we've got breaking news out of the NFL Kansas city wide receiver Maris Hollywood Brown is not expected to play in Thursday night's season opener against the Baltimore Ravens Brown has been dealing with a shoulder injury since the chief's first preceding game he was one of the team's big offseason acquisitions as they tried to enhance their wide receiver Arsenal for Patrick Mahomes along with first round draft Pig Xavier worthy here's more on Brown status from Chief's head coach Andy Reid yeah I don't think you'll have Hollywood this week Hollywood won't be back this week and we'll just see how it goes but that kid is amazing his progress has been incredible now let's turn to NFL analyst Ryan Wilson for more insights Ryan what's your reaction to this news the Chiefs acquired a marquee player in Hollywood Brown and he's missing the first game against the team that drafted him the ra a Jeremy unless Patrick Mahomes changed his name to meis Hollywood Brown I think the Chiefs are going to be okay they knew with the shoulder injury that meus would be out for a bit so this isn't a huge surprise they also recently resigned Juju Smith Schuster who previously played for them and with Xavier worthy their first round pick from Texas with blazing 4.2 speed they're still strong the big bigger concern isn't so much Hollywood brown but rather the status of Rashid rice because there was concern he might be suspended that hasn't happened so he'll be there in week one against the Ravens and that's a big plus last year Rashi rice was second among all rookie wide receivers in receptions and yards and third in touchdowns his yards after catch ability was among the best in the League last year having him available even if Hollywood Brown is sidelined for a few weeks is a boon for the Chiefs they face the Ravens and then the Bengals both at home in Kansas City hopefully Hollywood will return by week two but we can't say for sure yet regardless with George KD Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid leading the charge the chiefs' offense is in good shape as for brown he hasn't completed a full season since 2021 due to injuries with the last two seasons spent with the Arizona Cardinals how significant is this setback for him considering his one-year deal and recent struggles to maintain his Marquee status
