One of my friends worked a 12 hour day with back to school night and it was, she was had ice packs in her dress and she was dizzy. By the end of the day, Friday, parents outside of Saban Elementary, worried about the lack of air conditioning in schools, students attending schools with no ac within Portland public schools and other districts like David Douglas were released hours early. It is an inconvenience. I'm really lucky. I work from home and I live in the neighborhood so I can walk home. I know for some people who you know, are in offices or can't get out of work. It's really hard out of 81 Portland public schools, only 15 have air conditioning. So it's just indicative of poor, you know, poor funding and poor, you know, decision making up at the, you know, at the government level, ensuring that we, you know, that we invest in safe environments for Children and teachers. As for funding Friday, Governor Tina Kok, that the state has some resources for districts doing renovations like providing them with matching funds. In the meantime, some parents wonder if the community can come together for a temporary solution to maybe, you know, window units, something I'm sure, you know, we could have some type of drive, uh something to get these because they're going to keep happening in May. And September even October for those not in school, two cooling centers in county reopened for the second day in a row. One at Portland Covenant Church and another at Cook Plaza in Gresham. 151 people were helped at those sites Thursday and there are other places to escape the heat. We are encouraging families if they need to get inside and get cool to go to libraries, community centers or also utilize the flash pads that have been reopened the city. The county's Department of Public Health also described the temperatures as dangerous and warned people to stay hydrated and check on one another. If anyone is experiencing symptoms that are consistent with heat stroke, that's really an emergency situation. So instead of coming to a shelter or a cooling site, um people should call 911 or, or get immediate medical attention. Now, those cooling centers will not be open tomorrow as temperatures are expected to be below the heat threshold. As for schools, PPS says that they expect to return to their normal schedules by Monday. David back to you.
