the noon hour is here check it out and you're locked on to Utah's highest rated most listened to sports radio station it's my station it's my station this is H sson and Scotty G on 975 the KSL Sports Zone [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] hey welcome on in 975 the KSL board Zone H ol and Scott Gerard let's do it folks it is a Friday let's have some fun how you doing Hans I'm doing fantastic Scotty and I am happy to be with you and Lloyd you guys brighten my day every time I get a chance to talk to you and you asked me how I'm feeling about being in Dallas I told you it's in probably the top five of cities I want to live in or near because of housing prices because of cost of living and because cuz your boy Ian just did you right and when I'm saying right I'm saying big time right so you know that Mr Greg Rebel is pretty picky about his food he he likes the food and he wants it his way and he likes good food and uh Mitch who's our sideline guy and Jake Murphy who is not the receiving Jake Murphy but is the cells Jake Murphy is here with us he's Greg spotter on the road and you know it's it's heavy lifting to come in with a strong food suggestion can the food touch is it weird like that what's that what's that you said he's a little particular with food uh yeah just the he wants good food he wants good food Scotty you know what I'm talking about he will oh yeah no he'll be very upset if it's if you suggest a place and it's not good um and we saw him at a uh we took him to a pizza place in Vegas and he wasn't ready to trust that that pizza that we were ordering so he ordered a salad and for some reason watching Greg rubel eat a salad was really fascinating like he really awesome like he cut cuts the salad like he's got a knife and fork he has his system yeah oh my goodness yes it was well I was looking at you and and you were you you just kind of looked at me like hey this is how it is just don't make a big deal out of it I'm like okay because You' been you've eaten a lot of meals with him yeah there's a lot of things I love about Greg and the way he loves food is one of my favorite things but Lloyd the point I'm making is he comes to the table with kind of an energy of yes okay I'm really excited this needs to be good and then you know he's he's a broadcaster so he's got opinions and I rolled out the suggestion according to Ian it's Fitz Simmons right yes so I rolled out the suggestion from Ian and I said all right it's Lona and it's it's a TexMex and it was only like 8 minutes from our hotel Scotty so everything was perfect about it we showed up the service is incredible had a SAT had the the chips and salsa the chips and salsa were authentic fresh made had our orders taken had already ref filled our drinks once and I ordered this uh chicken it's a CH marinated chicken breast on a bed of sauteed mushrooms and onions so it's it's not a fita because it's got a like a different flavoring to it but it sits on the same type of you know heated fajita plate and the onions just had this amazing marinade that had Satur ated through it and these mushrooms had sat on some hot plate and it they crusted up just enough that you get a little bit of crust but you still got that soft mushroom bite and then they marinated this chicken breast it's full Perfection it was fresh pressed corn tortillas and Mitch Jurgen served his mission in Mexico and so he's really particular with his Mexican food or his TexMex and I said you got to try one of these corn tortillas and he bit into it he's like holy cow like it was a flashback to his mission he's like this is the most authentic corn tortilla I've tasted and we just sat there and and Greg he loves tortilla soup and anytime we go to Texas Mech or Mexican food he loves tortilla soup so he ordered the tortilla soup he took a bite and I got the fist pump the whole like pit Bowl you know pump down like yes and I'm like Ian I owe you a bit of gratitude so wherever you are Ian thank you well he'll be on with us on Tuesday and uh you can thank him there were two places that he recommended specifically that one and then there was a barbecue place I think the pon Lodge he mentioned yep peon Lodge and uh and uh he said those are the two places to go and so I'm glad because you're always worried about like you know I've known Ian forever um and so like me passing on to you one of his recommendations is almost like me telling you to go see a movie that I haven't seen but I'm hearing good things about and the last time I did that was get out and you got very angry with me about that so so had you had a bad experience you would have yelled at me and then I would have had to go to Ian I'm like hey man you did my dude dirty and so I am so grateful that it worked out it worked out well for oh oh man I'm just I'm just right now I feel like I'm floating on a cloud of happiness and gratitude and Enlightenment and and excitement because it's game day and as you know Scotty it's a lot of work but yes man do I love game days I I I love them I just love the energy of them you know it this this hotel is jam-packed with BYU fans I went down the lobby and there was probably 15 20 BYU fans that that were in there kind of buzzing around I had five different fans come up to me they said oh man love the hands of Scotty show the one this one guy goes oh I'm one of the silent majority in the state that loves you guys and you know just energy of the place yeah he said I'm the silent majority I I represent the silent majority that uh listens to you guys every single day and I I just just I love it he had his family with him I was talking to his little 11 or 12 yearold son that wants to play football and oh nice it's just all Buzz it's all buzzing it's just full of excitement and then I've told you from I I think going back maybe it was uh when SMU played Nevada I said oh this is going to be a fun game and then Monday I showed up to work and I said Scotty this is going to be one of my favorite matchups I've done because there are so many strategic points in this game and so I now it's going to largely depend on how Jake Retzloff plays but I have actually put the emphasis or I have started to point my finger at the place of most importance in this game so I want to hit that and who who I think will deserve the majority of the blame or the majority of the credit if BYU is able to get out of Dallas with a win so we'll get into that a lot more today hey uh by the way um I'm up here in Logan I'm going to hop on a plane at one o00 you've got to head over the stadium at 1:00 which means LMA and and uh Mac are going to fend for themselves and uh so be careful like it's not like we really keep them in check anyway hands but those horses are run today so uh be very careful because H and I will not be there to supervise from 1 to three so I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen but it's going to be rather interesting I do have a little bit of an issue here that I need your advice on all right um real quick um you know we've been working on dropping a few lbs and um and I just had a catastrophic side effect that is going to wreck my life and I don't know how to handle this and Lloyd I need your help on this H I don't know if you can give me much advice because you don't wear one but somewhere along the line and I've been wearing it for 25 plus years my ring fell off my wedding ring oh and I have I have no idea where it's at like zero idea and I've been traveling all day driving up here to Logan stopped at a gas station uh and walked into an airport to uh to uh charge up this broadcast unit that I was that I'm using right now like this thing is gone gone like there's no way we is this the original band this is the original band oh my gosh I am sick to my stomach right now oh that sucker is 26 years old well one you don't bring it on air and you try to go to a shop and try to replicate it as best as you can no don't let it be known I can't do that I I I no I uh I just uh yeah in fact when I got into the car to fire up the unit and uh I looked down and it was gone I was like oh boy cuz that thing was getting pretty loose anyway but I didn't think well I was where were we when I saw it fall off your hand uh we were somewhere I saw yeah no it was uh we were at the uh it's happened a couple times and I've been able to track it down it was at the uh the you Sports thing um where we had Brian Russell and Greg G tag yeah and it fell off there but but one of our techs found it now I don't remember it falling off there at least I knew it fell off and so I'm like okay it's in this General vicinity but I've been at home I've been in gas stations I've been uh at an airport and there's been a lot of places I've been at and I don't know where this thing is I just barely noticed it's not on my hand I I sadly I think it's gone like yeah it's such a little it's it's such a little tiny deal but I would probably take the approach that Lloyd had mentioned and I would get a fake gold band or a fake band that somewhat replicates it the problem is you have married a very perceptive intelligent human being yeah know that's why I that's why I'm just going to own it be like hey this happened because one thing that my wife does not put up with with um and and she lets a lot of my nonsense go and God bless her for it but she doesn't put up with the whole deceptive thing or you know like oh yeah no this is the ring you gave me 26 years ago no this is the same one I'm giving you a chance are you sure you don't want to do this cuz I will scrub the website I'll scrub the show it won't have this this topic on there no no I'm not no I got to I got no I apprciate well if I remember right if I remember right didn't it have the inscription my little hug bunny it had a cute inscription on it it had an inscription on it but it's not for onair purposes let's just say that that's that's right it wasn't hug was it similar was it similar to what what's on her uh her bio a little bit yeah what used to be on her Twitter bio yeah uh yeah I I remember seeing the the words on that ring and even I blushed it was it yeah it's an impressive Insignia on a wedding uh somebody's going to find that ring and be like well this is a foulmouthed individual H yeah so yeah I'm a little sick to my stomach right now yeah yeah that that bums me out for you hopefully hopefully it'll pop up somewhere hopefully it's in this car or somewhere close where I I don't know that's just wishful hoping all right we got a lot to get personally I have I have never worn a ring personally I know I know I wore one maybe it was first like six months of being married and then never put one on again just because of football and then it became uncomfortable or any particular reason you still wanted to play the field a little bit or I found that it was preventing conversation and on the road so I oh man I'm uncomfortable no I just hate hate the way Rings fill on my fingers because I've got these just massive hot dog fingers they they look like those jumbo Franks and they press together and the Rings feel like they sink into it and press into it and then they get all scratched up and Scruffy and then I I've never liked the ring I hate the way they fill on my hands yeah and and plus you know what Scotty honestly I don't need I don't need a ring to really identify the depth of love that I have for a man so basically the three of us are are going to be ringless mama was getting a little bit too comfortable so I took it off to to let her know don't get too comfortable let her know this guy could uh this could end at any given moment [ __ ] you know and the the sad part is the sad part is I I went I went decades with that ring not even being able to even remotely come off my finger like that sucker was stuck on there like plaster because you know we gained a lot of weight from the wedding day and so I'm just you know I was grateful that I still had blood circulation to the tip of that finger because uh because that thing was so tight on that finger and then you drop a