MLB The Show 24: Game 3: Yankees vs Cubs

hello and welcome thanks for joining us MLB the Show brings you the game of the week it's the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs and now your 20 and we'll be back to the first pitch right after this so just about set and towing the slab here Jared Jones been a pretty impressive first year in the big leagues for him well he's a rookie of the year candidate and what I'm impressed by is his ability to make quick adjustments the control and command has been there something you don't see in young pitchers but I think he's got more than just rck of the Year potential but perhaps a sa in the future set to go now it's the second baseman gaver Torres and a pitch just [Applause] missed here comes the pitch that one down the line ever steps on the bag one out in the top of the first as we take a look now at the New York Yankees lineup one point of concern hitting in that two hole Alex Verdugo yeah slumping a little bit in this series just two hits to this point but he's certainly a guy that could still make an impact in this one it'll be interesting to see though if he makes any adjustments or if the pitchers continue to have the upper hand against it here's Alex Verdugo that one misses and that's ball one Jones in his rookie season he features a four seam fast ball a slider and he works in a change up one down base is empty fought off foul [Applause] that catches the corner one out base is [Applause] empty goes down swinging for the strikeout he notches strikeout number 150 this season two outs B is empty Aaron judge stepping in now for the Yankees second in the AL in home runs out towards Right Center that's well struck full extension makes the catch great diving catch to end the inning after the pitcher battles through a tough one that'll up the dug time to go hit back here at the friendly confines are star in this one Marcus strowman Chris what should we keep an eye on here with him yeah as whip tells you he's been pretty effective this year on the I mean opposing HS having a hard time getting on base and then being able to really distract him and do damage in terms of getting around the base path so taking the mound this is a guy you want out there if you're his teammate and I expect him to be good in this one Trey Turner leading things off and takes a strike starts him with breaking ball but that's a pitch he's really comfortable hitting you can't rely on breaking stuff to be automatic out pitches against [Applause] him that's off in there for a strike that is Strike that's that slurp right there he threw it extremely well talk about just a ton of breaks so tough to get that Barrel to on the ground to Third throw PS him off the bag and he's sa well as an offense you want to get the crowd involved right away get that good energy working for you but this time the defense does it for him always a great opportunity when you can get your lead up guy on base to start the game and it doesn't matter how it happens and here is De fourth on the national league home run leaderboard Turner runs there's the ball the ballve second and that was not close runner in scoring position nobody out here in the third and final game of the series and that's right man it's second this one chopped on the ground but foul and the ball Le Count it's a good take two Turner stands it second with no outs and Des hits that one and there's a hit drying around third is Turner and he's safe at the pl as they take the lead one nothing so sound in his mechanics against a firm side and the hands just continue to carry through MD field here's Mike Trout two for in the series so far swinging a foul back that's out of play [Applause] the old one and that's downed away nobody out runner at first [Applause] slider misses outside the only adjustment he needs to make is his Target if you aim at the outside corner that slider's going to end up way off the plate perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it wouldn't chase that time righty delivers that's to third b h that was Smoke through the infield throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out well patience and discipline paid off right there as he got to an advantage count nothing cheap about the way he got that one through the infield that was ripped caught out in front and didn't get under it like he would have liked but definitely put a good swing on Nolan Jones getting ready to hit lot of clutch hitting from him recently more than an RBI per game over his last 10 and that one ripped to left and it stays fair and that rolls into the corner one run is in and he starts his afternoon off right with a double that's now three hits in a row for the offense I tell you and it's such a good when you smoke the line drive into the Gap like that I mean sure home runs are ping but I feel like nothing makes you feel like a true professional hitter more than a the other way boette gets a chance to hit definitely scuffling at the dish lately only two hits over the last five [Applause] games this one lift in the air left field Verdugo calls it in and there's one away batting six the third time now for the Chicago Cubs lineup it features a great veteran presence Mike Trout well he's just been a consistent and dominant power threat throughout his career I mean over 400 career home runs I mean that just doesn't happen to an average power hitter this guy's been Elite and we'll see as he continues if he's going to make it into Cooper Town into the Hall of Fame here's O'Neal Cruz that misses one and0 the pitch right through there for a strike one out and a runner at second and downstairs they've got him working a little harder in this first frame than he anticipated left hand batter Waits that's a strike it's two and two swings through that one it's a strike out well that's the effect of the splitter that you're looking for on the M really nice pitch right there had him out in front over the I'm sure the batter was thinking he