Election day is nine weeks from today and it's crunch time for the party pick to make their final pitches to triad voters. This morning, current Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who is the Republican nominee for governor, made a campaign stop in Lexington. Davidson County is where Robinson took 70% of the vote in the March Republican primary. Today, he talked to voters at Village grill. He spoke about the criticism he said he's received since announcing he was running for governor. I never thought I'd see an America where when people stand up and wanna do right, not just in their own life, but try to do right by their neighbors that you would have people that would despise you because of try to destroy you because of meanwhile, outside of the restaurant, a group of demonstrators gathered holding signs and voicing opposition to Robinson's proposed policies and past remarks. We want to convey to the people in North Carolina that we need true leadership in our government and divisive divisiveness is not leadership. It's unclear if Robinson and the demonstrators made efforts to speak to one another after the event running against Robinson for the state's top office is Democrat Attorney General Josh Stein, who has a visit to Franklin County scheduled this evening. It comes on the heels of his visit to the Triad last week. He's continuing his real time with Stein Tour in North Carolina. The goal of the talk is to hear from voters and talk about issues that are most important to them. The event starts at five.
