zero one let's get start hell and welcome to Beyond top 10 tennis my name is Dr Ashley mcken BGE and I'm your host welcome to episode4 of Beyond top 10 tenners um I can't believe how far we've come and how quickly we've been growing uh in the best possible way uh recall that I think it was around the Wimbledon championships we kicked off around I think 100 which was really cool to um I think align those episodes and also um since the French shoping we've been doing um the jewel if you like um video and audio um releases as always though um if you are new um I really would encourage you to track back to some of our earlier episodes um that really dived into let's say the secrets to Optimal uh performance success and the secret ofal coaching success so they are some of my newer releases but they also um really uh dig deep into the uh scientific side and um extrapolate the data in a more simplified context to really explain and form uh that Baseline that we really do talk about um almost every episode so they really do lay a foundation and where we've essentially been going this season by diving into the latest rankings and results on uh the W ATP tours respectively but from uh my latest release how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking and the seven keys but remember there are 12 there well 11 specifically that are well non-fiction if you like so it's an immense body of work and I really do do my best to simplify that but I'm sure each and every one of you can understand sometimes there are little pieces of data that um can't be or they're very um challenging too but uh nevertheless I really do try to um simplify um through not just releases or the blogs articles on am International but through those early episodes essentially is probably even through to 50 to 70 plus um so I really would encourage you to um tune into them as well um um look if you've been with us for some time now thank you so much you know what we are all about and I really do appreciate um you being along oh coming along for the ride um wouldn't be here without you so thank you look today's episodes um probably going to be a little bit shorter last week was a huge episode I think was our longest um we had done to date um this week we only have a number of events because US Open is going to kick off in less than a week um and which is very exciting but we essentially have um only one primary event so Cincinnati that has essentially um been underway over the past week we do have some smaller events and we do have another smaller events or respectively on WT ATP tours tour so we will have a look at that and how key players have been progressing and the rankings but also I think um look at maybe the key contenders leading up to the US Open I think um some are probably um quite uh straightforward but others not so much but before we dive into that I I've got um something really quick I I think to mention um at the beginning of today's episode which is the uh news that has has come off from the ATP Tour um this week or roughly um as we are going live and that is unfortunately I'll say around yanic CER um failing two tests and there are I obviously um understand conflicting views around that and I thought I would share that it looks as though cuz I really want to draw um let's say um comparisons unfortunately with obviously um Simona Hal's case that if you're not aware head on over to am naal there's an oped there as well um but what where I'm going with this is that it seems as though um Cate did not ingest um the substance and why he obviously failed those drug tests back to back um in March this year um and it looked like it was something that he um inhaled um from someone else who was spraying um uh a substance um that was to do with uh helping an injury so it could have been um a um a spraying the swort to lessen an injury to heal or to help that obviously that um healing process there are many sprays obviously on the market in in that way shape or form that um you or I may have used previously um or currently and it looked like it was something that um was unknown but it wasn't something essentially found um in high levels in anybody shape or form in his test results so what I'm looking at that or what I'm sharing about that the difference unfortunately was for Hal even though it was something she did inest um unknowingly it increased um the levels in her blood counts to a very uh significant number unfortunately even even though um it was ruled down to a 9mon suspension over or from 18 months through to even it was 18 months off um but but initially the four years it's a little bit contradictory that c was not forced to have time off between say March to now there wasn't an investigation that was underway but potentially it really shows the disparity between the atp2 and the WTA T ATP T had their own in investigation had their players back WTA T really didn't I think stand by or give H the benefit of the doubt and allow her to keep playing from the best of my knowledge and she really did go through a very I think arduous process and she was proven um innocent and the WTA didn't have her back from that perspective I think that's where I'm coming from um and that's really I think dis heartening for a player of her caliber who had been around for a number of years one grand slams and we're really looking at cner then unfortunately number one in the world had recently won a grand slam two months later um obviously the substances of found which he's been able to play all season long um and I think that's a bit disappointing that it wasn't transparent there um but I really hope there's um a discussion hopefully really healthy good discussion around obviously the WTA tour and that and essentially the governing body there of women's tennis how they protect their athletes to make sure uh due and fair processes are undertaken even their own let's say independent investigation to support athletes which really looks like that's been the case