this is literally home home this place is special the state is special the people in this room are special I got guys in my wedding right there and this is my dream job that's all I got Kenny Dillingham emotional in his introductory press conference at Arizona State and Boyer Sun Devil fans fired up about this tire they don't have to wait quite as long as everybody else to see him make his head coaching debut Thursday August 31st ASU hosts Southern Utah and then on week two Saturday September 9th it's Oklahoma State remember the Sun Devils lost to Oklahoma State 34-17 in Stillwater last season first four games for ASU are at home and five of the first six they've got a buy in week seven so Yogi there's no easing into anything when you talk about Pac-12 football but what do you make of the way that the AC Sun Devils schedule shakes out well it's run the clip right it's special this place can be special he's talked about the valley a lot right the community surrounding Arizona State where you get a chance to show out on a Thursday night and then the games that you see on your stream five are the first six what an opportunity that USC game SC will be coming off a buy we know what it's like when SC goes to ASU it's off the hook certain sections there as early as they can possibly be so at 501 when those gates open they'll be there for what we had assumed to be an evening game so I I love how it's set up I really do and I think offense early on when you become a new head coach that is what sells this offense is going to move the ball now we don't know who's gonna be the quarterback is it drew Pine the transfer from Notre Dame Trenton Board gay former walk-on who doesn't love his story Jacob Conover the transfer from BYU maybe one more tune into this the next Signing Day special Ash we'll see if we have one more to talk about but this offense gonna move the ball they've always had Playmakers they've added to their Playmakers and they can score early make it attractive and the valley you can really get behind them and they'd love their Sun Devil football so I'm excited for that and then as the season goes on my eyes go to of course the Oregon game because it's going to be exciting we'll talk about that all week long but Kenny daily is not going to play right against bone Knicks it's just the storyline but I look at the UCLA game that's going to be fun I think that's going to be a moment for the this team much like Arizona last year on the road against UCLA for ASU to go to the Rose Bowl the week after playing Utah the week before playing Oregon I think that's got a chance like it's going to be a rebuild this team has been down a little bit but as you said earlier it can happen fast so I'm looking forward to how this thing shakes out and early on Southern Utah they should get a win Oklahoma State a lot of their top players have left one of them went to USC he's going to start an inside linebacker Fresno State no longer Jay canner and then SC so there's a chance for them to get going again so momentum and if they do look out because that thing will become The Inferno they love it to be we've talked about ASU as a sleeping giant that's the term that always gets thrown around there's so much potential there you talk about the excitement in the valley for that program and what it could be so what's the most important thing for Kenny Dillingham year one as a head coach to youngest in power five yeah we've been around this enough to know that you can't put a number on it you just got to see incremental growth because again like I look at this list of these teams that we have Colorado Arizona State I feel like we don't know a ton about them because of the roster turnover so we got to find out what the makeup of this team is in Spring ball and then on May 1st through the 15th the portal opens up again how are they adding to that and that's just the nature of what college football is it's not just inherit the roster that we have in a way we to go that's what they did when Herm Edwards became the coach because the portal wasn't what it is today so I wouldn't put a limit on them and I wouldn't put a number on them I want to see that thing grow and I want to see who's going to be the quarterback I want to see who's going to run this office because we know his offense will move the rock we know the staff is loaded Beau Baldwin as the offensive coordinator Charlie Rago comes on back I mean it's going to be a fun thing to track because there's so much pride within the walls of that facility for the community