bunch of weight and then that sucker got all loose on me and I should have got it resized I should have done it and I kept thinking about it and I never did it well here's the problem now I'm in trouble you you've dropped the weight now you look good now is when you need a ring on that finger because the ladies are going to be swming because you're looking good bud uh yeah that that ain't going to happen as you can see on the uh the show by the way I know thanks for getting that updated and then we're getting we're getting some new pictures what little here in a couple weeks here in a couple weeks yep CU we got we got to get hands and his transformation too so let's go yeah all right let's get to it hands in Scotty starting lineup right now 975 DSL Sport Zone this is H and Scotty G let's go the lineup is set and and it's time to kick off the show with the biggest topic of the day this is the starting lineup on 975 the KSL Sports s it is your starting lineup right here on 975 the KSL Sport Zone Hans Olsson Scott Gerard all right Hans you mentioned it there is a particular thing or two that you are looking at in this BYU game that can ultimately get some success here in a few hours against SMU you've teased it now it's time to deliver what are you see what are you seeing this game I think and its outcome are put on the back of Jay Hill you could say this entire defensive staff but I think it largely goes onto the back of Jay Hilt now if BYU's offense comes out they have three turnovers or they snap a punt over their punter's head like SMU did a couple weeks ago and they have stupid special teams and offensive mistakes well okay we'll take that into account right Scotty but yeah if this offense does what I I think they should be able to do I think that BYU's offense should be able to put up right around 28 points against SMU maybe in that 30-point range if they have a really good game they might be able to leak into the 30-point range but maybe in that 28 point range so then it comes down to BYU's defense and this SMU offense has a lot of different layers that you got to pay attention to and so I I know that it's you know it can get a little bit uh intricate and detailed when you're pointing the finger at a coach or a side of the coaching staff but I do think that this is going to be a Jay Hill type of game so Scotty I showed you the film on a couple of things that I was really disappointed with from that defense against Southern Illinois you you saw the points of emphasis and you saw the problems well you now know that you cannot cover an athletic quarterback with an independent um a central centrally located spy you can't do it whether you're trying a safety or you're trying a a linebacker it didn't happen the way you were attempting to do it so you're going to have to change that up you're also going to have to change up some of your pass rushing and make sure that everybody stays on tight lanes and then you're going to probably have to run a good amount of Zone coverage in potential quarterback run down and distances where you know if it's instead of it being third and 15 when you know it's a pass and maybe you can press and go for some pressures if it's like a third and four where it's a scrambling passing down now I'm gonna probably have to play some Zone and how do I zone out a 6'5 235 pound tight end in RJ Maryland so the point I'm trying to make Scotty Jay Hill and this defensive staff have been tasked with an extremely difficult task of trying to manage this SMU offense and I've got a lot of faith a lot of faith in this defensive staff I know you do too but it is going to be put to the test bud there's no doubt about that and the multiple ways in which SMU can come after you and attack you from an offensive standpoint is going to be really fascinating but I am going to go back to what you mentioned yesterday and watching a little SMU film I went back and watch a little bit of the Nevada game um just because of your recommendation I do think BYU has a chance now again I don't know how actively you can pursue quarterbacks especially if Jefferson's in the lineup and how aggressive you can get because you might get you out of a lane and he might burn you with his legs but I do think there's an opportunity especially if it's Stone to get some pressures on him with that offensive line um I think BYU can get there with four they certainly can get there uh with with a blitz package but I do think there's opportunities there to be creative and how you rush the quarterback with some opportunities to get after after them and CA some Havoc there in the back field no I think you're right and I'm glad you went back and saw that and I'm glad your eyes saw what my eyes sees and that that offensive line it is their weakest position group they're their their offensive line is the one area where you should be able to get after them a little bit they're playing a sophomore at the left tackle um they're playing a junior at the right tackle they've got two guys that are are transfers they they don't have the continuity I don't know how much Casey Woods really leans on them or how much he really believes in them the SMU offensive coordinator so yeah I could see that would be the position that I would attack and you're right I think I would try to do it with my four downs and see if I could make something happen that way and then allow Harrison tagert and Jack Kelly and C MOA and glasker and Jay Bryant and Ice MOA and let all those guys just wander fill and make tackles if they can because I I think you're right and I do think that last week was just the opposite that southern Illinois offensive line by Far and Away was their strength and this week it's their SMU defensive line and I do think you're right I think that you could possibly make up some ground with how incapable this SMU offensive line could be at times yeah no doubt about it we'll continue to get you ready for this game uh we'll take a closer look at USC as well coming up next Scott wolf will join us as Utah state gets set for a showdown um uh against USC coming up tomorrow we'll have that game for you right here on the Zone uh right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone hey bro you hear us every day with our crazy opinions hey what you doing wearing on TV the best entries will be played on the air download the KSL Sports app now and hit the call-in button to let let your voice be heard I think you guys do an incredible job this is 975 the KSL Sports Zone [Music] Hansen Scotty 975 the KSL Sport Zone I'm up here in Logan about to hop on a plane Utah state will take on USC coming up tomorrow H is in Dallas where BYU will take on SMU kickoff of that in about 4 and a half hours from right now and knowing how you guys do things there on that broadcast your pregame show probably has already been going for two hours so uh you guys don't mess around man it's like a 12-hour pregame show leading up to kickoff it's not that bad it's not that bad it's just because you know I can get windy and Lloyd Lloyd used to get after me because he's like producers don't want to work the post games for you because you take your post games way too long and then I had one guy that tried to fight me during a postgame 3 hours in after Utah had beat Oregon and I had invited Jake Murphy and West Tonga down to be a part of the post game and we're 4 hours in Scotty and it's like 2:30 in the morning and I'm still just having a blast because we're breaking down football because it's not work it's a pleasure it's a joy of my life and uh and he was like we got to wrap it up and then is that the time you told him you that that he will never work again in this business and you'll make sure no this is the guy this is the guy that he started drinking at about 11: and by by 2:00 he was sloshed and couldn't finish his job and that was the last job he had with us yep okay that was that event yeah that that was no bueno that wasn't good at all all right hands and Scotty again I'm on my way to Los Angeles I'll have the call of tomorrow's game as Utah State takes on USC Scott wolf joining us from inside USC join the program several times before but look forward to catching up with him again Scott how you doing man appreciate you hanging out with us I'm doing great how are you guys doing we're doing well not as well as USC fans after that win against a good LSU team uh how surprised were you that uh USC uh performed as well as they did and and came away with that win or did you see that one coming well there were a lot of unknowns going into the game I think it's fair to say that there were a lot of major questions and um frankly LSU had a lot of major questions too so it was hard to kind of predict you know what was going to happen in that game but you know you can definitely say USC's better on defense and you know their offense looked pretty good and then you know I don't think we really know how good LSU is going to end up being I think they showed some uh weaknesses in that game but um as far as the fans you know they're pretty happy cuz I think a lot of them thought uh we're going to have a problem with an SEC team and and you know they were kind of dreading what might happen after last season so everybody's pretty optimistic at the moment well you've got to give it to Miller Moss who takes over for a Heisman Trophy winner comes in and throws for nearly 400 yards in the biggest matchup of the week on the biggest Channel and the biggest moment and looked like he was ready for that moment give me your thoughts on Miller moss in that game and also was is that surpassing expectations and what is the Hope and expectation from here on out for Miller Moss well you know he had a really good Holiday Bowl uh last year but I think a lot of people including myself were wondering is that just against a bad defense and you know what is it going to be like when he has to play a real team and uh he came out and looked good on uh Sunday night against LSU um he's different than Caleb Williams you know not a real uh mobile guy running around and stuff like that stays in the pocket but he's showing I think uh all the years he spent at USC you know running the offense and being patient it's paying off now and uh the team has a lot of respect for the guy because he's been so loyal and uh consistently backed everybody at USC the last four years so I think the expectations are now pretty high for the offense um and the questions you know there was a a quarterback competition that was frankly very close with Jaden mayva the UNLV transfer and Maya actually looked better in the spring game they had um than Moss did but you know there's no quarterback controversy now and and I think you know whatever the questions are going forward that you know Moss isn't the big mystery or the big weak spot at this point so I was putting my spotting boards together for the game and uh I'm adding guys onto that defensive side and I'm like okay he's a transfer portal guy he's a transfer portal guy everybody that started the first game of the year against LSU except for one Hans is a transfer portal guy and uh so I'm looking at this I'm like wow they really reshaped that thing um and I was talking to some of the coaches at Utah State and they said oh of course the year that we play USC is the year they really decide to really focus on the defense and try to button that thing down uh is this just a collection of talent that's starting to click and they've really hit on these dudes or what do you attribute the Improvement at least after one game defensively for UFC I attribute it to the fear of maybe losing your job if you're Lincoln rile Ley because the defense was awful the last two years so he brought in a whole new staff and they brought in like you just said a bunch of transfers and you know it's an ironic to me that two Oregon State guys are like the backbone of the defense who would ever thought back in the Glory Days that uh USC needed Oregon State players to turn their program around but uh that's that's