for sinner so even though obviously they're two very different I think um um of circumstances it's very apparent that one tour the ATP Tour had their players back did I think the investigation didn't publicize it until now whereas the wda tour really let um Hal's case um out into the open didn't protect the player um and I think their best interest which uh I think being really transparent and uh endeavoring to be very objective here is disappointing from that perspective um that said I think look us opens only a week away soon as he's still able to play he did have to Forfeit the prize money obviously through March again a bit I think um upsetting potentially for some players that he was able to play um we don't really know the full story um at this stage and in that given context but I think it goes without saying there's a huge huge disparity there between I think both tours and obviously looking after their respective players okay that's enough there all right let's dive into WT tour first before we head on to the ATP Tour we're going to look at the results first before the rankings because we do have some key movers but it really will um share essentially the seeds for the US Open because a lot of players inside I think the top 20 um all top 32 aren't playing this week we do have a handful that are that may have lost earlier in Cincinnati but it's worthwhile to a pinpoint all right let's start with the bran Quilla open we did look at the earlier rounds but I just wanted to have a look at let's say the semifinal through to the final stage it is a smaller event but it really will I think showcase key players that may make some let's say surprise um inroads um at the US Open when we're looking at maybe third round or further third round let's say round of 16 potentials um where we do see them tracking in these smaller events and it actually happened at the US Open and it has historically happen as well so look BR quill open in Colombia we've got Maria the number one seed against rsik unfortunately um rosik did retire so Maria did get a walk over there and then the other half was poosa the four seat and sabla that went to four sets to poosa noteworthy poosa has has been tracking at a different level than say um The Players ranked inside the top 30 but when you're looking at the final Maria first seed against fourth seed porosa porosa with the win uh 621 1663 so what I wanted to share here essentially is that we know poosa has been climbing in the rankings but noteworthy is that these players are predominantly ranked inside the top 100 so they are still exceptional players in their own rights but these are smaller events where the uh players around this ranking range are looking to notch up additional points and they may not get direct entry say into the 500,000 events so very good for poosa um and it looks like with her ranking that is going to shift higher um we will be hearing more of her and that that level of tracking will begin to be more streamlined with players say inside the top 50 this was going to be very noteworthy to keep an eye on okay um just the smaller one wrapped up there let's have a look at Cincinnati if you have been obviously following along you know the results so bear with me round of 32 we're up to we did look at um the first round results last week so if you're curious there head back to last week's episode right round 32 um s attack achiever this was close um I tell you what um I was following this second set was AB absolutely nerve-wracking um s Tech I don't believe she had uh set points uh it kept going to graa um by um two points almost essentially with those set points potentially SW Tech um did have that one or two match points but graa play that probably the best set of tennis in her life in that second set 108 that tiebreaker was it was so close but look well wasn't to swe Tech holding it together when she was this close from closing out the match and having to play another set um that was really huge and from I think a mental standpoint incredibly draining so um graa couldn't keep up with sweet Tech as obviously was potentially anticipated in that third set 62 6 love 67 at 62 uh that said though really good effort I think from um sweet Tech really important here this is Su Tech's first tournament back on Hardcore I can't I think um emphasize that enough remember swch had a huge clay Court Season went to Wimbledon didn't really perform that well didn't have adequate time off and you need to remember SW Tech's uh clay Court season was jam-packed um and in contrast sapil Lanka almost had one just as jam-packed but did not have let's say the number of matches uh s Tech had and then savan had more time off savan did not play Wimbledon more time off as well swed Tech played Wimbledon didn't really perform well then went back to the clay to play the Olympics saena did not play the Olympics had more time off rehabbed her shoulder and then has played I've got it right here um Washington Toronto followed by Cincinnati so by this third hardcore tournament Back sanka's Got Her Groove swear te though this is her first hardcore tournament back really really important to keep this in mind as we progress okay all round of 32 um then we've got um sun and kostuk look kostuk with the win here 6375 but well done to Sun um obviously we know um her from her standout performance at the wimbl and championships but really good I think um win for her there remember son had that upset in the first round over Noca so very very impressive there um almost a tow the line with kostuk but Kruk again um too good all right Andria plisa very good with Andria 2 and3 Pini poova Pini 76 and number 7263 a sabalan cetto 3 and four Selina baz miniero 4 and one Lynette samsonova samsonova with with that win a 7661 that first set tie Break um par swex tie break 1210 that's huge uh keeping in mind Lynette has been tracking as well this season Sams over though obviously favored with that ranking 10 seed ran away with it in that