alrighty ladies and gentlemen we are back and it is our local hour um look man Georgia is fresh off I would argue the easiest schedule maybe ever in the regular season perhaps depending on how far back your history goes but like as far as I can remember last year preseason absolute dog waterer schedule I mean you only had one preseason ranked opponent on the schedule last year I believe going into the season and that was Tennesseee in mid November now it turned out to be a little bit better than that um Old Miss ended up being ranked Kentucky ended up being ranked Tennessee remained ranked by the time you got there um you know Auburn gave you a sweat like there was all kinds of different things that made it a sec you know typical schedule buto that out- of conference schedule not great Bob like we all know what it was the Oklahoma game got robbed whatever you can make all the excuses but bottom line not a great schedule last year not at all probably they easiest definitely their easiest under the Kirby Smart regime and going into this year going into this year duh buddy you could argue this is the toughest schedule georg's ever played ever played and we're going to try to make that argument now um because if you just look at it preseason ranking if you go off of ESPN's fbii Clemson's ranked preseason number 15 you open neutral site there in Atlanta it's not really a neutral site but you get it um you're at Texas very early on in the year number three team in the country preseason rank um you go to Tuscaloosa and yeah B's in a quote unquote rebuild and a transition a regime change whatever still a top 10 football team ranked number eight preseason uh Tennessee H great football game uh at home that's great ranked number 13 preseason and then oh by the way you got to go on the road in the middle of November to Old Miss who's preseason ranked number five boys it does not get tougher than what Georgia has on their slate coming up other than maybe what Florida's got on theirs um but in terms of Georgia history is this the toughest season in terms of regular season slate that they've ever had I mean I would say so from as like you said as far as I can remember because I even in those early days but like before Kirby smar here that you're out of conference games where're like oh we're going to go play Colorado at Colorado we're what's up Boise State yeah we're going to play Arizona State like those types of out of conference games and those are fun because they're teams that you don't normally play but it's not what you're doing now that that are now in conference games and out of conference so I think it absolutely is definitely within the last 25 years there's only one schedule I could find that even kind of holds a flame to this and it's the 2008 schedule you open the season with Georgia Southern in central Michigan easy dubs then you travel to a South Carolina coached by Steve spur who always had your number Clowny yep immediately after that no that was uh pre- Clowny okay uh then after that you go to Arizona State which is very weird so after two weeks on the road come back home and play number eight Alabama which was the eventual SEC West Champion we all know how that game went then you play Tennessee then you play 22 ranked Vanderbilt so they had a pulse That season then you're immediately traveling to Baton Rouge to play number 11 LSU before your byee then you play number five Florida which was the eventual National Champion close out the season at Kentucky at Auburn and then against number 18 Georgia Tech so that's the only other schedule where I could be like wow that was a really difficult schedule so five ranked opponents on the on the preseason slate since 2005 how many times do you think georg's played five ranked opponents in a singular season 2008 was one of them three good guess I'm gonna go two five five times in 2005 they did it in 2008 obviously the one you just talked about 13 14 and 16 wow here's what happened or here's what was happening during this time Florida was really good Florida was good Florida's really good South Carolina wasn't no slap dick either no South Carolina was good you know Tennessee and the dos era was ranked every once in a while like there were things going on in the SEC East I think this decline in these top five top 25 matchups is directly result of the East being bad now there's no divisions now you have five ranked opponents on your schedule suddenly oh by the way there were also years in here where Tech was ranked like really high yeah and your out of conference schedule was a lot bar I mean you open the season against a Boise State team that was ranked then the two years in uh 2013 in 2014 where you played Clemson to open the season they were ranked teams then so it makes sense as to why there's been a decline recently to these kind of um ranked matchups and it's it's honestly because there's less of an incentive to do so it just so happens that the schedule works out this week because most of them are Conference teams Jake from Kell Moore who you got Jake from I guess I don't know I I don't know D kellmore won a lot of games he won like 50 games didn't he yeah he did did he he play four years though yeah yeah oh yeah oh yeah big time he played a long time do we think just a little just a little thought experiment there Jake from just because he played in bigger moments I'm going Kell Mo just because of his uh coaching career that's fine um yeah those two are Spider-Man meme if I've ever seen I think what also makes Georgia schedule intriguing like off the fact that Tennessee is um already respectable enough I think what makes Tennessee even more interesting is that you're not getting Nico firsttime starter early in the year still kind of getting feeling out the ropes and whatnot it's you basically in a full season at this point he's been on a few Road games like he's kind of settled in at this point Nico in a Tennessee offense that is going to continue to be successful and I mean you're going to have I the defense is what it is it improved drastically though this last year know they lost some guys but I think that the timing of when you play Tennessee makes it Ultra interesting as well yeah and it's almost like you're seeing kind of this Resurgence in the Eastern Division like for a long time Tennessee was really bad Florida was is bad still but South Carolina has more of a pulse now you're seeing a lot of these teams that were kind of dormant in the last five seasons have get better not to where the point where it's like holy these are teams you really have to worry about on your schedule but it's teams like like hey that's not an easy win anymore MH oh miss in my opinion is really going to I think they're going to be good but the thing about Old Miss is it's really going to depend on espec considering when you play them you play them later in the season it's going to depend on what type of season Old Miss has had at that point because if Old Miss has already lost two games at that point I know that's still in the top 12 range but they're not going to be as hyped up and as jacked up at for that game maybe not or maybe three three losses I would say at that point and you also I mean this speaks to everybody in college football now you got to be very careful with mercenary behavior um when you have hired guns and there's no longer money on the line or there's no longer Stakes on on the line mercenaries tend to pack their up and go home I think we learned that with Florida State I think we've learned that with what happened very quickly with Michigan State I think we learned that with kind of what happened with Colorado this year there a couple games where they laid laid their ass down we saw what happened with Texas A&M even though that was more of a a high recruiting payout type of deal not necessarily transfer induced but when you have these Hired Guns when you bring these guys in for one season hey let's go try to win a title when the title's no longer on the on the board what do we look like in November um that is a very very good point from you
