today's weather update as you can see at the top of your screen we are looking at winter heatwave conditions as winter comes to an end for 20 24 and it looks like at the moment we might be skipping spring and jumping in straight to summerlike daytime temperatures as we move through tomorrow and right through to Wednesday of next week so the chart that you see on your screen at the moment this is our temperatures at the 850 levels of the atmosphere our 850 temperature anomaly charts showing where temperatures are above or below average and as you can see at the moment we have big air mass of dry hot air building right across through Central uh Australia moving into Western Queensland now this is on a loop playing across from tomorrow right through till next Wednesday and basically this area all in here will be subjected to right from Western Queensland down to Southern Queensland into Southeastern Queensland will be subjected to uh warm to hot daytime temperatures over the next couple of days you can see here this big purple shaded area here indicating temperatures anywhere six to potentially up to 10° above average here we go look at this right through through South Australia coming up into Allis Springs temperatures anywhere to 10 to 14° above average for maximum daytime temperatures and look at it shift continues to track eastwards as we get into Southeast Queensland across the next couple of days where Southeast Queensland could see temperatures anywhere between 10 to 14 degrees above average so some warm to hot temperatures on the way and if we take a look at satellite imagery this is water vapor satellite imagery at the moment for uh the eastern part of Australia so we use this satellite imagery chart to look at where there's moisture levels in the atmosphere and where there's dry stable air and as you can see all this brown dark uh dark gray light gray is all dry stable air so we do have some dry hot air on the Move remember all the daytime temperatures well and truly above average as they shift towards the east coast when you see these little pockets of green that's obviously IND indicative of moisture content in the atmosphere but as you can see across Queensland it's dry stable Air at the moment let's take a look at your current temperatures across Southeast Queensland this afternoon where it's still warm and muggy with most areas sitting in the mid to high 20s low 30s across pretty much all of the southeast Queensland region uh this afternoon so let's start with the Southeast coast District we can see the Northerly winds making their way down so if we start down the G Coast this afternoon we've got temperatures between 23 to 26 at surface Paradise it's 24° at oxenford 28 degrees out towards boow desert on and bua on the scenic Rim ipswitch 31° and same at LAD it's 25 de in the Brisbane CBD Brisbane metro area 22 degrees at Victoria Point on brisbane's Bayside 22 degrees at Brisbane airport 24 at Deception Bay 24 at Kabula 22 degrees on Morton Island 27 degrees at Woodford maruchi door up on the sunny Coast sitting on 27 cool and Beach 23 toon 24 we push up to the wide Bay Bernett District 23 to 24 degre at tin cam Bay it's 28 at gimpy 26 kingaroy 29 at Gander 23° respectively at both marabar and buber and 22° at Harvey Bay pushing out towards the West towards our friends on the darling Downs Granite belt we still got temperatures there in the mid to high 20s low 30s with war 28 degrees 24 at Stan Thorp 31 at Inglewood 28 at Gund windy it's between 27 28 at Toba 28 at Oki and Dolby both respectively 30° at chinchilla and Miles rounding it out with 30° and the bad news is these warm to hop temperatures are sticking around right through until at least Wednesday of next week let's jump into some look at the observations for Queensland today taking a look at some of the highest temperatures that were were recorded uh today taking a look firstly at the darling Downs Granite belt 31.7 degrees recorded at 259 today at Chinchilla airport Dolby chipping in with 31.3 de at 215 31 6 at 213 at Gundy 322 at miles at 229 p.m. as also also 32.2 at Oki at 235 p.m. Warick chipping in with 30.3 de at 219 and well Camp airport 31.9 degrees so temperatures above 30° on the daring Downs today wide Bay Bernett similar story temperatures all ranging in the mid to high 20s there uh the only area to crack the 30° Mark was Gander coming in at 30.5 De at 30 6 p.m. this afternoon and in the Southeast coast District temperatures even warmer we had am 33.7 degre today at 235 p.m. archerfield 31.5 de at 122 31.7 at beerm at 203 p.m. 32.8 at BO desert 308 p.m. and then Gaton taking out the top honor so far for the highest recorded temperature Gatten today 34.3 de at 231 p.m. 31.6 at Green Bank at 131 and that was the temperatures above 30° in the Southeast coast and as I said unfortunately more on the way especially across the weekend for you Saturday where the Brisbane River fire fireworks displays on over at the Southbank Parklands um so make sure you take a drink bottle all right let's jump into some forecast information from the professionals at the Bureau of meteorology and this forecast was issued at 440 p.m. this afternoon on Wednesday the 28th of August and in their weather situation the bureau is talking about a new high pressure system moving over Southeast Australia by early next week and with that high pressure system comes the potential for dry hot winds to extend right into Southeast Queensland by Monday so if we take a look at the forecast for tomorrow excuse me the bureau talking about on Wednesday the 29th of August well above average temperatures in the interior area south of Townsville into Southeast Queensland so well above average temperatures Thursday it's the same story on Friday well above average temperatures for the southeast Queensland satday looks to be where the uh temperatures begin to pick up uh right into the mid-30s on Saturday again well above average daytime temperatures for Southeast Queensland it's the same story on Sunday temperatures above average well above average in southeast Queensland and the same on Monday and temperatures remaining above average right through until Wednesday when we see temperatures look to cool down as we get into the Thursday and hopefully more spring light conditions so again a winter Heat Wave on the way for Southeast Queensland now let's take a look at some forecast model data of what we're looking at and just a reminder from this point of the video onwards that the following forecast information I'm about to give you is that of an amateur Storm Chaser only and not reflective of a professional or qualified meteorologist for all official forecast information I urge you to visit the bomb at www. bomb. goo. au/ Queensland all right so let's take a look at some forecast data provided by the weather Met Center uh weather forecasting platform and and and this is an absolutely fantastic absolutely fantastic weather forecasting platform highly recommended for $8 a month you get everything you need at your fingertips obviously weather watch is run by