second set really shows I think that the mental uh fortitude for players um inside let's say especially the top 20 even when they pushed um that next level they're able to bring in that second or third set in contrast to players who are not quite there and that's really where let's say the seven keys and the E key comes into play okay Evian um upset Austin Peno um in that second round that's actually a huge upset three sets though 2662 62 what's a little bit ironic here is that even though um Austin Peno um has lost um in the second round she has progressed in the rankings uh which is very ironic all right we will get to that later on all right Pula and makova this is a really tough second round for paga she's coming off a really good win though has been playing some really good tennis uh the type of tennis we haven't seen since last season makova though she's had a huge I think stint off a good I think it's four five to six months roughly maybe a little bit more um obviously had that wrist surgery um but she has been having some good results then some maybe not so much and some good so this was tough and look paga with that win 5764 62 I would say a great match for paga but also a really good performance for makova a town send upset kazakina that is absolutely huge and has pushed Town s's ranking for the very first time into the top 50 huge result uh 6126 61 uh crew gash sh with the win there 756 love Fernandez Reina huge look Fernandez coming off a really good I think um fortnite is and look for this type of win um riina we know riina she's had that form look she made the semi-finals of Wimbledon that's further than say well saing play further than sweetch as well and a GF so rivina was the only um let's say of the top four there U but she really hasn't been able to uh continue that level of play since then uh Fernandez at 3676 uh that was 7364 so granted that second set was really really huge but look it was a very close match all the same all right um Zen and fretch U again Zen's first uh tournament back similar to SW Tech uh since obviously the Olympics and her gold medal um good performance here 6175 uh wasn't Yaki pav chova pav chova with that win 7564 interestingly wasaki did get a win first round which has been attributed to her um recent ranking progression as well um pava Chan first round did upset the 17th seat had dad May year that is noteworthy all right Ken ska Bosa Ken ska definitely favored here although she hasn't been tracking as much say as she was uh the first half of the Year those results haven't been as consistent um with uh essentially why she's cracked into the top 20 and being around let's say between 17 to 15 in the world uh she's 13 SE here I believe she's currently 15 in the world but look Bosa with a huge win 6362 coming off obviously that huge win the week before Pensa this is very significant upset look 64 2664 against GF G is the defending US Open champion now I think there's been some noise around G just you know her performance slipping but I'm going to probably um defer there she's still been showing up um throughout the grand slams um consistently sure she hasn't obviously won a grand slam this season but she's still been consistently making say quarter semifinals of essentially all of the bigger events granted this was one of the first that she didn't really progress through um probably not favored to defend her US Open title but I think that's a lot to take on we have to remember GF is still only 19 years of age she was up until this week number two in the world huge accomplishments um so even though um we're seeing this a thir three Setter um loss there um it'll be very interesting to see how GF tracks I'm not going to be surprised if G GF makes the quarterfinal semifinals I might be a little bit surprised at this stage if she does make the finals um but I'm definitely not going to write golf off in any way shape or form okay uh round of 16 um this was really interesting here we had a number of upsets but look um s Tech cost strook a very different um in contrast to let's say that second round result two and two really impressive there essentially because um cook is has been playing some really good tennis so well done to S again only second match on hardcourt back um Andrea had a very big upset over Pini but look it's three sets 366362 you need to remember Pini has had a huge season probably the biggest season of her life she is the most successful and consistent player um on the wut tour over the past I will say three months she made the finals of the French and she made the finals of Wimbleton not even sabalan or SW Tech or G um was able to do that or riino or paga any other player ranked inside the top 10 it is very very significant and uh she still continues to track um granted I think this is um Pen's maybe second third EV event back I'm not too sure P did play play Washington so look this is an okay result here um keep in mind Pini made the round of 16 or further um at the Australian Open I know it was at least round 16 or further without having it in front of me but that's really uh substantial and I think where I'm going there is that when you make the round of 16 you know you are tracking um and I want to see if I can quickly have a look but when we're looking at these metrics it is absolutely substantial because Pini not only has she been tracking ahead of um other players it's just in incredibly I think impressive from that perspective all right bear with me and I'm going to find this because yes it was um round of 16 and she did fall to Ken scale really really interesting and we know how Pini has progressed since then um I just want to um make sure I could clarify that for you all right Andria has um picked up her form so remember didn't perform let's say two expectations at Wimbledon still had I would say a relatively okay results huge performance at the French Open sky rocket her rankings and she's tracking again we need or I would prefer Andrea to um Halt and to