was getting something else perhaps a fast little more straight and Below to it Danby Swanson stands in come backer to the mound gathers and throws the first and Swanson is set down that ends the inning and they limit the damage but three score in the inning two of them on this two-run double it's now three nothing we head to the second in MLB the show's game of the week second inning set to go now here's the Yankees cleanup hitter Juan sooo there's no way around it Soo is one of the most exciting players in baseball his hitting skills are so Advanced you'd think he played in Major League Baseball in a different life or something the right hander back to work swing and a miss a three- lead is great but you can't get too comfortable got to stay aggressive keep attacking hitters try to cruise through this ball game the wi to kick the pitch and it's fouled away the2 that's a bit tough to take a two strike change up that just missed I think it Frozen that's down and in he's really tightening up his Hitting Zone with two strikes here I love it got him swinging I think he might have gotten away with one right there that was a very pitch right over the of the pl and I know that batter is kicking himself right now would like to get that pitch again just pull the string on it and the deception gets him the k now here's John Carlos Stanton just off the outside edge and it's w and0 one down base is empty that's low that's a ball two count to a guy like this at the plate you've got to throw a pitcher's pitch don't just try to get a strike he could make you he and here it comes in today's game not that many fast ball counts but hitters still in the back of their minds they're looking for one two change up call right there excellent pitch selection to go with the Cubs leading by three here at the top of the second comes up empty that's strike two two and two the count and another ball count and that's ball four that's Ball Four take your base it's tough after falling behind a hitter two balls and no strikes but gets a fresh start against a new batter but he needs to get back into the strike zone and start pitching with conviction stepping in Austin Wells there's a strike Stan over at first with one away [Applause] and that one's a little bit low and it's one and one could miss with that change up away he needs a ball on the ground for a double play minimize the Potential Threat right here on the hitter side nice job of laying off that pitch the one- one is fouled off [Applause] and a pitch in the dirt two balls two strikes the Yankees trailing by three here in the third and final game of the series that one is absolutely belted and it hits the fence into second with a double and they something Gru [Applause] now everything came together perfectly for him right there just a solid swing right CAU it out ripped into the hit always feel great on the north side of Chicago John shabi and Chris Singleton and here is Anthony [Applause] gets under it and Pops it up Turner hauls it in and there's two away that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath a little bit and popped it up Anthony vul stepping in now for the Yankees and this is a big opportunity for him to pick up his teammate right here here that one back up the middle and it gets through one run across fires it to the plate sa and it's a one G picks himself up a couple ofes timing on the swing was good able to shoot the ball up the middle squared up as much as he probably would have liked but that's a good approach paying off now the third baseman Oswald [Applause] perza first offering and it just misses [Applause] two outs and another ball two balls no [Applause] strikes wouldn't chase that time well I would expect in this three count you're taking all the way see if it'll walk you glaver Torres to bat next top of the zone for a called [Applause] strike righty to the pl bounce to the left side and foul ball great RBI spot here just got to stay focused on the pitch the runner will be in motion so something in the Gap should definitely score 32 that's foul off to the right side keeps the AV going the pitch swing and a ground ball out to Short slings it across they don't come much closer than that bang bang play and the inning they put two on the board with a couple of hits no errors and one left now to the bottom of the second it's the Cubs three and the Yankees two and welcome back to the ballark here's the catcher Wilson this is a guy who is very highly regarded defensively fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate Good Game caller good at framing but it's that big arm that really stands [Applause] out strowman back to work when you got a catcher like this guy with a big arm like that behind the plate it really shuts down the running game the wi to the pitch just miss I'll say this as a former position player and base steer when you come into a game and you've got a guy like this behind the dish with a big arm you really have to change your approach can't try to steal cuz you'll get thrown out maybe get a little bigger lead be aggressive on the secondary but this type of guy shuts the running game down that's one out the bottom of the second batting the Lefton here's Byron buckon singy you got to appreciate a guy who's this good defensively I mean watching him track balls in the Outfield it is beautiful and I would say that most great defensive outfielders it's kind of natural there is some work that you can do to it to improve your game but ultimately you either have it or you don't the one and another ball there's one guy that I can think about Boo who started as a third baseman Alex Gordon and then became an elite perennial gold Glover out in left field for the Kansas City Royals but he's a guy when you watch him play you would imagine that that's all he ever played in his life was the Outfield the wi and the pitch strike two yeah some guys just have instincts right I mean that's the way it goes we talk about Larry Walker the Hall