close call in North Baton Rouge that's where a family escaped a terrifying ordeal after a large tree crashed into their home wow our deshun Johnson is live at that home and is speaking with the homeowner deshun tell us what happened hey you guys like you said I'm with I'm with Brandy Morris she's one of the family members who was in this home when this tree fell Brandy can you tell us exactly what happened and when it happened um I would say around uh about 70 30 7 40ish um I was asleep I got up and soon as I got up I heard a loud boom and uh the ceiling just came down lit that I know it was the tree that fell inside the inside the house and uh it just it just barely hit me God was with me and um as you can see the whole um the whole wall Cav in and like she said she was in this room when this happened along with her me as well this is just part of the damage that the tree had caused when it fell onto her home we're going to walk up the steps and show you just a little bit more damage what the tree had caused when she was in the home with her family it is a little dark so just be mindful there there's no power in this home so to the left of me you'll see a large crack that happened inside of the wall when we get closer to it this is just another part of the damage had happened when the tree basically cracked half the ceiling um their attic almost came down down lots of stuff was crashing down and then if you turn this way as well this is the tree that crashed into the home it looks burnt it looks like lightning struck this tree but this was a huge tree that came crashing down into the home destroying this whole kitchen and room area and then know Brandy as you said I know that this has been a long night you did say that the fire department came but they did tell you that they didn't have any shelters available you you're just glad that they were able to come help you guys right I was glad they they was able to uh come out and uh right now we I'm currently trying to get us into a safe Zone you know get the kids get the kids on out of here and so we get safe and and trying to you know see what's next for tomorrow clean up whatever whatever you know that we have to do and I know we told her earlier that there is a shelter available her available for her and her family in St Gabriel um the address is on South Barrow Drive if you anybody wants to help anybody wants to donate start to GoFundMe or anything to help Brandy and her family she says anything is needed of course she just wants to make sure that her family is safe and like you said you just glad that your family's alive glad that we all alive that was that's the I mean that's the uh I didn't I didn't seen a lot of hurricanes I didn't been through a lot but this one here it it was just different it just it just skipped me you know God was with me and like I said we're all glad that she's safe and everything we're going to hurry and get you out of here so you can get yourself and your family to that show to we told you about and of course like I said you can anybody who wants to help or just in the morning who wants to help as well the address is on South bar drive it's 4042 so if anyone wants to come tomorrow to help any clean up or anything like that with this family they said they're more than welcomed we'll send it back over to you guys