let's say make those round of 16 quarters before she starts making consistent semi finals maybe finals another two seasons that's not saying she's not capable of that in any W shape or form I really think probably Onre at this stage um is set for another maybe uh semifinal birth that said I'm going to uh gauge at the hard court for her at this stage isn't her preferred surface in contrastly to the clay we're yet to see um clear tracking uh through there but Andria is definitely I think set to come a barrier breaker inside the next season which is very very dangerous all right saan Spina this is a very good win for saena Spina look 75 62 to sa Lanka Spina has been playing some I'll say some good tennis not the best as this not the best as this time last season but still despite the rankings fidelina is definitely top 20 uh Sams overc samsa has been tracking this season 466 love 63 that's actually a very good performance from Evan there to push Samson over to those three sets all right um we have quarterfinal stage and this was really interesting here look SW Tech Andria 46 6375 I think that just underscores what I just said about Andria hardc Services tracking on on the ropes to become a barrier breaker she just took the number one in the world to three sets granted nonetheless this is sweet Tech's third match then back on hard and contrasted to say onrea so a really good I think performance from for onrea but way to go I think for swed Tech to push through that definitely I would argue not uh swed Tech's best level we are not seeing that at this stage all right Sam sabalenka and Sova 63622 sabalenka that's actually a very good performance from sabalenka there Pula fernandz well done to paga 76 6776 but look at that score line uh that second set tie break went to Fernandez 71 the third set tie break went to boua 73 look how close that is Fernandez is playing really good tennis and let's remember I believe it was only uh three seasons ago now I want to say it was uh 21 where it was rakano Fernandez two teens showing off in the US Open final and look it's really important I think to remember that Fernandez was there um and I think she does not get enough uh credit uh for that and how she has been tracking um so yeah really really important I think to note that Fernandez can be very very dangerous um on uh the hardcourt surface so yes it was uh 21 I just want to again clarify that all right um other quarterfinal Bosa pava chova great to see pava chova in the quarters um of I think a really big event here but Bosa this was very huge backing up those results essentially from the week before uh 6362 uh to Bosa that's very very impressive all right H semi-finals swch sabalan hopefully you were on the edge of your seat as I was again this is why I think I underscored um the importance of um the leadup events whereas this is uh Su Tech's first uh tournament back first hardcore tournament um and in contrast sabalenka played again Washington and Toronto right here but then also so it's saa's third event back 63 63 to sabalenka I believe this is Saban's first win or first straight sets went against s which is huge um but I what I really want underscore here is that Sapa Lena was the finalist in the US Open last year against GF um she did win the Australian Open sapal Lanka is absolutely one of the favorites leading into uh the US Open that said again this is swch only her first event back she has been she's essentially with other metrics ahead of Pini on paper so sweet te is actually favored as well you need to put Su Tech sablan almost head-to-head but I'm going to actually nudge SAA ahead of that purely because Saban's success on Hardcore surfaces uh this season and as the defending finalist from last year um it's going to be very very interesting definitely rooting for stic to progress let's say to the semi finals um and because of how the seatings are going to play out s and SA ler are not likely to meet each other until the final and I tell you what I will be absolutely thrilled if we get the number one number two seed in the finals of the US Open and both of them are really I think um at that level and then look the next result here is Pula Bosa and look Pula with the win 623 663 but for pedosa to take Pula to three sets who won the event last last week is very very significant which and I'm very surprised that I am saying this cuz pagola has not been showing up all season she is not her performance is not aligned with the top 10 ranking but all of a sudden the past I will say 3 weeks it really is which places Pula in the running I would say to a quarterfinal potentially semifinal spot at the US Open very very significant probably for that other fourth spot I'm going to put Pini there cuz she's been playing incredibly well and look I know I'm not putting golf there she could very easily well be there but keep in mind those four are really just going off let's say uh the performance is so far this season look Zen made the quarterfinals of the US Open last year she hasn't been tracking yes she won Gold but I'm yet to see the consistency there that I I really want to um well see that is attributed to that pig performance Pig performance and we know what can be delivered all right the final of Cincinnati if you haven't figured out by now sabalenka had a huge win there and why again I am put putting her um as one of the top favorites 63 75 over paga but for paga to make the finals that is very very significant that all of a sudden she's very lucky I think um she's been able to hold on to those ranking points from last season to keep her inside the top 10 and then come hardcourt season to really show up and I think because of that um it's really playing into pula's hand uh come obviously the US Open all right um a couple that wraps up uh Cincinnati there and a huge shout out then to saan that was very very significant all right smaller event that is underway uh this week is Cleveland um in Ohio uh Hadad May is the fth seed so I just