of Famer and his Instinct on the B despite the fact that he didn't play a ton of baseball as a kid spoils that one and it remains two and two remember Mark Kat was a real good defensive outfielder good instincts not great speed the wine of the pitch swing and a miss struck him out Turner down he's over one yeah and I figured you would get Kat into this because you had free dinner at his house the other night that is true first pitch doesn't find the zone [Applause] through there for a [Applause] strike hard grounder into the outfield for a knock and that keeps the inning going he was all over that just PL Pepper with the middle of the field and took it back where it came from and there's just no one there to knock it down and now they've got some speed on first so we'll see if they try to get him into motion the next to hit takes ball one well if he's going to steal second you want him to go early in the count that way he's not a distraction to the hitter at the plate go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch [Applause] Turner off of first with two away the one two down to the dirt swing and a miss that completes the strikeout inning over and now a man into scoring position no runs one hit no errors and a man left we play two full it's the Cubs three and the Yankees two top half of the third inning here's the second Bas Torres Tores the pitch and there's the strike Andy and that one fouled Off Pitch misses there and the count one and two good take by Torres the 22 appeal to First did not go [Applause] and he walked him that could be a tone Setter for the inning four straight pitches and lead off batters on base we'll see if the next guy wait until there's a strike before he takes the B off the here's the leel Alex Vero that one misses that's five straight the one can't find it here that six straight balls well he looks more focused at the plate and working the count after that that strike out two and0 to count here it comes on the ground to the left down the line and it's foul the St the two [Applause] two the Cubbies up by a run we're here in the top half of inning number three foul ball left side he another little T on that fast he's going to have to get it going a little quicker get that front foot down the two two on the way good job to fight that one off well he hasn't gotten the result yet but it's got to feel pretty confident three foul balls in a row he's right on this guy good battle here about to be the eighth pitch of the atat the other way makes the catch one down it's never going back to the Dugout after hit the line drive thats it GL but she will get some high five you know when you make great contact you feel like you've done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control now it's Aaron judge up to the pl and remember he was absolutely robbed of a base hit last time up and that one is inside ball we all know Yankee Stadium is a great place for judge to hit home runs in fact his coaches Joe can say he can sneeze one out to right well the scary part is it might be true man it first one away outside low and now two and0 well usually a high level of confidence when you're facing a young pitcher out there on the this situation aead 2's put himself in a really good spot next offering is in for a strike good pitch to hit on a te up in the zone think he was looking for something else right there two and one on Judge in there at the knees just a really nice slider down and in there he wants to get the hitter thinking fast speed him up and subtract some velocity and add a little move rander kick steals Str Him Out Swinging slider got him for strike three he's really good thease the other way so the for that pitch clearly he had here's woto 0 for one he struck out swing last [Applause] time that immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter [Applause] and that's outside and it's a ball a strike well he's really working him away this bat sometimes take a little bit off velocity try to get a roll over something on the ground stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield and now two balls in a strike [Music] swing and a base hit lead Runner touches second headed for third and that'll put Runners at the corners with two away showed some really nice patience in that at into a good count these days when you see a come off theat like that first thing you want to know as a spectator the exit velocity 109 in this case I mean that's just impressive and it's so cool we can get that sort of feed so instantly in today's game and here is John Carlos Stanton and that's outside [Applause] on the ground to third Cruz and that is the inning y strand a pair and it's still a 32 ball game ready to go for the last half of the inning now it's the power speed combo Mike troute if you don't get ahead in the count you can forget about having any success against as he turns on the rubber here with that good live arm delivers ball that's outside and the first pitch misses for ball one hard on the ground to First Rizzo takes it to the bag lead off man retired here in the third that's the right noan so now it's the Cubs hitter in the Four Hole Nolan Jones doubled his first time up and it goes just foul oh [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] one down base is empty fights it off he'll see [Applause] another and the pitch not close with that one now one and two the pitch and that almost hit him kicks and fires popped up vulpi moving under it he's got it two down now batt the designated hitter b b two outs B is empty B bashet up to the dish fly to left his first [Applause] time breaking ball in there for a strike two out space is empty go Chris through the early stages he hasn't been very efficient in terms of the pitch count he's going to need to get some quick outs if he's going to get deeper into this game L and that should be extra bases around first and hustling for second and he's in there standing up with a two out double it is though when you