where it's at right now and um you know you guys might be familiar but they have a defensive tackle from Wyoming named Gavin Meyer who totally outplayed bear Alexander who gets all the hype and publicity and everything else uh and you know Alexander didn't start and he didn't make as many plays as this guy from Wyoming so um they made some smart decisions in the transfer portal cu cu almost all those guys uh played and contributed now I think what's going to happen you know they were really worried about LSU so they they played a short uh roster in that game so I think uh tomorrow they're hoping to give a lot of guys a chance that didn't even see the field uh Sunday so help Utah State fans understand what the support is like right now in the Coliseum and what that gain day environment is going to be like after putting together Caleb Williams seasons and Lincoln Riley now settling in and a nice big win in prime time over LSU and everything that's going on what what kind of environment should they expect and is Utah State going to be facing coming up tomorrow well let me just say this about the environment um a lot of USC people were not thrilled when this game got announced uh as having an 8800 PM kickoff but now they're all thrilled because it's so hot here in Los Angeles uh right now that that's like the perfect starting time for a football game and if it had been a day game people would have been dying there so uh it's like triple triple digit heat so uh going to be a perfect atmosphere kickoff wise um you know I think look USC fans are fickle and uh they aren't going to fill the stadium tomorrow you know they'll they'll be a decent crowd and I think I think they're going to come in there and uh you know they're going to be expecting to just roll over Utah State so if Utah State can make some plays early that might be a good way to upset the crowd quiet them down a little bit because they think it's just going to be an easy game so uh they're not like uh you know it's not like going to LSU or Michigan or someplace like that they they're kind of uh Jade it a little bit at times so if they don't see what they like that you know they will uh be vocal about it and they won't be like overwhelmingly loud so they they actually let the performance dictate what they do instead of trying to like fire up the team on their own with their enthusiasm well again LSU last week and then you've got Michigan a conference game and we'll talk about how weird that is to make a game against Michigan a conference game uh but uh and then right smack dab in the middle is Utah State so you know do you anticipate that the focus will be there now obviously USC's severely uh overmatching Utah State in terms of talent and and everything else that goes along with it but could Utah or could USC be lacking a little Focus coming into this game tomorrow uh I definitely think there could be a let down uh tomorrow because there was so much celebrating and uh relief over what happened against LSU and you know the team's pretty confident so then going into Utah State when you spend the whole offseason kind of focusing on LSU I think it's a great time for Utah State to play USC definitely you want to play him right now uh and hope you can kind of lull them into you know a little sense of uh laxness so um I think it's a good time uh especially if they can like do something good early and kind of put USC on their heels a little bit um but like you said you know USC plays Michigan they're going to have a buy the following week after this game but they do have Michigan and I'm sure that game is in some people's minds already um that's going to be like the test even though Michigan is not the same team as a year ago but going to an arbor no matter how good Michigan is you know you're going to be proving to people you know you really belong in the elite conversation if you can win at an arbor so that game is already being looked at a little bit to be honest with you but uh I think that's perfect if you're a Utah State player or coach that's when you want to play a team like USC trying to get them a little cocky and overconfident well Scott we appreciate your time thanks for hanging out with us and uh looking forward to seeing you down there in the Coliseum coming up tomorrow night and hopefully we have a we hopefully we have a decent game to break down appreciate your time as always I recommend that uh you hydrate tomorrow yes I I fully anticipate it thank you there you go Scott wool from inside USC right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone take a break come back uh Hans and I will wrap up the noon hour and then uh hand the rains on over to almma Harrington and ra McBride oh gather around the radio folks H and I are not there to supervise so they could get a little weird coming up from 1 to three this is 975 the KSL Sports Zone h he what it's game week for the cougars cougars and the zone is getting you ready for kickoff it's a huge non-conference Showdown for the Cougars as they hit the road to the Lone Star State for a battle against SMU listen all week long for the best coverage of cougar football your home for the best coverage of cougar football is live on air online and on the KSL Sports s yeah boy this is 975 the KSL Sports Zone [Music] hone the number you have dialed is not available at present please leave your message after the beep yeah trans W League of my own it don't get better no read what I wrote I'm a besteller yeah reach for myson Scott Gerard 975 the KSL Sports Zone wrapping up the noon hour hands you got pregame obligations coming up here in just a moment I've got to hop on a plane so Alma and Mac are going to take over from one to three and gidy up folks it's going to be interesting to say the least so should be a lot of fun and fired up for those guys to take over again from one to3 down at RGS exteriors but uh keys of the game tonight for BYU what do you need to see for BYU to get out of there with the w they've got to stop up the SMU run including the quarterback situation and they've got to make sure they slow down number 82 their tight end th those are two really big things and then they've got to find a way to block this defensive line Scotty I talked about it it's the best position group that SMU is going to put on the field you got Elijah Roberts who's 64 300 lb and he is a pass rush artist off the edge you got Anthony Booker who is built like that nose tackle that Texas had last year he's 64 360 pounds Scotty which means he's closer to he's a Maneater and yeah he he's a Maneater he is uh and he can move at that size he can move and then number 58 who actually doesn't start he's a pass rush specialist his name is Isaiah Smith he's already racked up a couple of sacks this season he 64 250 lbs moves well and then J Jafari Harvey is the starting Bandit so he's always at the line and he's great too he's already racked up a sack and he's got multiple pressures so this defensive line is spectacular the two quarterbacks are very good their tight end is probably a top two round draft pick um in this upcoming NFL draft because he is now eligible for for draft and get ready man buckle up and and like I said this is a big one this this is big for Jay Hill and his defensive staff they've got to figure figure out a way to keep a certain amount of points off the board let me tell you why Scotty so we got to go all the way back to 2019 okay they are 25 and4 in this stadium so I I tweeted out like okay BYU is going to have to overcome this this this this and it's a tough stadium and whatever it's a tough Stadium to win in and by fans it's not a tough Stadium they suck the fans are terrible it's only 30,000 seats there's going to be 8,000 areu fans there it's going to this that and the other and this and that and it's like hold on hold on hold on it doesn't have to be the big house it doesn't have to be rice Eckles it doesn't have to be level Edwards Stadium if a team feels good and comfortable in whatever fan support they've got then it makes it a really difficult place to play they have lost four times in that Stadium since 2019 and here's their four losses Scotty they lost to that Cincinnati team that what did they go undefeated and then represented in the in the college football playoffs they lost to a temple team back in 2019 that was ranked um at the time I think they were ranked like 18th at the time when Temple got him they lost to TSU back in 2021 I think it was and then they had one inexplicable loss in my opinion and it was a Tulsa team back in 2020 I think the co year that's it okay that other than that 25 wins in this Stadium wow yeah they're not messing around they that's a team that's going to be really good and is going to create all kinds of problems for BYU and if BYU gets that win tomorrow then they're looking at three and0 because Wyoming's not as good as we thought you start the season 3 and0 when we thought one and two could be a distinct possibility there we go colani that's what you need to do to start this season out for sure but it all kind of hinges on tonight Alma Coach Ron McBride the fellas in football Friday it's all coming up we'll see you coming up next Monday Scotty and I will be back with you stay up to date Friday with h ssen and Scotty CH presented by Mountainland Supply on7 SP [Music] welcome into H and Scotty H and Scotty are on their way to actually call Gam so I'm Jake hatch filling in for these final two hours on a football Friday but of course we got the two guys that everybody's really here to to actually listen to Coach Ron McBride and Alma Harrington how are you guys we're good good it's good to see you good to be reunited with you back to our producing days when you were producing I was on air coach do you know about he and I our background no for there's a show that called cougar sports that was started years cougar Sports yes coach come on come on dude get right I I had just finished an internship keep these guys in check coach make it all well I had I had I had finished an intership with Utah Jazz and Scotty calls me and says hey I want to start this show you want to be the producer for I'm like sure let's do it so got to work with this guy and Ben kidle for quite a while okay that was a long time ago you know and now look at you now you got three kids you're producing the mornings and you become more of a normal citizen you can say that my my wife would probably disagree though yeah well you know my wife didn't have the best run well we're off to aoling uh but it's of course football Friday so plenty to discuss I let's let's start with the game tonight though is that okay Coach yeah absolutely SMU BYU the Cougars down in Dallas now I was talking to you before we went on you never coached at SMU never were a coaching a game down there in Dallas right right right what but you know a lot about this SMU I do I sure do yeah yeah so it goes back and matter of fact the athletic director at that time was the guy who was the ex athletic director at at Utah at one time M okay and so then uh I was coaching at Arizona uh they went on the uh penal because of the running back mostly running back was getting all the money and uh but he was good too by the way and so we recruited uh Bobby Waters Kevin McKinna uh and a corner okay out of there yeah for those unfamiliar with what happened to SMU after the Pony Express and their great success with with their running backs right CRA James and which was a phenomenal tandem but there was a lot of under the table money being passed around um in in those conferences in general back in the day the Southwest Conference was Notorious for and so they they they they they really is laughing because he knows all about it well you know I've I've had at least four players bought for right that I was recr that were bought right out of my hands so they they ended up getting what is known as the death penalty which they they squashed the program yeah now I was at BYU when this happened and so we also picked up a couple of SMU guys cu the SMU