want to run down really quickly um a couple of those matches adad over G and straight sets bus over tan straight sets Boral over khala straight test Kennan is the eighth seed here keeping in mind she's roughly ranked around I think 54 in the world three sets win over volette CIA is a third seed thre set win over Isel um BZ maniero three set win over graa so remember graa took s Tech to at the three sets in Cincinnati right sorz Tomo straight sets over Wang stunes is the six seed three sets win over Usama look six love 1661 tomova is the seventh seed straight sets over Davis Russ straight sets over bronzetti um Kesler over Scott in three Wang is the fourth seed straight sets over blinkova a Potter POA is the fifth seed here three and to over Parry Schmid over now remember Schmid over um she missed out on the bronze um so essentially it was fourth and people will forget that but she had a stellar absolutely Stellar Olympics uh but she's gone down first round to torsson in three uh minut and over Christian straight set and Fernandez is the second uh second seed here but um she has fallen in three to Bolton uh 1676 726 uh2 I'm going to attribute that to even though it was um uh in three sets Fernandez has been playing a lot of tennis and I believe even in Cincinnati she uh did win the doubles um so very very impressive week there okay um and again this is a smaller rent but it is a leadup uh to uh the US Open so that will wrap up um essentially at the end of the week before the US Open kicks off so Cleveland on Ohio we will um finalize or get back to those results before the US Open kicks off there's one other smaller event that is underway and that is in Monteray Mexico uh is again a smaller event but actually no this one is the bigger event my apologies but Collins is the number one seed um she is has been bummed outside the top 10 but it goes to show that essentially no top 10 player is in action um leading up to the US Open all right so we do have most of the first round matches that have uh been done it is a smaller event because it does it's a 32 so um first round immediately goes to round of 16 Collins with a bu she will play Erica on Dria in the second round with a win over um Eric andri with win over Kina one and four in the first round um Sun Lulu Sun straight sets win over p h Carl three sets over Cova the eighth seat Alexandro is the third thir seat Rodriguez has fallen through zarua in straight sets Marik with a good three set win over Z kronic and Yuan the seventh seed that match is underway as we speak um nost with a good win over danela 0 and one Wang and Maria will play um in the first round that's still yet to get underway um Evan with a good win over CTO straight sets there Selina is playing you definitely really need a favor Selina here to progress to the finals but that'll be really interesting she will play aesan in the second round fretch is the ninth seed she's going to play poosa first round poosa though is coming off that title win and you got have to give probably kosa a bit of an edge there despite I think the ranking um Rangers um glushko over vosco three sets and Tom lovic has fallen in the first round over Osorio naara is the second seed she will play Osorio in the second round don't worthy um Navaro is on track to become a barrier breaker and you really need to uh favor I think Navaro to make the quarterfinals potentially of the US Open uh I think she's going to go into the US Open very underrated but really needs to be kept in eye on okay um over to the rankings now um to really I think dive into that uh we will start um at the 100 and welcome back to the top 100 n Mina um starting at 100 uh parz Dez um has 19 Point progression to 99 she's previously been ranked inside the top 100 but welcome back we've got a lot of movers I think inside let's say that Top 9 to 100 range but I really want to focus on I think the really significant uh progressions to regressions Maria's got a 15o regressions she's at 87 now um shid overa who we've just touched on uh not the bronze MST did play the bronze medal match against sutic at the Olympics she's had a ninepoint regression to 84 now in the world uh which is a little bit I think disappointing I'm hoping that she does progress in the rankings CU she had a huge I think Olympics um that unfortunately did not come with points um yfan wangs had a 16p point regression to 78 now in the world um noteworthy we've got wasaki a 14-point progression all from that second round perform for um at Cincinnati um she's now at 70 in the world very very significant similar to Bosa they were both around 140 115 in the world they were tracking um at relatively the same time around let's say that 110 ranking range as well but do obviously has skyrocketed inside the top 30 W and Yaki though all the same is at 70 and also really important and I almost have missed is that aaka she's had a fiveo progression to 85 now in the world but Asaka BOS and wasaki were all around that ranking range um really important there and they have all been tracking rakan was um a little bit outside that ranking range but she's also been tracking but she's steady there at 71 really impressive and not worthy all right a 21 Point progression for poosa after her title wi last week she's at 67 now in the world okay other um I think big bumps here we've got makova with a 17 point regression she's now at 51 in the world remember pra Wimbledon she still was top 10 after wiblin she really has I think um regressed unfortunately Kenan is um steady there relatively at 55 in the world Andis some over she's at 49 um the WTA for some reason just this week has said that the US Open has given her a wild card but with this ranking there is no wild card there's a bit of an error there so over it's great to have her back inside the top 50 um Town send welcome to the top 50 um a fivepoint progression 46 in the world very very significant there okay other noteworthy I think significant jumps as we're tracking inside the