professional meteorologist and stormchaser extraordinaire Anthony Cornelius and for those of you in the weather Community uh familiar with Anthony and his work know that he is very very well respected and this is his uh weather forecasting platform that he runs with his business business and it is absolutely fantastic now as we looked at the start of the video we are currently looking at the accg model which is the Bureau of meteorology forecast model and we're looking at temperatures at the 850 levels but this is the temperature anomaly chart so we're looking for anomalies with temperatures at the 850 levels which are quite a little bit close to the surface and we want to see if temperatures are above average or if they are below average and as you can see on this Loop look at this look at these daytime temperatures here we will just pause it look at the this as we get into uh by Saturday this is Saturday uh getting into look at this temperatures 10 12 14 degrees all above average as we push into satday and you can see this dry hot warm humid air or uh dry hot warm uh air mass just moving towards the east as we go across the next couple of days so as we go through Saturday look at this temperatures for the Southeast coast District 12° above average for this time of the year so very unseason likee winter daytime temperatures and again these temperatures it's just not one or two days the these look to extend as we get through into Monday uh sorry into Sunday into Monday into Tuesday into Wednesday before we finally see the temperatures drop back as we get into Thursday of next week and there you can see the temperatures starting to drop just a little bit back uh as we get into Thursday of next week but again look at these above average daytime temperatures so plenty of warm to hot temperatures on the way now we're going to take a look at what daytime temperatures you can possibly expect uh as we get into uh the next couple of days starting from tomorrow all the way through until Wednesday of next week and the model that we're going to take a look at here is the ocf model and what ocf stands for is operational consensus forecast model and basically what this model does is it takes the output from about eight of the top computer weather models in the world and it combines the output from those eight models and it gives weight to the models that obviously perform the best and then it comes out with the uh you know the final result from the combination of all that data from those top eight weather models across the world so starting tomorrow temperatures look at this wide Bay Bernett District temperatures in the high 20s uh from Miriam bille down to Bundy marabar Sunny Coast so in those light to dark green areas that's your temperatures in the high 20s and then as we get into the yellows and the dark yellows we've got temperatures all in the low 30s so right from 31 uh 30 to 31 32° Sim story on the darling Dan grer belt temperatures all in the low3s with the Southeast coast District in particular across brisbane's West and the scenic Rim temperatures could reach up to around 33° as we get in tomorrow a little bit cooler towards the coastal areas of Southeast uh the Southeast coast district with again temperatures in the high 20s so you can see all along the southeast Queensland Coast temperatures all in the high 20s but the further Inland you go you can really see the temperatures start to climb up into those low to mid-30s and out on the Marino Wargo temperatures all in the mid-30s as we go into tomorrow Friday similar story you can see temperatures maintaining in the low to mid-30s across brisbane's West Scenic Rim areas temperatures anywhere from up to 30 to 33 34° coastal areas again along the southeast Queensland Coast temperatures remaining in the high 20s elsewhere across the southeast Queens areas all temperatures in the low to mid-30s as we get into Friday and then you'll see satday here we go riverfire so for those of you going to River fire make sure you take some cold water plenty of hydration cuz it is going to be warm you can see southeast coast District temperatures all in the low3s to the mid-30s and it's the similar story up in the wide Bay Bernett District darling Down's Granite belt temperatures all in the low to mid-30s on Saturday some areas could possibly see anywhere from 34 to 35 de which would obviously challenge some weather records here in southeast Queensland we get into Sunday see the temperatures are sticking around they're not they're not going away all temperatures in the low to mid-30s again temperatures possibly 35° on the scenic Rim is we get into Sunday possibly 34° just to the south of gimpy up in the wide Bay bernet District but temperatures all in the low to mid-30s again as we get on Sunday similar story for Monday look at this possibly 36 degrees as we get into Monday for areas west of am the scenic Rim in the Southeast coast District temperatures still remaining in the low or the high 20s along the coastal areas from Miriam Vil down to marabar but the further Inland you go on the wide Bay bernet District again these areas here all in the low to mid-30s and the same story across the daring down temperatures all in the low to mid-30s as we get into Monday we get into Tuesday temperatures again still on the low to mid-30s uh as we get through into which day was this sorry into Tuesday excuse me again we're getting into Tuesday temperatures all in those mid-30s again in areas from gimpy down through um the Sunshine Coast Hinterland areas down into brisbane's North side down on brisbane's West we see temperatures a little bit cooler in the southern parts of the darling Dan's Granite belt where they could be temperatures in the mid to high 20s same thing along the coastal areas just here miranville down to marabar temperatures in the low to high 20s but look at these Inland areas temperatures in the low to mid-30s as we end our winter season out and then as we get into Wednesday we can see the temperatures all start dropping back all down into the low to mid high 20s and then Thursday we're still in those low to high 20° ranges with the warm temperatures seeming to drop off so last chart we look at again is uh temperature anomaly chart and this is at the surface so again looking at for uh surface temperatures that are above or below average basically areas of red and Maron is where all the well and truly above average daytime temperatures are so again that's on Monday if we bring it right through back to Sunday you can see right across Southeast Queensland daytime temperatures anywhere to 6 to 12 Dees above average as we go through the next couple of days satday back through till Friday coming back till Thursday so again we'll roll it out from 4:00 tomorrow Thursday and basically just keep your eye on the cursor area just here and as you can see for Southeast Queens Lane those daytime temperatures well and truly above average so some warm to hot temperatures on the way people as we move across the next couple of days right through until Wednesday of next week so stay
