we are less than 29 hours away now from the first presidential debate between vice president kamla Harris and former president Donald Trump wr's Julia Benbrook is joining us live in Philadelphia where preparations are underway for that debate Julia both of these candidates are looking to present themselves as a candidate who can bring change while Harris is pitching herself as a clean break from a bitterly divisive era in politics the former president is looking to point to Harris's time in the Biden Administration and blame her for issues like inflation higher mortgage rates and more vice president kamla Harris has spent the days leading up to the debate hunkered down with her team in Pittsburgh making brief public appearances Donald yes I am yes AIDS say Harris has held mock debates and is leaning on advice from former president Donald Trump's previous Democratic opponents President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hoping to benefit from their experiences he plays from this really old and tired Playbook right where he there's no floor for him in terms of how low he will go and um and we should be prepared for that the vice president has been reading briefing papers about Trump's positions and past comments including the insults he's directed at her despite the recent change at the top of the democratic ticket sources say Trump's debate prep strategy hasn't changed changed much since he faced Biden in June we're run by stupid people stupid stupid people and we found that out at the debate with Joe how did that work out and we're going to find it out again on Tuesday night is anybody going to be watching the former president argues he doesn't need formal preparation such as mock debates but has been meeting with senior advisers policy experts and outside allies to ready himself for Tuesday we talk about but there's not a lot you can do you either know your subject or not you either have good policy or not this could be a make or break moment for these candidates especially when you look at the polling in the Battleground States like here in Pennsylvania where 16% of those polled said that they were undecided or could change their mind the debate is scheduled to last for 90 minutes and it is moderated by ABC anchors lindsy Davis and David mure reporting live in Philadelphia Julia Ben Brook WR news and you can watch the presidential debate right here on W coverage starts at 8:00