top 30 or just outside the top 30 is just STA and Bolter 33 and 32 respectively and noova is at 35 with a four-point regression all three of those players should probably be inside the top 30 or were um a matter of weeks ago okay spine is at 1 at 28 really should be top 20 but DOA a 9po progression 27 in the world very very very significant let's see how long B DOA can keep this new peak level of play up and if she really can deliver that and bring that at the US Open she's only been back at her Peak Performance for a short time um and it has been absolutely Stellar with what she's been able to deliver really showcasing why she was able to I will say uh make her way inside the top 10 yes she did make it to number two in the world but her performances at that time especially looking at Grand Slam metrics did not correlate with that ranking that may upset some people but there was Zero correlation there it was it was a it was very inaccurate I feel like a better wording um but how Bosa has been playing now at this point point in time if she was to make the round of 16 at the US Open and that would push her inside the top 20 it would correlate and The Following Season she would break into the top 10 it would correlate really really important and a very big um differentiator there all right pav chov is relatively steady a two point progression she's at 26 vage has been bump back ja the two is at 25 Fernandez is up to 24 um on miror Andria is up three points new ranking High to 21 in the world you need to really say that uh if Andrea has I will just say a mediocre US Open she's going to make the top 20 very very significant there for I think the 17y old absolutely huge as the rankers back one to 20 kuks up 2 to 19 Shen has broken into the top 20 I think officially not just 20 she's now 18 in the world very very significant and look for those of you out there unsure of how am I going to bump um up to the top 20 in this in one season Shen is the perfect example um she started I think year around uh 70 80 in the world look top 20 here we come and look it happened to swch in I think her first Peak year it's happened to P even though she wasn't that low in the rankings she's having a Stell year same with Callen SK we've had a number of breakthrough players um on the WT tour this year which is quite an anomaly but really really I think significant nonetheless all right Keys Navaro kazakina um they're steady at 14 13 12 respectively cols is back one to 11 top 10 here we come Austin PCO she's already been a barrier breaker this season uh then we've got Sakara just back the one kov is up the one um to 10 n and8 and top seven are relatively the same with zing paga palini riina followed by we've got um G and sabinka just switching places there with sweetch obviously at one uh not worthy that it looks like a swed tech she's tied with B now for 170 weeks at I think um one or no with henon and she's only got a few more weeks before I think she ties with b um and it looks like where I'm going is that irrespective I think around or points wise s t should be able to I think uh with around a 16 performance at the US Open surpass that um it'll be very very interesting to see especially also how Sabal Lanka tracks at the US Open and if I think s Tech breaks um not only the let's say the top 10 best uh tennis players of all time to hold on to that number one ranking but she could very well make the top six and we will find that out I think by Year's End very very excited okay let let's head on over uh to the ATP Tour we've only really got um this week and Cincinnati to look at so let's have a look at Cincinnati first round of 32 we are up uh to and this was C's I believe first uh primary EV back or maybe it was his his second please correct me there um but I'm pretty sure um yes C potentially he did play last week um but we're trying to get some traction here uh but look uh Goodwin over mitchelson in the round of 32 that which then jumps to the round of 16 so over mitchellson qualifier 6475 Thompson really good performance over Bez 2 and four Nakashima over Phils 7563 and that was seven three that's a very good win for Nakashima Phils has been tracking rublev over Zang 4 and three I'll say expected there zarev over kakenov 3 and two zarev is definitely going to be a dark horse is definitely underrated CA Al jovic gets predominantly all the attention zarev and I think meev are flying under the radar when it comes to the US Open and Ruble may very well have a breakthrough potentially semifinal there if he continues to track all right our P sale um has fallen to karino Buster three and three um Shelton Over Chevy 67 7663 look first set tie break 86 uh to a Chevy second set set tie break 97 to Shelton that's very huge well done to a Chev to push Shelton all that way morzan has upset up dimitro in the round of 32 in 3 4664 63 herx Goodwin over nioka 3676 7461 uh Cabo over derei 76 31 obviously retirement there mazetti has fallen to TFO very um I think interesting and noteworthy mati's had a huge season from the French to The Wimbledon to the Olympics remember he is the Brun medalist there very very significant um Tio though has not been tracking this season he's been hovering around well he was outside the top 30 then slightly inside the top 30 then outside the top 30 and he's had a very very good week I won't spoil it just yet um so look hardcut surface has arrived we know TFO typically paks at the US Open not at the Australian Open but the US Open for some reason and look three and two the Checker over meev that is actually a very big upset uh 76 7264 especially again with the US Open around the corner Mev is last year's finalist um obviously was jovic and meev um really important there meev has won the US Open previously and been a finalist on more than one occasion there so I think when we're looking at other players in that lineup this is very very important all right aore Aliss upset R um 3 and one uh Felix has had a very good season as well