players were allowed to transfer you know without having to sit out and so we picked up a couple of uh you know guys defensive linemen if I recall and then then maybe a couple other players and then you guys got some and so they you know all of those SMU players kind of spread out throughout the country and SMU went from being this this storyed um you know institution to not having a football program and now you got to rebuild and that is not easy but they're they're on the on that path it took them time uh but the team they have right now is is very athletic yeah and the problem that they have is that I watched them the battle Reno game and Reno took it to him for three qus of the game and then finally SMU woke up and decided to play there's this guy named RJ Maryland we're gonna find him the tight end obviously so yeah well yeah he's a he's a he's a horse so they uh so in the fourth quarter and last part of the third quarter they really started playing football and they shut breno down and I think it's a matter of the guys watch the film from the year before for and see that Reno's not very good but they underestimated the fact that this guy did an incredible job of rebuilding the roster yeah and and have some real physical players and they fre about two and a half quarters of that game uh Reno was in charge MH and then all of a sudden they decided to play and then they shut him down but SMU is uh uh very athletic football team uh they'll definitely show up and play against BYU so there won't be like any any kind of wow we can run over these guys or anything like that like that and the league itself is very balanced from the bottom to the top so all there's no bad teams in that League about ACC they just joined yeah yeah no bad teams that leag league and uh in talking to people um BYU has a lot of respect earned a lot of respect in the League last year it's really being tough uh a tough out for anybody and had earned their respect in the league and so everybody has respect for the the BYU program and the toughness in their program uh so it'll be a real interesting game but just a a interesting note about the the three kids from that we got uh this goes back we're talking like the late 80s when it's all went down yeah so so they sent me to the airport to pick them up right okay and so coach Tomy was the head coach he said you go out get those guys and when we pick up recruits from Ariza we never take them the fast way back to the because if you take them the fast way it's all tumble weeds and and and dirt right so you always take them a roundabout way so you're going through nice neighborhoods and that okay so you take so here comes these three guys are getting off the plane and Bobby and Kevin are wearing shorts and a t-shirt when they get off the plane and uh and so the first thing that Bobby says to me hey coach what time do we tea off you know and I'm saying dude hey man this is no vacation this is this is a business trip oh yeah well we just we're going to come out we want to play some golf and I said no I said I said you better straighten up by the time you get to the head coach here because he's going to be really mad at me and then and then the the the corner from uh from SMU he wanted to know where his apartment was hey coach can you show me my apartment I said what do you mean he said well yeah I does an apartment go with the you know with the scholarship I said no they just you get a scholarship and I said said well you guys are probably out and he ended up at LSU yeah and so we got the the other two and the other two guys were were really good players and really good guys I mean Kevin mckenny a great leader uh he was elected Captain he was only there for one spring and one fall wow okay and and uh that's how much respect that he earned in the in the locker room and and Bobby was was a football guy all the way and there they comment to me we never saw any of the money right I said he said yeah didn't yeah we our parents were made too much money so they weren't part of the group that was cashing in yeah we never so they they let me know that they didn't see any of the money and I said well hey I don't want to go into it's not my business a lot of lot of those schools they had the nil collectives long before nil collectives were a thing well what they got the death penalty for is totally okay in this day and AG yeah so about that's true so about about two years ago maybe it was yeah so I'm New Year's Eve right so I'm having uh a dealer at a bar and I'm sitting there with Chip Kelly and his line coach and and we're talking and and Chip says the only thing different now is the money's above the table instead of below the table I said I said so so it's really you know life hasn't changed that much well and that brings up an interesting point I you guys saw it yesterday so that whole settlement to get rid of the antitrust case against NCAA the judge threw it back at the lawyers and said hey you guys need to sit down and figure this out she doesn't want to restrict anybody's ability to to make money Essen meaning collectives even with that Revenue sharing that's going to come into effect they're still going to let the collectives spend as much money as they want to help these kids out so they're going to be making money left right and Center it feels like as an athlete well yeah I mean it's it's a it's an interesting thing you know to be a athletic director in today's college football and oh and uh you know and so so so everybody has a responsibility for where the money's going going okay how much does it cost for a tight end how much does it cost for a quarterback how much it cost for this and then how much do how much are we going to have to pay to get that particular guy so uh it's a it's a interesting thing where the rich get rich get poor you know I mean that's unless they do something and I know that that if I'm an athletic director or I'm in charge of the money I want to make sure that that we have some way some some way to handle this situation there's that's why you're seeing the rise of like general managers in college football and like in these athletic dep departments because they're legitimately you're talking about Coach they're going to say okay our left tackle is worth X number a quarterback is worth X number and guess what it's like an NFL salary cap you're going to have to Dole that out oh yeah there's there's no question and uh you know the interesting thing uh if you watched the Kansas City game last night the kid that played at BYU last year that I absolutely loved when I watched him in practice yeah he played he played his ass off last night excuse my leg you can erase that uhy yeah but I was I was so proud of that kid because uh you know the Chiefs are for real I mean both of those teams were for real yeah you know and it was such a fun game to watch because it was so physical and I tell you what they did everything they could do to take Mahomes out of the game you know hit him on his late hit him on the sidelines undercut him you know they're they didn't care I mean uh it was a it was a really fun game to watch because it was so physical yeah and the the tight end number 80 from uh the the the likely likely yeah I mean that one play he makes down there it's oh my God where's where did this guy come from you know so yeah he was he was uh he was he was interesting but it was uh it was a you know neither team liked each other much no and so it was but to get back to the SM thing um you know I really I think this say U team is very athletic and I think they have you know they can they their skill is better than be1 you skill so we'll just see how it all how it all pans out I think I think this BYU team is is very good on defense uh last week the quarterback up up you know came came to front it looked like a really good player um the concept is good so it's going it's going to be a very good game I would give SMU a little bit of the edge just because they're playing at home would you give them a double digit Edge that's what that's what the line it's been as high as maybe 14 but 10 and a half I think is where the line might be right about now yeah but but uh I see it as being a really close game and I see it going down to the fourth quarter U and just see who's who's the tough who's the toughest guy at the end but but uh SMU their skill guys can make big plays now the interesting point coach is and we had Steve Lansdale on DJ and PK this week and he's the sideline reporter and that Stadium holds I think they said 32,000 I think at Max Capacity but he was lamenting the fact that it's Friday night in Texas and we all know that high school football is King and he talked about that he was actually somewhat concerned that there going to be SMU fans dumping their tickets and cougar fans are going to show up in droves to replace them it could be interesting you know that BYU travels well meaning that they've got people in Dallas that are going to come to that game like L said the Krueger fans if they got a quarter they keep the quarter well and that's the thing coach is last week there were tickets to this game going for count it $1 yeah well exactly yeah so they built a stadium on campus that SMU which is what they needed because uh they were playing in in in the NFL stadium well it was it was the old Cowboy stadium yeah and nobody nobody was there you know I mean it was 15,000 whatever it looked like an empty space but uh taking it back to the campus I think was really good uh you know so it' be interesting to see what kind of crowd they do that they do draw um but SMU were real you know they've got they got they've got a nice team you know no that whole re rebuilding process you know part of that rebuild for for them they took an interesting turn they hired June Jones who we both know University of Hawaii coach you know run and shoot uh type of offense and and my old offensive coordinator from my high school the guy that was was uh Dan Morrison who was was my offensive coordinator at puno was the quarterback's coach for for well offensive coordinator assistant because June Jones runs that entire offense but that didn't seem like it fit for that type of a school you know and they needed to to get back to where they are offensively now yeah uh I still think that was an important part of their rebuild was to at least get back to some winning ways which they did under June Jones um but now I think they're they're poised and now entering the AC ACC they're they're poised to I think kind of reclaim the glory of their past but you know a 30,000 you know plus the stadium is is it's not not a huge Stadium that's pretty that's smaller than you know what rice stadium was if I'm not mistaken coach when when before the expansion was rice right around 30 or 40 it was 40 something I think yeah 39,000 yeah well and that's the thing about this is it it should be an interesting game because you talk about SMU they've uploaded that upgraded their talent base cuz Rett Lashley I think understood what he was going up against as he jumps into the ACC and the funny thing about this is this is their first Power four matchup against a fellow power four team with BYU coming to town there should be a lot of excitement around it I'm just I'm just curious to see what the the fan Dynamic is here how many cougar fans are there and obviously how many of the home faithful are showing up well it'll be uh we'll soon see yeah well according to you know listening to to H and I I know people that are down there that have traveled for this game um that that are going to be at the stadium tonight and you know H's talking about being in the the hotel lobby and a lot of BYU fans there and then some probably traveled in some locals uh that that have you know an affinity or some sort of attachment to BYU so I think BYU will be well represented especially in a situation like this cuz on a Friday night in Texas that's Friday Night Lights yeah that's what that's about it's high school ball yeah and it kicks off an hour