nation's largest county I'm Martha Guzman herado let's get [Music] started as students head back into the Preschool Services Goes Back To School classroom San berardino County preschool services department is also busy getting families with small children prepared for their academic Journey let's take a look preschool Services offers a variety of Social Services to support children and families to be successful in the community a lot of people think that preschool Services were just for the kids in reality we serve the entire family and we serve the entire Community we provide a comprehensive array of child development and family services for our communities throughout San berino County we are all about back to school every time uh child gets ready to transition we form a transition plan with the parent back to school is fun because uh it's a chance for them to see their friends again it's a chance for them to play with all the toys that we have at the centers but they also like being with the teachers that they know they're just happy to be there to create a good environment where they feel safe and loved and they can really grow once you get connected with our program it's a lifechanging experience I know it helped me out a lot because without this program I don't know what I would do with my son I wouldn't be able to work we have our Head Start program which serves children 3 to 5 years old we also have an early Head Start program which serves children 0 to2 I was born to a teen mom raised by my grandmother who put me in Head Start and I always say that's the greatest gift she could have ever given me to set that Foundation to have a love for learning part of making up fun for families is really identifying what families need and what they like we also have our low-income first time mothers program we have our fatherhood fire program we have parent workshops that are designed to support economic stability parent growth Career Development preschool Services Department from the mount to the desert District Minute Featuring Third District Supervisor Chairman Dawn Rowe San Bernardino County's thirdd district is represented by chairman of the board supervisor Don Ral who has this month's District [Music] menet thank you Martha I'm superviser Don raal and I represent the Third District last month the board unanimously approved my resolution calling on the governor and state leaders to stabiliz California's property insurance Marketplace many of our residents especially those in the mountain areas are are finding it increasingly difficult to get coverage it's time for the state to hear our pleas for our residents something that may help is our County's designation as a fire risk reduction Community this new status may help residents obtain homeowners insurance as insurance companies are required to consider the fire risk reduction designation when setting rates lastly I want to call attention to a special place in my district the Desert View Conservation Area a 600 acre Desert wildlife habitat here's County Special Districts manager Frank Hager to tell us more the County of San Bernardino has embraced the fact that we have really amazing Open Spaces throughout the county the Desert View Conservation Area in Joshua Tree is 605 Acres of open space it is a conservation area because we have sensitive desert tortoise habitat here as well as other animals that make this their home this is actually part of a wildlife Corridor that connects to the Joshua Tree National Park we also have different cacti yucka plants and Joshua trees the Board of Supervisors has actually been involved through the whole process to preserve the site we've been able to install trail head area kind of a general staging area main Monument sign at the entrance to The Preserve then we actually defined the 3 miles of recreational Trails we're currently working on an exciting project that's going to bring some informational kiosks to the area there will also be a nice viewing platform that's going to have some binoculars on it we are thrilled to be able to offer this unique space to the community and