consider the way the game is run now doesn't even matter that much if your starter doesn't go that deep because teams are really aggressively building their Bull fense and it's scoring position with two away O'Neal Cruz the next come to hit went down on strikes his first time through that one missing inside one [Applause] and0 a swing and a miss and that's strike one one ball one strike at second with two down now big swing and a miss a lot of times you see aitch maybe dou up on a pitch this guy will throw three times four times in a row because hitters just can't lay off of it they on second two down just missing there and the count is even two and two really good take especially with two strikes at the belt and fires and another ball Dan B Swanson hting on Deck Circle runner at second two down here in the last half of the third fou off again and remains three and two he swings and hits a Fly ball center field judge is under it huls it in to end the inning Cubs leave one but they're up three to two and we're back and here's the catcher Austin Wells the right hter back to wor just missed you know these Yankees do a great job boo of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way seeing very Pati bats out of them they're doing a good job of working the pitch count and they've been able to push a couple of runs across the score as well the grab and's one down still relatively early but with the pair of runs already on the board the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game Anthony Rizzo steps to the play first time up was a pop out first pitch not close Rizo a multi- gold glove Award winner a member of the 1,00 hit Club and he's been on a good run at the plate hitting over 300 in his last 10 games in for a strike and one and one empty one away top half of inning number [Applause] four left field buckon moves under it he's got it and there's two away and up next for New York Anthony vulpi he drove in two with a single his first timeout that's inside that's the ball and that one fouled on here's a one1 and that skips in dir next pitch in for a strike and the counts even to [Applause] two just off the outside edge just missing off the plate there according to the Umpire and out there on the M maybe trying to get an explanation can't say he's convinced but it looks like he's accepted it and the righty deals good play appearance there able to take the walk one of the things about that two out walk the base run over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead so ball down the line or into the Gap will produce a two out RBI and those are the best that is if you are the offensive side of it foul ball [Applause] [Applause] there two out and that's in the well with the amount of pitches that can end up in the dirt a good secondary lead doesn't have to get away from the catcher but if you're anticipating based off the trajectory get yourself in scoring position foul ball still a one and two count and a swing and a miss and that's that one left for the Yankees they're down three to [Applause] two bottom of the fourth so up now for Chicago Dan B Swanson you talk about Elite defensive players especially in the middle of the diamond and this guy is at the top of the [Applause] list the pitch and you played behind guys and they love having your speed out there defensively one of the things that we talk about is how much pitchers enjoy having those Elite Defenders behind them and a pitch Bing ball here rolls foul the one thing about that ised never goes in a slump and defense shouldn't either hitting wise you can struggle you can lose your mechanics but the thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you're talented in that way and this is what this guy does perza fires over to first lead off hitter retired in the fourth the cat number Wilson and up to hit is Wilson contras grounded out his first time up out to short vulpi tosses to first two up two down the left 25 Byron buckon two outs B is empty Byron buckon digs in now his first at bat was a strike out great speed and great power a great athlete simply he's like Mike Trout you figure whatever you put in his hand whether it's a bat whether it's a golf club whether it's a basketball he can do it and get it done and a rare Talent so much fun to watch two down nobody on we're here at the bottom of the [Applause] four and that one wrapped foul [Applause] two down dolman swing and a miss struck him out and a nice inning of work there as he sets him down one two three nothing happening there for the Cubs and it remains a 3-2 ball game here at Wrigley Field now it's the second basav Torres the rightand are back to work crushed left center field this one's deep forg he'll touch them all his 18th home run of the season it's 33 he only needed one swing to square it up not wasting any time in that at bat F aggressive and it paid off love to see a agressive on the first pitch in a you watch him from the on Circle so when you step in the you're ready to pull the trigger wherever it's at really good job by the hitter total conviction on that swing now the left fielder Alex Verdugo oh he just got to delete it you give up that off home run go back to work focus on this next batter right through there for a [Applause] strike left hand hitter Waits that's off the mark one and one the real threats are coming up already giv up a home run in this inning he going to really have to bear down one run acrossing the frame so far and we're at the top of the fifth ripped on the ground to Second whips it to first one away here in the fifth here is Aaron judge Outfield playing very deep not wanting anything over their heads [Applause] ball in for a strike and it's own and [Applause] one and to judge all tied up here in the third and final game of the [Applause] series one and two here keeps the back going with a foul ball this is a good time to step out of the box take a deep breath reset couple of change UPS probably won't see another one here and