before most high school games kick off 7even o00 but right how many of those fans are going to bypass their son cousin brother NE yeah whatever they got in terms of high school football to go out to this one but it it' be an interesting match up I I'm very curious because coach I want your thought on this because these FCS games that's what BYU played last week I know that SMU played Nevada Reno in their first game but they played Houston Christian last week another FCS team and they both blew those teams out of the water so you talk about BYU I want to get both you and Alma's thought on this what do you make of BYU coming off that FCS game can you really get much of a hell on the Cougars well you know I've I've been down there I think four times to watch them practice during training camp during training camp and during the Spring and the fall and uh U the scrimmage I was at I was extremely impressed with the defense okay how Gap efficient they were uh where their eyes were uh what they concentrated on you know and they and I thought that that particular day uh it was primarily uh the defense I thought shined you know and and I had no idea who the quarterback would be because at that time at number three the transfer banan Bohannon he took the majority of the Reps that day okay and so there were four quarterbacks that took reps and and bannan got the majority of the Reps so at that time I said well they this is the guy they want to be the quarterback but then the the the kid from the year before from from RI Riverside City College red yeah redl uh who is a very tough competitor and his his junior college coaches absolutely love the guy you know I mean when he came to to BYU I know I got a call from pen who's the dline coach and he said he said hey BYU is gonna love this kid because he's a gamer and he's tough he's a good leader he's is the whole you know the whole package and so he was pretty average last year well he's Ed four as a starter yeah yeah but but uh he he's just continued to compete and I think the and I think the offensive uh coordinator has more confidence in him than he had in in in the other young man you know and they went with the guy who who they felt the most comfortable with and he produced for them I think when it comes down to making that decision right and you hear all the stuff that comes out coming out you know kind of leaking out of BYU on what that decision looked like and and it really was coming down to it it it wasn't it wasn't a situation where so you know redoff really he separated himself it was more his command of the offense but I think that is is very important yeah when you're going into start the season the guys got the better command of the offense is going to be the guy that you're probably going to go with and Bohanan you know maybe his physical skills or or his his you know abilities are a little bit better but the command of the offense from from Jake was like this guy's ready to go and if you look at at his story speaking of Jake you know he's been a guy that has been fighting you know his entire career from when he came out of high school and then Co hits I mean all these kids that went through the co experience if you Sur survived that like you you come out with a little more perseverance than the average person because well his senior season was taken away from yeah yeah and then then the recruiting right portion of that was taken away from there was like no recruiting going on so there's so many things I think that that lend themselves to building the character of the person that we see you know now Jake his ability out there on the field is is a product of a lot of those things and they were on display in in a very positive way last Saturday against an FCS opponent now the question is okay what can you do against a big four opponent and we we'll see we'll see we're going to learn a lot about think both of these teams right now I I want to flip over we're going to talk about Utah and Baylor coming up next I'm interested to get your thought on this coach because I know you know a lot about Utah as we all know but I want to get your thought on the Bears as well so we'll dig into that momentarily well more in a moment right here on the football Friday on H and Scotty right here battle for the youths as they welcome in Balor to rcle Stadium your home for the best coverage of Utah football is right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is H sson and Scotty G presented by Mountainland Supply on 9975 the KSL Sports Zone [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] wome back to hands and Scotty football Friday with Coach Rob McBride and Alma Harrington I'm Jake hatch sitting in for H and Scotty they are you know doing their thing they're out traveling for ball games this weekend all right we just talked about BYU and SMU and I wanted to dig in obviously to another match up Utah and Baylor okay now go ahead coach okay so I've watched bayor a couple of times okay you know and then I I uh so I guess it was yesterday I I tried to watch them very closely and you know so just going back from their game last week you know Randa now is you know he's a defensive coach and a very good defensive coach very quiet guy not a real vocal guy but just a quiet kind of conservative guy you know very film orientated technique oriented uh very disciplined football coach so he's he's gone you know he knows that he's under the gun okay uh so he's taking over the defense and he's called the defenses uh and they they ba the defense is based on they they give you a lot of movement so they're going to they're going to give you a lot of movement uh they're going to take some chances at times okay uh but they're very sound in their thought process um I think sometimes with the movement they give up gaps and they could create a a big uh you know a a big alley yeah if if if Utah picks up the movement well yep it'll be interesting you watch early to see how they're picking up the movement and and what their steps are from in the offensive line stand you're talking about offensive line most notably obviously because they've got to be able to pick that up they got to be able to pick up the movement yeah and they got to be able to ride to the next level you know and and he'll he'll by down in distance and and everything he'll have ched all the way back probably a couple of years okay and and he'll have a a game plan going going in to uh to take it to take advantage of what Utah does and U so obviously uh Utah is the better of the two teams there's no question and then with Baylor's offensive on the offensive side uh I don't think the quarterback is very good I don't think he's very accurate Daquan Finn yeah he can run he's athletic but he aims the ball I don't think he I don't think he reads coverage particularly well uh I think the I think both tackles are pretty average guys I don't think they're great players I think they're a little a little stiff and uh a little a little soft from from where I see but they got some skill guys that can make plays on the outside so I look at it I don't I don't think and I could be wrong of it but I don't think Baylor can score against Utah I really I think it'll be like I think it'll be a a a a defensive game okay and I look at it being 16- six or 24 to six or in that that area but I don't I don't see where B what they have in their offensive Arsenal where they can score a lot of a lot of points against a good defense well and I guess I'll get your thought on this almma is Utah played Baylor last year and it was a ended up being a pretty close game down to the wire there Nate Johnson obviously rallied the troops late in that one there's change obviously new offensive coordinator for bayy you talk about Coach talk about Aranda taking over the defense how much confidence you think Utah can take from that last year knowing that hey we got by these guys but they shouldn't be I guess as good coming up here to rcle State yeah not only that you got by them last year at their place and you got by them last year without Cam Rising without Kei you you have so many more weapons this year now your run game is still needs to be I I think solidified speaking of the University of Utah and and possibly what you're talking about you take advantage of the the activity and the and the the shifting that happens with their defense and you catch them and a seam turns into a gap turns into an alley um and you have an opportunity to to maybe break some plays there but I think offensively this is a far better team than the team that went down to to Baylor last year well and absolutely yeah it's nothing against what Utah had last year but they they they found a way and you add yeah you add the cam Rising the Brant keithy equation dejon Stanley last week F coach was Lights Out The Freshman is it freshman running back of Utah sophomore I don't remember what which which guy Stanley Stanley yeah yeah he's a he's a speed guy yeah well I'm just saying you you you talk about them leaving maybe some gaps open as we yeah so he was get used to this is awesome I love it well yeah I thought Lloyd is in the background like alert alert phone is blown up hey hey you got to realize I can't hear anything it's okay it's okay Coach hey it's awesome oh man hey it's pretty embarrassing you know like well it actually kind of fit because like it's like red alert for Baylor like donon Stanley if you leave a Gap open he's going red alert he's going to's so he has a sophomore he's sophomore but he looks like a guy that if you talk about them leaving gaps open and maybe allowing an alley he'll exploit that all day well the thing that concerns me is Utah's kind of made up their mind that they're going to play all four yeah yeah tail backs okay so each one gives you something a little different but when you get you know running backs like to feel the game you know it's a rhythm position yeah in other words somebody here somebody here would know you give you give the you give the horse enough you know enough hay he's going to he's going to eventually do something big but but they've and they're all four of those those tailbacks are good players and they all have a different set you know the the Mitchell kid is a downhill crease Runner uh the the one kid that's been there for three or four years is the best leader Bernard Bernard knows the offense the best and and and he's the leader on their team uh the Stanley kid is a speed guy you know so they've got they've got four legitimate guys and then the the kid from Alabama you know is what I call a bouncer you know he hits it and bounces and bounces and hits it and bounces he's a bouncer so so each one does something different you know so you got a bouncer you got a speed guy you got a crease guy you know and then you got a leader guy so he got four and all four of them have talent and all four add to what you know they're all really good players and they all they all fit part of the scheme and so we'll see how how you know as soon as it backfires a little bit then you're going to see go down it's it's so hard to maintain morale in a room when you have that situation cuz there's going to be a guy that's going to break a couple of nice plays and then it's going to be his turn to come out yeah and he he'll get frustrated and then the the way things work these days he's got 30 people in his ear that are saying oh you should be the guy getting 20 carries and then then now that guy gets a little disgruntled so you got to be that there's a whole management technique to be able to try to handle that but you take the risk that that it could go south and and and then all of a now you got you know guys that are bickering instead of you know ideally you got running backs that everybody is next to the coach waiting for their turn to go in but they're watching and then the running back comes off and and and they you know the guy that was on the sideline says hey this is what I saw next time you're out there make sure you watch that linebacker you