the primary by more than 30 points. Now, the Wall Street Journal reports, the group was primarily funded by Musk, citing people familiar with his involvement as well as federal and corporate documents. Musk has not replied to the journal's reporting but Garza's campaign team has today. His campaign issued a statement reading in part quote, Elon Musk marches in lockstep with Maga Republicans. They tried to buy an election in Travis County with a shell game of dark money groups and nauseating scare tactics. But the voters had their say and the billionaires lost Garza still faces a Republican challenger this fall. Daniel Betts, remember the deadline to register to vote this fall is October 7th.