uh I will say u r on the heart it's really not his favorite surface um so I'm not going to place Rod I think in the mix maybe second round third round probably not round of 16 as muches obviously his ranking should Place him there um Draper and tipas Draper with a very good win 36 6475 over tisas again probably not going to position tisp pass inside say the quarters he could make the round of 16 we have seen TSA plus pay play very good on the hard courts previously um but going off his most recent level of play again probably ahead of rud but not too far there off run over Bor guz at 3 and 76 and that was 108 Rune is starting to track uh really important that he has switched his coaches just with the one coach Now does not have let's say Serena's former coach um in that lineup uh and I think it's starting to um show in his tennis almost overnight um and we are starting to see Rune um really I think with some core metrics and even though he's seated here 15 he we we know he's top 10 and he has that regression and yes our Predictive Analytics have highlighted that and we've said over and over again why that regression has happened but I'm not going to be surprised if r finishes the year inside the top 10 if very big if he has a very solid US Open run and thereafter otherwise he'll start fresh next season uh mon over elar this was a very big upset 4676 uh 7564 well one look how close that score line is and two mon you can never ride him off um and again ALR has a has had a very big season so I don't think he should be that hard on himself from this perspective I believe El CRA did make the semifinals of the US Open last year he did obviously when I believe it was the US Open the previous year so you cannot write I think El C off however given the um winner of uh Cincinnati you need to obviously um favor elre after that I don't want to spoil it okay um let's head on over now to uh the round of 16 and and we don't have too many surprises here uh C had the walkover over Thompson I think that really served him well unfortunately hopefully we see Thompson back at the US Open and ruv over Nakashima 7661 zarev over Kino Buster 7576 that was 86 Shelton Over marazan 4 and three herx over Cabo in three uh 63 3661 Tio over Lea 64 67 and that was 12 10 huge and then 76 uh 75 that is a very very big tibre all back to back um drap over aore eliss 5764 64 I'll say that was the primary upset uh Rune over mon fees 3664 64 so relatively on the men's side we're seeing a straightforward we did see most of that on let's say some of the women but most of the men here are I think following through as far as seatings are concerned but let's have a look at this uh quarterfinal Cent over rubl 4675 64 very good performance for Center um zarev over Shelton 3676 7375 huge win for zarev but well way to go for Shelton I believe Shelton did make the semi-finals of the US Open last year probably this year we're looking at the quarterfinals around the 16 quarters but zere with that score line you really need to favor him to make the quarters semis potentially another final and you need to remember zev's been tracking this season and he is probably ahead well no on paper he's ahead of jovic he really is it really comes down to um elrees C and zarev and on paper obviously elrees has two slams to his name sin one slam to his name and zarev has been showing up um without a doubt jock V unfortunately guess he has been showing up um but zarev really edges them out um ever so slightly there um TFO very good win over herx 63 and then um herx walkover hopefully herx is fit for the US Open but very good um I think first set um irrespective for uh tone run over Draper there 4 and two good win there for run all right semifinals I think as potentially anticipated we've had C over zarev 7657 uh 76 but check out the score line that first set tie break was 119 um that third set tie break then was 74 that is huge it was there's this much in it between uh C and zere and look if you are listening to only the audio only I'm trying to show um absolutely almost no space between obviously four finger and thumb um very very significant and it proves that I'm not going to be surprised if C and make the final of the US Open and um Zer gets the win that said it's going to be very interesting to see how the seeds fall out it looks like potentially um we could gauge that sin Zev in one semi-final ELR and joov another semi final and as far as all four of them have been tracking they most likely would progress that far although uh jovic probably not purely of how he has been tracking that said he won Olympic gold and I think it would be absurd to write him off um like the Olympics so you can never absolutely never at Grand Slam level right Jo V all I can share and be transparent with is the data and how he has been tracking this season yes he's won a gold medal but he has not won a title this season uh TFO overr yes this was an upset but when we're looking at how TFO can play on Hardcore how has been regressing yes he started to have some traction and progress but look T 4661 76 that's huge and obviously um 74 in that tie break C Tio um in the final 76 7462 to cner very very significant and will favor a cner leading into the US Open all right um last event um there's only one event underway um on the uh atp2 this week and that is Winston Salem um in North Carolina Bez is the number one seed and as I track down the second seed in play here um well there is it's not sh we're seeing the 17th seed which is a very very unusual we've obviously had a withdrawal there all right so we do have a couple of matches um that have been underway cuz it did start earlier this week so all right cor over Nagal 4 and two Kaz Zs over vanan sh 1 and 76 um hij ja is the 17th seed with a buy renck 12th seed with a buy um oon over um kers qualify five and four Goffin over Muna in three dere um by first round suro uh Wild Card third seed by the first round Shava lucky loose over Jerry straight sets uh M over