Sunday quarterback time Sean what a debut for Dylan Rola that's our starting point you know sometimes you get these high touted quarterbacks and they don't live up to the billing he more than did that on Saturday yeah very few true freshmen can do what he did in his opening game at that position uh to come in and manage it look he does not look like a freshman to get up there and calmly command a two-minute offense to check into a run call that leads to a 42 yard run you just don't see kids do you're just trying to teach them to make one or two reads let Lo checks that changed the entire face of a game so uh this was what you wanted it to be if not more and it's hard not to be excited about the future of this offense with Dylan riola under center before we get to running backs I want to ask you about wide receivers because Dylan really spread the ball around I think 11 different Huskers caught a pass and obviously some of that had to do with garbage time but he really likes to distribute to more than one receiver obviously neor had the big day but man they've got a lot of weapons yeah naor Banks you saw carer Nelson boner jaor Barney they have upgraded that receiver position as much as any position other than quarterback maybe on this football team and to kind of put it in perspective last year's starting offense those were the guys that were in the game in the fourth quarter when you talk about the quarterback and the receivers um when the game kind of was in in mop-up Duty time so that really shows you the improvements that Matt Rule and his coaching staff have made to this roster that guys that were starting and running this show a year ago didn't get in this game game until late yeah no question about it you know earlier in the week Matt R says he didn't want to play Four running backs Marcus safield says we don't want to play Four running backs during the season but at least for one day it worked out yeah they they were able this is the kind of game where you could do it and it felt like Dante Dell was about to emerge to a 15 carry 120 130 yard game had the fumble he did come back in for at least one or two plays did not get another carry after the fumble um but look we're going to see Dowell like we'll see him against Colorado he looked too good at times with what he brought to the table um you know and rir Johnson gave them a good effort EMT Johnson and Colorado's not a great defense so I think Nebraska next week they want to be able to run the ball on the buffalos and do a lot of things on the ground to slow the pace down so those running backs next week will be a big part of this game what did you see defensively from Nebraska that gives you confidence against a high-powered Colorado offense well they were throwing the kitchen sink today literally with the five wides and all the different looks that they were given and I thought they were prepared they looked veteran um you know they had the one coverage bus but that's every football game ever you know when you you you're going to see a play like that that happens I thought they recovered and the the key moment was the safety for the defense to bounce back 7 s a little bit stress in that game at that point the fumble and they get the 97 change then they also get the interception those two moments really turn the football game no question about it all right how do you handle the hype this week just embrace it CU it's fun this is what it's all about this is why you're at Nebraska for a game and a Saturday like we're going to see next week um don't try to downplay this is going to be a fun fun week this is going to be a fun game in the stadium one of the more memorable scenes that we've seen with Dion Sanders will where the sunglasses at night I'm guessing yes so we'll get the full prime time uh but man you know you got to go back to maybe the Miami game Andy and 2014 the last time there's going to be this type of anticipation for a home game and how big was it to get one under your belt at home to kind of work out some of the Kinks this wasn't perfect Saturday but man it was a step in the right direction well and just to take the stress off your starters like think about even Louisiana Tech last year you had to play your starters the whole way to to take your key guys out in the late third quarter and take the stress off the snaps and then let everybody have fun you don't understand what that does for the culture of a building because everybody's like man I got in this is great I mean just the feeling that these guys will have when they go back to work Sunday and Monday for Colorado um it's exactly what Nebraska needed and it's unfortunate they have not been able to win an opener because these openers like winning this game the way they did it just goes so far in building the culture for the rest of the season yeah the Huskers win their first opener in five years Huskers do what they're supposed to do Colorado did what they're supposed to do one and0 Nebraska taking on one and0 Colorado in prime time here at Memorial Stadium next Saturday