another ball so critical to keep an eye on the pitch count this time of the year guys can start to run on fumes a little bit mechanics can drop off and we know they need him to be fresh and ready for big innings in October up the middle gets it to First J the play and next for New York Soo one for [Applause] two L and that's base hit Joey gets on base and keeps it going well that'll make you feel good as a hitter right there good pitch hard inside but he showed off some quick hands got the barrel to it and was able to yank it into the Outfield John Carlos Stanton at the [Applause] plate and a good eye there stto leads off first with two down to the inning CH and misses and the count and one instead of let the get his arms extended tied them up a little bit slightly up slightly in two outs good eye on that spot two one now for [Applause] strike count in the dirt and the runner holds payoff pitch miss him out third out that ends the frame so they pick up a run on two hits no errors in a man left home half of the fifth coming up all tied up at three a piece back here at Ricky field we head to the bottom of the fifth breaking pitches you get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you that he doesn't want to challenge you so I think the confidence level is raised right here that's and that's three he hasn't fallen behind in the count like this all day he's in danger of walking his first batter right here rips that one center field judge makes the grab one down up to the the first ra up to him single to score back in the first he's one for two on the ground right side he takes it on his own man for the fifth inning moving along two Quicks Mike stepping in the long ball threat Mike Trout this is a true five tool guy not very many of them out there but when he's on the field You Can't Take Your Eye Off first pitch misses fans come to the him play and in baseball to have such a talented player going out there every day and putting on the show that he does just a joy to watch and the next pitch is way outside hits for average power the ability to feel the arm and then the speed really impressive right side hard hit Torres over first and the Cubs go one two three Cubs are down quietly so no change in the score it's 33 back here at the friendly confines new inning getting started here's the Yankees catcher now Austin Wells and the pitch that one is upstairs you know these Yankees showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one the starter pitch count is high because they've worked the count full against him five different times their pitch selection's been off the chart good hitters count the [Music] 2- and that one hammered that's back there and that one gone into the bleachers and that should quiet this home crowd his second Homer this series and they grab the lead it's 43 maybe he's starting to break out of this mini slum that's the type of swing that makes you think good things are coming his way and a two count a hitter is on high alert this is what you live for to be in the driver seat here he got a pitch that he could handle and he hit that really nice home [Applause] run and here's the first baseman Anthony [Applause] Rizo popped up Des settles underneath it puts it away for the out the b number 11 Anthony V so digging in Anthony vuli there's a strike o and [Applause] one one out base is empty and a run in and we're the top half of the six deep drive down the line foul ball righty delivers slider misses outside one down base is empty two gone now well just couldn't pull the trigger on the fast right there and I don't think he was taking it thinking it might be a c ball or anything I just think he was flat out frozen did not expect that location in my opinion perazza into the box again takes the strike two down do on and that one a little below the knees and now it's even one and one and misses inside two one shoots a line drives single into Right [Applause] Center couldn't have timed it up any better than that anytime you rip a line drive the other way you feel really good what you did at the plate you trusted your hands you let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it that's great work right there here's glamber Torres ball one no strikes one perza the runner at first with two gone [Applause] back to right in position nabs it and that is that the Yanks do get one on the solo Homer it's now a 43 ball game it's Major League Baseball on the show well we go bottom six now the CBS Four Hole hitter Nolan Jones W to kick the pitch on the ground right side 50 extra Paces throws to Second and now the time run is into scoring position cut it out front and ripped it down the line and as soon as he saw it get through the inut man he started making that big turn toward second for the double now a pretty big ADV coming up with a chance to even this ball game off Runner and scoring position no outs bashet the next cup to hit hard liner into the corner but foul here comes a pitch and that one fouled off with the tying run at second here in the bottom of the six foul ball still ow two down looking now so up next O'Neal Cruz listen there's absolutely no reason to pitch to this guy right here you nibble you see if he'll expand his Zone but don't give him anything to hit if you walk not a big deal you have a double play opportunity set up popped up foul territory behind the plate drops into the glove two away well that was a pitch you got to crush unbelievable that he missed it right there and I'm telling you he is going to be frustrating with himself until his next ATT and now the short stop Dan B Swanson misses off the play and that is ball [Applause] one two outs and one in scoring position sharp ground there that's through for a base H coming home here's the throw he'll score time it's four to four huge game TI B right there came through in a big spot to drive in the r once you get the ball by the pitcher there's a lot of base hits the middle even on ground ball so a nice job