about to kick off to get things started and no chance at a return for this drive at their own 25 the offense set for a first down play wide receiver now comes in motion looking for room it's price good solid run on that one as he gets it up to the 33 yd line coaches always harp about ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that he leaves it with his back Bulls his way forward finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down Hey listen explosive play comes in all different shapes and sizes that time they attack the outside to the left on the ground and that is a momentum shifting play they know they have a huge Advantage there I I expect them to go right back to it and what do you do now if you're on defense you got to be expecting that they're going to try and Tack that side of the field maybe in the same way maybe on this next play right here all the way down to the 25 yd line they move the sticks it's first down first down you know you always want to establish the running game how about this offense nothing fancy run the football be physical get a big game North Tex Texas has it going to work with another first down he wants to throw setting up the screen and the defense able to drag him down but not before they'll recycle that down marker there's a lot of different ways this offense can attack you throwing the ball one of them is getting the running back going and the screen is a great way to get him lathered up and get the defense starting to think about him a little bit more now got some room enter to the goal line touchdown M green and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board that is how you get your playmaking wide receiver in the game early first series they scripted this they want to get him the football they get him the football and he does the rest gets the big touchdown in the opening drive of the game the kickoff bounces through the end zone they'll bring it out to the 25 [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the offense lining up for a first down [Music] play leaves it with the back Works ahead for a couple they'll stop him at the 27 and the defense doing a great job committing to the Run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first back to throw it's milro going to try to get it himself he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks QB's got to be able to play on so many different levels they got to read coverages know the snap count know what everybody's doing and then does a great job at the end making something out nothing making a positive play picking up a new set of downs a new set of problems for this defense Powers through the defender good pick up on the ground and they'll Mark him down at the 39 after the productive first down play at second and six the back goes in motion now the play fake caught in the back field it's Miller makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before he's dragged to the ground nice job by the running back catching the football and understanding where the first down marker was I got to go get that first down did a nice job of it throw to the tight end finds a man on the right and a big time grab there knocked down immediately but not before he gets it to the 40 a productive play is one that gets you at least halfway to another first down here on First and [Applause] 10 makes the grab it's prentis find a crease at the 20 he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down good job by the receiver there not to run into coverage but to find a spot that the quarterback could throw him the ball yeah on those types of routes Rees they say if you're looking your booking so if that's man coverage the receiver staring at the quarterback all the way across the field that time the receiver didn't give the quarterback his eyes so they were on the same page they both knew it was zon and they executed that perfect that's the end of the first quarter with the score North Texas 7 Alabama 0 we'll get this quarter going with a second down play off play action and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep and the big tight end a lot of times that's a bigger Strike Zone a bigger dude and you could tell they put the hit on him and that ball came out and it came to the turf nice job playing physical by this defense throws to the wide out and it's incomplete on third down really nice third down sub defense there that time it's third and long they're expecting pass and they're mixing up their looks they're trying to change the picture pre- snap to post Snap to confuse the quarterback now forcing the incompletion setting up fourth they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it away Alabama he'll bring it out it's ward he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] North Texas sends the offense back onto the field boy David they would love to stack another touchdown on top of that last drive and this offense did such a good job on the last Drive everything in Rhythm moved the ball down the field didn't make those mistakes Jesse and they need to do it again on this one you're right they had the defense on their heels you wonder what sort of communication was going on that sideline what sort of changes were they able to make cuz they got to stop the bleeding right now sixy pickup on first down leaves him with second and [Applause] four dropping back it's Morris under heavy pressure lets it Fly that passes in compl and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock three for a fumble it'll be third down well he didn't have a whole lot of time to get rid of that one the defense was all over him right after the snap no wonder that thing fell in complete couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and four makes the grab on the left still running up the 40 open Runway ahead the 20 almost took it all the way but a huge gain in him set up first and goal I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly they've really got this offense humming just a fourth play of the drive and it's first and goal Relentless tough running gets it down to the four this defense has got to get better at tackling in the open field or gang tackling because if you need three or four guys to bring a guy down have fun with that quickly complete and they knock him down in the back field outstanding play by the defense I love defenses that can tackle the catch right away you're not giving up any Yak as soon as that player has the ball he goes down now third and goal from way back there the give to the running back from the shotgun strong firm tackle second quarter might not be gamble time but inside the three Palmer I've got the green light I'm going for this