know and now all of a sudden the guy comes off and nobody's talking to him right be you run that risk and and and you might be better off just saying okay these are the two guys that are going get rotations yeah and these are the two guys are going to play the other two guys are just that you know if if somebody gets hurt then then you earn it in practice and and then maybe you you get into that Twan rotation well we years ago we had a boycott at at at at Long Beach State right we had four tailbacks and uh and so they decided you know and so one guy was getting all reps right and and so and there were three guys that weren't getting any reps and so they decided that you know we need to boycott this because this is this is this unfair so they wrote all our demands on a on on on the the deal of the bathroom when you the toil toilet paper so they gave all the demands to the head coach right and so her bles was the the number one tailback he was leading country in offense right yeah and so the first day none of the African-American players showed up to practice nobody just all white guys right so I sitting there and and we're getting ready we're taking a trip to Hawaii that week right and so then so herb herb didn't show up either right and then herb comes to me he says what what's the problem I said well the three guys are playing behind you they want reps they want to take my reps I said yeah they want to take my yeah they want to take your reps because they think they're better than you he said I'm not giving up my rest I said well then show up to practice so he shows up to practice and the other three guys are not there right so so then I told the others I said well go so well yeah you're you're you're so-called boycotting the boycott the boycott lasted for a day right and uh but it was it was uh but yeah I thought her the other CS they want they want if you get 10 reps they want 10 reps and no no man that ain't happening jeez and that's not how it works no right it's just not how it works no that your ones are going to get the majority of the Reps the twos will get a few reps number the three will will come in when you know and I know this role very well will come in when when everybody else doesn't want to run the play yeah yeah but uh uh it was it was pretty interesting but but well it should be an interesting matchup because like you said Baylor's got a lot of questions around them but this is Utah team that you can tell this team's focused they got they got a goal in mind and they're not letting anything get in the way it feels like yeah so it'll be you know Baylor will come in here ready to play and they'll have a really uh defensively they'll have a really good game plan okay and U but the difference is Cam Rising understands pre snap read he understands where he's going with the football there's no hesitation if you watch him you know just he knows where he's going he knows what he's doing with the ball he's a very the only thing you worry about is he takes some unnecessary chances yeah and the unnecessary chances could get him could get him hurt well the coaches keep talking about the fact that they want him like hook slide they want to get well he does he doesn't know how to hook like I it's just not in his DNA well well you know I still go back to thec game a few years ago yeah and I the crease was so small that he hit but he hit that crease on on his own read inside or whatever it was and I'm telling you what I'm sitting there in the endzone watching him and the crease was small but he hit it square and the crease was small but he hit it and he was you know his shoulders were turned his helmet was down and he was driving and and he and he broke the crease you know but there were a lot of people sitting in that grease you know yeah and U these guys now I'll tell you one thing Baylor will do well all the Zone read stuff they'll the backside in will do exactly what he's supposed to do okay and and believe me they'll if they can lay some hits on this guy they will well I know Utah's coaches are very concerned with keeping him healthy so and then they'll they'll have they'll have a couple of guys be so iranda will figure out the protection scheme okay and then he'll have blitzes that take advantage of the protection scheme so he'll have he'll always have a guy theoretically that they can't pick up okay and so he he understands the numbers game he understands how to beat protections and so he's a he's very he's very Smart in that area and then he'll run his slant and angles which are his it looks like they're more of a lateral slant team than they are a penetrating slant team but but he'll make sure they're in the right gaps at the right time and so it'll be interesting to see how Jim Harding's group does and that'll be the key if they if they pick everything up and made the increase then the game could be you know know could be I think this is the other problem with having four tail backs there's going to be one of those guys that is a liability on on pass protection well yeah because they're going to they're going to they're they're going to Green Blitz they're going to do things where where they got they're going to do things where they got one guy that they that they can't pick up in the protection and that back's got to be able to well and the back the back is usually a dual read guy you know A to B to C sure and so they'll they'll maybe bring a guy way opposite the formation got it okay and then and then the back has to be able to identify yeah you know and uh so yeah it'll be interesting so if you see some guys loose uhhuh you're you going to know that they're not they're not counting correctly postgame show immediately following the game your home for the best coverage of Utah football is live on air online and on the KSL Sports app this is 975 the KSL Sports Z [Music] welcome back to a football Friday here on Hansen Scotty Coach Ron McBride Alma Harrington alongside myself Jak hatch and uh Alma and Coach uh I know we got to get back out to a break here pretty quick I want to get a quick thought on high school football from both of you because I know that Mac you're obviously very engross with itma you're calling games uh I was talking with DJ earlier today we were talking after our Show wrapped up DJ and PK and he talked about the fact he was watching the game you were calling last night he said the quarterback play in this state has elevated to a crazy level he feels like and DJ you know he's been engrossed with the high school football scene here forever and I agreed with him so I just wanted a quick thought from both of you on just the overall I guess boost of what we've seen High School football-wise especially the quarterback position well because of the the amount of training now that's available because most of these these good quarterbacks soon as their their football season's over they go into into individual training yeah specialized training specialized training and and and that's not just in Utah but it's California is another big one at you know with these guys training people and they do a really good job with these kids and uh improving their mechanics their reads uh and and generally if you have let's say you got a you got a good program like Lehi or or Corner Canyon Corner Canyon and the Corner Canyon coach has a system that he's that he's had for since he was at Jordan High School care yeah care and and car is really really uh does a good job with the system and the training you know and the kids then the kids are all he said he hasn't had a bad quarterback yet yeah you know he got kasuga now came up from from tinw and and uh and we we're actually calling that game tonight um uh Corner Canyon versus Farmington but to your point there's a lot of training out there um and so all these kids as soon as they're identified as a talent you know they might start with some local camps we were just doing the uh Spanish Fork last night so Dustin Smith that Elite right they got QB Elite um and so there's and his his kid McKay Smith is is a is a really nice quarterback too yeah there but there's a lot of talent here and they get good development uh funny story talking with uh with Ed Larson over at Lehigh he's like cuz his quarterback's committed to Appalachian State right and he's like man these guys they go down to California they come back and and it's like the these California guys are teaching them all the newest stuff and it's like they come back it's like you got to remember those guys those NFL quarterbacks their receivers are running 4 340s and 444s like my guys got to be able to sit in the pocket and you can't just you know get it out of there real quick it's like you got sometime you got to wait for things to develop so it's a little different and there's an adjustment to be made for those guys coming back from those camps but still the development I think is extremely good oh yeah just footwork release angles you know all the all the little things you know well there have been a lot of people for a lot of years that thought that quarterback play was holding back the high school football in the state but it feels like it's yeah not anymore suga's already got over a thousand yards you know in you know three four games this year yeah well the whole the the whole system is better because you got much better much better players because you got more people in the state and the Little League programs are really good and so it's it's uh U and particularly in certain areas you know where where you have the population where you have the numbers you know Absol and then the good if you got a really good player he he he he's going to end up at one of the well well that's another story for another day coach wow hey hey I already hey believe me I know the process I'm sure you do we'll dive back to that's not hey that's that's a that's a we'll come back to that topic we'll come back to that topic we'll revisit it I every everybody wants to avoid hey any any controversial subject okay well let's avoid move on all right more in a moment on football Friday right here at 975 the KSL Sports Zone your home for the best college football coverage in Utah is on the KSL Sports s the agies hit the road to Southern California for a battle against USC your home for all the play-by-play coverage of Aggie football is right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is H sson and Scotty je ton wealth will be live in studio with hands and Scotty Monday from noon to 3 to help you with your retirement plan uh tune in or visit retire ton.com to learn more all right Jake hatch almma Harrington Coach Ron McBride hanging out on a football Friday uh coach we started off football Friday talking about BYU and SMU tonight I wanted to I wanted to go back to that for a moment here uh big opportunity for both of these programs early on in the season because SMU is 2-0 they beat Nevada they beat Houston Christian but I think there's a lot of questions around that program and obviously BYU from last season coming off a five and seven record and a five-game losing streak there a lot of questions about if this team was going to be able to bounce back so it feels like tonight is I know that the second game of the season for a program it's hard to say it's a it's a defining game of the season but it feels like in some ways this could kind of set the tenor for what BYU season could be well I you know I think it's important that that they win you I mean you know obviously it's it's it's for the legitimacy of the program and fact it's on the road it's it's a good team a team that has a good reputation of good players and so I I think it's it's very important that that they come out of there with success in they're playing on the road uh so it'll be it'll be an important game it's not a a it's it's not like an end of wall thing but it's an important game because you your credibility you know like I know a big ESPN game tonight yeah well it's one of the few games that's on TV guess what everybody in the