to use that big hole and get himself a hit Wilson kras now up to the plate well Bo after watching the first inning of this one you would not have expected that this pitcher would be in such a Groove and still in the ball game at this point that misses off the outside edge and the one now One Missed smoked on the ground a second they take the force out that is the inning but they pick up one run on the RBI single all even now at four 95 of that one definitely not a pitch location You're Expecting up there as a hitter when you know the guy's got a good Sinker ball if you can get in that location boy you've got to look top to bottom thisd will be fired up they can get out of this and leave that goad run stranded in scoring position this is a big moment in this game and now John Carlos Stan sliced hard but [Applause] foul go ahead here to start the bottom of the seven Hamilton he's been a really tough guy to take deep this season you usually have to string some hits together in order to get to him here's the Le fieldron Buon who's over for two a pair strikeouts he's a big strong guy can untie this game with one swing [Applause] and a pitch and a foul ball right-handed relever that's in there and it's two he goes down looking well he's going to have some thinking to do when he leaves the ballpark after this one his third strike out and this one looking obviously so he's been a little overmatched he's got to find a the [Applause] eight hammer on the line base hit and that puts the tying run on base always feels amazing getting a job done when the team needs you to come through it's just bigger than your own individual stats just a really nice approach to shoot that line drive to the oppos field a lot of hard work and discipline that goes into getting a result like that at the plate doesn't come naturally for most hitters one down runner at first and up next for New York Anthony vulpi swing in a miss one one with a single base runner because of all the power they are dangerous to tie this thing up or they'll be pitching for a double play in this spot first pitch just miss he's getting a little frustrated out there on the getting hit around a little bit let's see if he can settle himself down and fouled off one out the possible tying and goahead runs on base one two now got him sling for the couldn't hit the fast at the knees here is glaver Torres he's already Homer here in this one and the first pitch misses for ball one well this is a critical for both the pitcher and the hit you can learn a lot about a guy by how he handles these pressure situations and that one fouled off and now the Lefty and there's the ball tough spot right here couple Runners on two count you can't nibble but you have to execute and finish your pitch if you leave something out over the plate it's going to bring in some [Applause] runs swing Miss and it's to well he knows they don't want to give him anything to hit but when You' got opportunities to drive in runs You' got to expand the Zone he's capable of going out there and doing damage with got him swaging he chased the change up inning over that's a crucial missed opportunity sometimes hears the emotion on the sleeve but that's okay as long as another run [Applause] pitch misses inside and it's w and well he's already in some trouble and falling behind in the count makes it even worse then you've got to throw the ball over more of the plate and that's where they can really do damage against a guy like [Applause] this can't find it here that's six straight balls Bash lead runner at second Cruz at first with no outs on the ground a short could be two over to Torres throw the first but he beat good Sinker low in the zone right there and produced exactly what he was looking for B on the ground nice ground out now the Cubs catcher Wilson contras three ground outs already for three foul ball there two on one out there's a strike big pitch right here he's going to try to make a pitch it's going to produce a strike out or a ground ball where the hitter is looking for something up in the zone that he can get his arms extended what you have to be careful of is that pitch that's up that's in on your hands that'll pop you up in the infield and that's exactly what the pitcher wants and that one ripped into right fire ball R is in around third he'll score two runs are in and they're up by three gets the job as he brings a really shot that down the right Feld line and Away to keep it from slicing foul one thing that was great about the approach his head was down all the way through the pitch and that's how you do it Ron Marino into the game and one thing on him he's been really good this season at keeping the ball in the park not an easy guy to take deep and up next for Chicago Byron buckon 0 for three with three strikeouts that one misses and that is ball one no strikes two and0 in the dirt but kept close to Third and got him well you want to see guys aggressive out there on the base pass but you also want to see them smart as well in making their decisions couldn't really tell how far away that ball was so that's the case you got to shut it down gets caught stealing there takes himself out of scoring [Applause] time but all he's doing now is passing the Baton and everything seems to get started around this guy two outs runner at first and now the first baseman Anthony [Applause] Rizzo fouled off he was late typically The Outfield defense will play a little bit deeper just to keep the ball in front make sure that runner on first doesn't come all the way around to score and tie this ball game up crowd locked in right now one run game here in the n next pitch misses and a count even one and one left hand hitter Waits and a swing Miss really goings to get ahead in the count and is the ball game even though these guys got the win and this guy got the save you can tell he's a little dejected not the performance that he wanted giving up a couple of runs but in the end got to be happy that you got