lean in straight it's C to 15 seed byro 10 seed by strickler over Korea in straight sets Shang over kasana straight sets Noone with a buy and vest with a buy say both wild over Duckworth in three um Tian is a qualifier over schlake another qualifier so that was in three marizan and sheno both them have buys um Karina buer straight sets over Kuma vage three three sets over Evans manarino and Chevy both them got Buys in the first round birds of pela in three is over Daniel in three miton and Gaston with buys first round Eubanks over Walton in three and M over Miga in straight sets and again sulon has been given 17th Seed where the second seed should be that was a lot okay a second round uh round of 32 so we do have a couple of those matches that have been underway um corck has upset the number one seed Bays three and four um rinky um hij has upset kazook in 3 4663 7674 um rck over okono three and four Goen over derei 2 and four um SAA over sondo the third seed four and four kotov over Muller in three um Sono over strier straight set Shang over naone straight set borz has been upset both both wild 7662 Tien over morzin in three karino Buster in two vich over manarino in three sets all right and we still have um Chevy and Buress fich and miton to play out and Gaston and Eubanks to play out and M and soflin to play out um Gaston my apologies we know Eubanks has got that win over um Gaston but it'll be very very interesting to see um who I guess continues to track there um it's going to be I think quite interesting uh to see I would I probably um gauge that the winner or semi-final winners here may make third round appearances at the US Open we might have a breakthrough of the round of 16 like we did have rinky last year but I think I really want to give more weight to Cincinnati okay let's head on over to the rankings because we do have a couple of movies this week starting with the top 100 we have the Jerry has broken into um a Sixpoint progression here to make the top 100 um congratulations and Well Done Fage is Up 3 to 94 per cell has a 23 Point regression to 91 Goffin is up to uh 290 um rori a 10-point regression 283 um 19 Point progression to Duma to 81 in the world um and we've got lackovic uh 12o regression to 66 that's very significant there all right I'm looking for the big movs this week we've got a lot of I think ones and twos I'm inside the top 50 mon just the one at 45 of a progression Zang three point progression to uh 41 there maak 39 a one point progression borus is a 4 point to 35 let Checker a 3 point to 32 all right top 30 here we come we've got analdi at 30 cundo 29 and here are the seeds essentially playing out Thompson's probably just going to miss out on the seed he's had a onepoint regression uh to 33 now um Bez is back one 21 TFO is the biggest mover I think inside this ranking Range s Point progression now um to 20 in the world we haven't seen TFO inside the top 20 I think for the best part of the last season since that regression but very very impressive um and we got a a Alysa back inside the top 20 former top 10 player and Felix is on the road I think towards the top 10 Again probably more so the top 15 by season's end if he has a good performance at the US Open all right then we got mati Hur 1817 respectively quar is back 1 to 16 run is up 1 to 15 Paul is back one to 14 Shelton's up one to 13 and then we've got Fritz Paul Shelton and Fritz really have been playing um well they've been exchanging places Etc I was looking for musical chairs um but Paul's been primed as a barrier breaker potentially this season I'm not going to be surprised if Paul makes the quarter finals of the US Open let's see how Shelton tracks if he can um I think make that semi-final appearance again probably I'm going to put him at a quarterfinal there Fritz probably a dark horse if he can maintain his level of play uh potentially quarterfinals semi-finals if he plays some of the best tenants of his life Fritz could very well make the finals of the US Open um that could be really really interesting however um he's not let's say inside that top four that I have mentioned um from the likes of cner joov elz and Zar noteworthy as we get inside I think the top 10 look um tisas is just outside uh the top 10 and there's only 10 points separating him from deor with deor having a couple of weeks off due to that hip injury okay so it looks like U if Alex cannot let's say make the round of 16 quarterfinals of uh the US Open Antipas does he will be bumped out Antipas will be bumped back in both of them have been inside the top 10 this year nonetheless all right then we've got I think um only by roughly around 200 a little bit more is dimitro at 9 and then another 200 we've got Rood and then only another 200 roughly hers um but then there's a very big jump with rubl there's roughly around 800 um separating seven from six before then we get to nead which is a big Elite there's roughly around I will say 1,400 points separating the two where meev is firmly at five but then there's 800 there where zarev is at four um interestingly between zarev and alra only roughly a bit over 300 points that's quite noteworthy and between alres and jovic is only 100 points however between jovic and sinner is a little bit less than 2,000 points um very significant which means sinner can lose his place as number one if eles or jovic really does triumph and zarev if he uh wins potentially the US Open he will be bumped up to number two there a lot of I think significant uh mover there whereas on the WT chour if SW Tech makes I think it's the round of 16 at least I don't think she will actually lose her ranking whereas on the ATP Tour there's more I think at margin for uh one of those players to be replaced okay I really want to wrap up today's episode so then um vying up or leading up to the US Open again only a couple of days away we can dive into a bit more of um who's who when the draw is released it has not been released as of yet okay on that note thank