country that's playing games tomorrow they're going to watch these guys play I agreed and I I think that that you I look at this game I look at the first three games as being critical sure you know the obviously you want to beat the FCS team can you beat SMU you I think one of the few games that you favored is the Wyoming Game if you can go 3 and 0 or even 2- one then then you know now you you set yourself up for you know a chance to have some momentum and some I hate to use this word but hope going into the regular season that you're going to be Bowl eligible right yeah if you go one and two that'd be bad we got some problems yeah right well here LMA that word hope is there a little bit of a stretch right but if when you're coming off of are you saying that there's there's no hope no I'm saying that I don't look at football as a hope hope the saying hope hope is not a strategy well that's my that was my dad's statement to me all growing up is Jake hope is not a strategy so well I I certainly hope will show up you know yeah you hope whether you do or you don't yeah yeah so throwing up the hope for if you come out of the first three games and it's like okay we got four four games and we're both eligible three games and we're both eligible well you take momentum you yeah you come but you come out of it one and two and it's like oh five games man I'm looking at the schedule like oh and the only win is an FCS game that's not going to have a lot of people thinking so this to me is bigger than the Wildman game this to me is is a critical game this is a hope game I hope I mean oh my God hey hey guys I hope we can get on the and I I hope I hope when we get there everybody this is why I hesitated to use the word you heard me say you didn't I don't know because I knew this is where was going to go this is hey man I know I'm going to be the high school game it's like hey you got some hope come on man hey hey this is this is the cougar right here with hope hey you know I mean come on Alma well we need to return to the greatness of the Buu the by there you go now you're talking bro hey hey if hey if if BYU is your team then there's you got to have more than hope you have confidence yes hey our boys are ready you know we're ready to strike and here you are I hope we show up that was that was the horrible where did you get that that word oh I hope I hope we convert a third down well but coach it's you make a good point is you you want to build momentum you want to build confidence yeah yeah yeah and that that obviously starts with a game like tonight because if you can go to a program like SMU who they're going to be supremely motivated because they want to knock off BYU oh there's no question there no question but if you can go if you can go and pull this off I think it's going to cause some people to say okay maybe BYU's got a little more juice than they thought coming in season let's let's let's go down the SMU get off the plane and let's kick their butt get back on the plane and come home that's all that's going to be the mentality right yeah yeah that mentality okay and we win the physical battle you know we don't hope to win it we do win it I mean I mean come onma man this didn't go the way I thought it was going to go hey you just hey you just open a big door right there bro but I think areu coming off this this FCS win okay I hope so thanks Bronco there you go Bronco okay you know there there have been plenty of years when you're had an FCS opponent and maybe you won but you didn't win convincingly sure this Saturday was convincing enough yeah that you felt like and and redl played convincing enough that you come out of there and you're like all right okay I feel good about coming out of there we've come out off of FCS games where the after the first game he like oh man I'm just like I wish we had performed better they performed very well yeah look at last year against Sam Houston say I know Sam Houston was technically an FBS team but it was their first game coming up from the FCS level you go back to 2017 in the Portland State game remember they were like oh we're going to be just fine what happened it was a 4-9 season so you're right the the fact that they they went out and blew the doors off of the Southern Illinois team I think should make you think hey there's a better opportunity this season I and and wasn't just that it's you know being able to watch the offensive line at the end look really good um and you're you know there were a lot of questions about LJ whether or not you know you know we hadn't really seen him you know we've seen little leaks that came out but just like and and so you weren't sure if they were really managing his contact or were they they just really he was he was injured and and they didn't want him getting hit and it turns out that I think they' managed very well his contact in Fall Camp which can be difficult to do because you want to balance that out with a little little bit of contact but the things that I had question marks on I felt like okay yeah this this team looks good hope that helps thanks it's kind of like kind of guy kind of like a guy covering up you know what I mean I mean he's he's like he's like he's backpedaling you know beep beep beep back track back yeah well about that boy can you scrub like the first three minutes of of this segment no because the tile this segment I hope s is not listening the title is Hope is not a strategy for BYU hope is not a strategy oh my God almma that's coach you know that's not what I meant wait a minute well I didn't say it you did you sound like PK all of a sudden this is great this is what this okay this is what happens I so I produced DJ and P on a daily basis I've done it for 10 years this is what happens DJ will say something and PK latches on to it and refuses to let go well I'm I'm letting the Hope card go okay good good idea I'm getting I'm getting back to the reality okay the reality is this is a really good BYU football team okay very solid their their technique is really good they're coached extremely well and they will play very good game and uh the only the biggest concern I would have is just the skill level of SMU they're skilled players well and so coach a Gary Anderson you know coach a really well oh yeah he's got a big BYU thing across which is by the way I'm down there practice all the time and him walking across in BYU gear is still weird to me to this day oh it's very weird you know because you know hey I had a first time I went down there and I and I I see this guy with this huge big over Y what it looked like looked like three BYU's on his shirt right I'm thinking who's that dude it looks like Gary I said no I couldn't be here behold that's like the first time I saw CI booh in in all BYU GE I think we were at a Lehi game I like and he had the royal blue like satin jacket on I was like all right here we go yeah and so the point I'm trying to make talking to co cuz he's down there helping col he's coaching up the D line the one thing I had a massive concern with Coach was the D line coming off of last year cuz they essentially brought the same guys back and that was a d line that got absolutely run over last year and I'm like okay can you guys really you know what are you doing here you didn't really upgrade it well for one game they held up pretty well all things considered with the exception of the quar r but they're they're technically very sound well and that's what Gary and Chad kaaha as Chad K as most people call him he's done a very good job coaching these guys up they that defensive line Looks far more um Tech technically sound they know where they're supposed to be what they're supposed to do exactly and they you know uh I would say just in watching them in practice they're the the coaches are very positive with them uh the players are very responsive and and and really uh pay attention to the details of what they want to do and the coaches are in are are really involved but and because they're totally involved you know the players are totally involved so they don't you know they got really good uh sound yeah coaching you know in other words guys who who've a lot of experience of doing a lot of good things and and uh so that and the players really believe in their coaches and and it's obvious when you watch them practice so so I think that I think that they're going to be a tough out for anybody and then the game becomes psychological yeah you know what do you do when you when you when you have a trip you know when you lose to somebody you shouldn't lose to you know how do you react to it and it's and it's just it's extremely extremely hard you know you take a look look at uh uh Florida A&M you know they go down and get they get beat by a team they should they should be about Florida state Florida State yeah so he watch them there Georgia Tech Georgia Tech Boston and so then they come back the next week and they have a hangover because they're all they're all thinking about the first game and thinking and everybody is on their back you know you guys should and that's all they're talking about is is Georgia Tech and they forgot that they had another game Boston College comes and Boston College just kicked them right right out of the stadium their own stadium and all the people left you know well the crowd was chanting for backup quarterback and they all started leaving yeah you're right yeah so the third quarter you you look at people they couldn't get out of there fast enough to get in their cars and get out of the get out of there and and so the poor the poor coach you know who's a year ago he was like a Supreme Being and now he's he's one game away from getting fired you know I mean I mean it's it it just you know the psychological part of the game mhm and what these what the players think and what the coaches think you know a lot of times you lose a game like that and that's all they want to talk about yeah you know they're in the film ah should never lose to these guys you never and then the players pretty soon they're going to mind oh we're not that good well maybe we are then try to get them ready to play the next game yeah you know after that game you know and then and then they lose to Boston College I mean that's like like the kiss of death you know I mean so it's a it so the psychology of the whole thing and what the players think you know it's a people business yes you know so the idea is to manage the people properly and then get them in the right frame of mind so that you can get the best effort you can out of your out of your players no doubt about that more in a moment football Friday rolls on momentarily right here at 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is Jake Scott and Ben Anderson I guess he going to be really curious what BYU's system looks like are they going to be five out fast and shoot a lot of Threes which is what Mark pope did a lot of last year or are they going to try and slow it down a little I don't see them doing that the question now honestly is going to be can Kevin young coach can he develop these young players quickly to get production on the floor I mean that's why you hire an NBA assistant right the swaying power of being able to get Kevin Durant on the phone yeah but if you be like let's get Kevin Durant he's just going to he's going to tell you what he thought or how he felt about playing for me and it's I mean it's Joel embiid right he worked with Joel Deon Booker obviously like there's a lot of those guys yeah you can really drop a lot of that power that's going to help them recruit and then the question for Kevin young your point is can you win and then can you also put those guys in the NBA I'm so fascinated to see how this turn for BYU basketball turns out here Jake Scott and Ben Anderson every day from 10 to new on 975d KSL Sports Zone your home for the best college football coverage in Utah is on the KSL Sports s it's a Saturday matina battle for the youths as they welcome in Baylor to rcle Stadium your home for the best coverage