I am too and you're essentially running a two-point play here right you've got a play you practice all week long that's the play you dial up right here he splits to the uprights and puts three on the board after putting up a three spot the kickoff unit set to go the ball bounces through the end zone and it will be a [Applause] Touchback the tied offense rolls onto the field Jesse they had to kick a field goal the last time they had it yeah often times early in games you're just trying to find your Rhythm some things work some don't on that first drive David be interesting to see what happens here hit the gas kid wide open ahead he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs wants to throw it's milrad unloads it downfield that one Falls incomplete trying to get a chunk play on that one well even though that was an incompletion I wouldn't be surprised if this secondary wants to start playing deeper coverages CU this offense has shown that they're willing to be aggressive they've got a lot of speed this defense cannot allow any big play here in the second half oh he's going to try to get it all here and and he'll pull it in inside the 20 touchdown tie made the grab and finish the deal in The End Zone it was a really nice job on the route concept because they got the safety occupied which opened up the Deep middle of the field for the receiver on the post he uses his speed nice job by the quarterback putting it out in front of him he makes the catch and then runs it into the end zone so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off the this half fielded In The End Zone it's Ward not nearly as much as he'd hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 first 10 North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return to the field always good to get points on a drive David but Chip Shot field goals can leave you a little imp and I think it's great to get points but the great teams get touchdowns in the red area you got to get out there this time and execute a little better on this drive you're absolutely right David and generally the best Red Zone offenses are the ones that run the ball the best so let's see if they can be a little bit more physical on this drive and it'll be a pick up of nine they're facing a third and one the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only allamerican in this booth game if I were allowed had push passes I was playing quarterback I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead coming around the outside north Texas will have to punt it away first time we've seen their punt team this afternoon fair catch called for and take it at the 30 yd line [Applause] here comes that Alabama offense how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden opportunity yeah and I'm interested to see this defense too like the momentum is clearly not in your favor how do you get it it back how do you make a big play do you be more aggressive here to try to get the football back to your offense and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three they'll immediately call timeout and now on second down for this [Applause] offense to the air it's milro throws to the back he's got it and they'll finally catch up to him but not before for a big chunk of yardage is picked upab they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half getting some heat and the defense makes a play they get the quarterback down at the 26 we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays and here on second down they'll send out the FI field goal unit to try to get three before the break it's good and with that they've taken the lead that makes the score that late in a half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer from inside his own 15 looking for a crevice and The Return Man is stopped and that'll leave it up to the offense on the next Drive North Texas will kick it off to start things here in the second half kick fair catch called for and made the tied offense rolls onto the field they got plenty done through the air in the first half and we'll see if they even need to look for balance as we start the third quarter well and I I think defensively you understand like the running game isn't a big part of the plan I wonder how they adjust to play more coverage to this pass happy offense yeah so you're going to have to be ready if you're a quarterback then you're probably going to see some different coverages you might see a little bit more Blitz in the second half as well so you have to know where your answers are he lets one fly deep picked off didn't let him get loose on the return but he'll take it as they have the ball at the 47 what a big gamechanging play I love when you see defensive players they jump on the ball like they were the offensive guys so aggressive going and getting that pick creating some big Mojo for your team not a whole lot of progress made there on the short dun after picking up a couple at second and eight let's go defense trying to keep this offense from getting a line on who to block got it set up on the outside they make the stop but not before the screen has hit him for a first down and much more really good execution by this offense great job too by the QB there holding the ball as long as possible allowing the pass rush to get up field and at the very last second getting it to his guy so that he can go get the first down they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down that throw and catch a really good example of why coaches don't want a quarterback to get stuck on a particular Target isn't it David yep that's exactly right find the guy who's open because you got so many guys that have so much speed they can do so much damage on the field find my matchup get it to him let him do the rest he'll toss it and he finds Some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him operating in the Red Zone here on second down they'll try the Run he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down mark fast motion from the offense looks as if he's going to run it touchdown North Texas and with that they've got the lead here in the second half the defense knew coming into this game they were going to have their hands pull not only do they have to worry about these running backs in the running game they had to worry about the quarterback as well on design runs and on scrambles they didn't have an answer for him right there lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive 1 the returner will field it and try to do some business didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the [Music] pads touchdown mean green and this defense coming up with points of their own what an inter