of Utah football is right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is H Suson and Scotty gen presented by Mountainland Supply on 9 975 the KSL Sports C hopes for living shooting for the stars I couldn't make a killing didn't have a time but I always had a vision [Music] always welcome back to the to hen Scotty here 975 the KL Sports on a football Friday Coach Ron McBride as well as Alma Harrington breaking down all things football uh do want to remind you guys about the Utah RV Show uh it is taking place at uh September 12th to the 15th at the Mountain America Expo Center see the newest models as well as the best remaining inventory for this year uh visit KSL sports.com contest and ENT win a family for pack of tickets right now all right uh Alma coach McBride I wanted to revisit conversation we had earlier about Utah and Baylor and Coach you talked about Dave Randa the head coach of the Baylor Bears uh he's coaching the defense now he's taking over that uh stepping in because I think he understands he you know what got to do his part to hopefully keep his job there in Waco right you talk about the fact you think they're this could be a defensive slugfest between these two programs because it appears on paper that these two defenses might be the the strengths of these respective teams and that that's nothing against cam Rising Brant keithy and the Utah offense well let's let's let's put it uh very simply okay Utah's going into a new league yeah and all of a sudden they're the favorite to win the new leag MH now I'm the other eight members or nine members of what that have been in that League yeah I don't like the new guy in the block all of a sudden coming in and saying hey I'm I'm the king here yeah move aside we're yeah move aside we're com hey and so every head coach in that League that's been in the league hey Utah has a big X on their chest yeah okay and whoever whoever beats them yeah and the other coach hey way to go dude you know I mean I mean that they and so you know that's you don't want to be the king fish you you like to be just a fish a good fish you know but you don't want to be the king all of a sudden you go oh yeah well Utah's going to take over the league you know the rest of us are garbage you know so I'm telling you what they they've got a big X on their chest and there are a lot of people there's probably three or four teams in a league that can win the league you know Oklahoma State Kansas State Kansas uh all appear to have really really good football teams and you got to look at okay there's a trap game game coming up when Arizona has a buy the week before they play Utah yeah they do so you know depend how healthy they are they could they could be a problem well we saw taroa McMillan against New Mexico like 300 yards receiving he was what they forgot to cover it I know I was like I was like Hey Bronco there's this guy wear in the number four find him well Broncos Broncos running running his ABC defense right yeah but the see part of it forgot to cover the guy because because I'm watching TV and I'm they got him out here split out here where's the where's the corner yeah it was well he didn't get over there where's the guy you need to double that guy because yeah and all of a sudden he's running out there he's free you know he averaged 30 yards per reception on the game yeah it it was it was like it was it was crazy you know I mean so it look you know Broncos defense early looked looked good late looked bad you know and he and he looked he didn't look good he looked he looked uh because you know they they blew the game the week before against Montana State and where they had a big lead the game they should have won 17-point lead and they s further away yeah yeah and then they get into this game and they're they're you know they're putting the idea was he's going to put pressure on this quarterback and and they they picked up the movement pretty well and and you give this guy a little space you know and uh you know the quarterback which is uh which is by the way very good player Noah faf Noah faf that's Steve faf's nephew and U he's a he's a he's a pretty thing to watch but but to your point Arizona is not consider maybe to be one of the favorites to win the conference but they're good enough that if you overlook them they can get you yeah yeah I think you know to to coach's Point all the newcomers that are coming in right now and you probably dealt with this with with you know your role on lock on cougars yeah you know BYU is feeling so good about being in the Big 12 you're watching the Pack 12 just dissolved and it's like oh is Ling what's going on right now 10 you know Conference of Champions what you know what are you going to do with your stickers on the back of your car now right there some there was some of that yes and then all of a sudden they're they're in the same conference and maybe getting better treatment and you know they're coming in with some Thunder and it's like for BYU fan I think you have to balance it and recognize that this is the best thing for for the state yeah of Utah it's a good thing for the league a it's it's a good thing for the conference and it's a good thing for both of you know BYU and Utah and you have to be able to understand that and recognize that that that's the best thing that could happen is for the two teams to be back in the same conference once once once again at the same time you know we're going back to now the Mountain West and The Wack days of well we want to we want to dominate this this you know this rivalry I was watching uh on YouTube there's a you know something about how the the two schools in Utah broke the college football system I know you ever ever saw it but you know a great highlight on you and your time coach changing the the the the the landscape of college football in our state when you came in took over the University of Utah and all of a sudden kind of leveled the playing field and to get if we could get back to to that between BYU and Utah the Rivalry within the conference that's that's nothing but good for this state yeah so it it's going to be uh u a lot of fun in a few weeks when BYU uh comes into rice Echo Stadium to play that it should be that should be interesting and U you know it's it's uh you know I can go back I don't know what it is 30 years or whatever and BYU treated us like we were like we were their stepchild you know they would they would come into our Stadium they'd walk around like they owned it they're like the you know Poppycocks or whatever you call them you peock peock peock peacocks and and and and we were kind of the wishers you know what was that word you using the hope I don't remember I don't remember what I said we had we had the Hope was a strategy we we had the Hope yeah we were hoping we were hoping that the BYU you know would mess up and we you know well you changed all of that coach you changed all that yeah we we wanted the hope to go to reality and it did yeah and but you guys had a run there where so in the whack obviously you guys made the transition to the Mountain West together you guys remained dominant forces that played off one another throughout all that time so it it was great because we would play BYU the last game of the year and then and and and then it was a game you know in other words they had good players we had good players okay who was going to who was going to win the fourth quarter and who was going to make certain plays because the teams were very parallel you know as far as in ability yeah and just a matter who made who made the plays late and it was yeah just just think what it would be like what it will be like cuz I anticipate this will happen at some point maybe not this year but in the next five let's say five six years that are you wishing or what no that that you've got a conference that you've got a conference you know Championship birth on the line yeah what it certainly certainly could be a reality right you know because um I think I like I like I do like BYU's team uhhuh you know I think I I think they're very solid and I think they're very well coached and I think they have a good group of players I really like I think Utah has the their their level is you know I mean the the it's like when you watch teams come out of a locker room you say oh my God that's a goodlook group of guys you know it was like it it was like the first time we went down to play Michigan the guy from Notre Dame calls me he says whatever you do don't watch them coming out of the tunnel they'll scare you to death yeah I said he said because they all look they don't play like they look and he was right they look coming out of the tunnel I mean my God maybe we ought to get on the plane and go home and let's right now hey give me hey give us the check you know and and we'll just it and then all a sudden gab starts said these guys are not that yeah we were very different well we would get off the and somebody on a way game it's like we had a certain number of guys like you guys get off first and know think everybody looks like you guys then we'd have you know our guys like a Chuck Cutler coming off the bus it looks like a you know a very pedestrian kid but was a great player but but you know it certainly wasn't going to wow you in the eyeball test it would fail completely the I can remember the one time you guys lost a UTEP or somebody and I used to always listen to LEL show after and I was like was on that team we lost at UT after the national championship after yeah and so that's 855 yeah so I can remember listen the show I'm laughing because because because these people are calling in L you need to wake up and smell the coffee you know I'm going and I'm I'm just I'm I'm just you're having the time to you oh my God I'm thinking oh man Ed Lille is so good yeah so gracious on those shows you know but he he was always the same oh yeah well we didn't make that play but you know it's yeah we got next week we'll be okay man we got to hit a break but Norm CH joined djm PK for about a three or four year period every week during the football season he told us about that UTEP game oh man I got some horrible multiple UT you said multiple UTEP coaches told them years after the fact yeah we had your headsets tapped we knew exactly what you were calling they well they probably did that's they admitted it we we had tapped into your guys' head interception in that game that that explains a lot well Wyoming did the same thing yeah so but Norman said that those coach like yeah we tapped into your system it was a big win for us but we cheated essentially we they admitted it oh yeah absolutely but you're right to the point though these coach the coach well coach Edwards had to be like you know hey it'll be but the fan base not so happy yeah I mean you know they're they're like like squirrels looking for them now well that that's the thing with this big 12 is with these two programs guess what well I'm tell you what there's going to be there's going to be a lot of upsets yeah it it's like now now Utah is going to get beat by somebody not not so good or somebody that that they're going to be favored by 10 points but then they're going to probably beat somebody that that maybe correct maybe they shouldn't beat but you're not going to go through this league undefeated no I don't I don't believe and and it depends where you where you going to play the team what kind of injuries you have yeah what psychologic but you're not going to be this dominant yeah Force you know the league is pretty balanced yeah and Utah has very good players BYU has good players I don't think they're as good as Utah right now but you never know you know because injuries psychologically where you are who you played the week before you know where your mindset is there there's a lot of things that go into it all right uh we will get our final say coming up I do want to take a minute we need to talk about some Utah State and USC we have talk we'll talk about that next I do want to remind you guys to make sure you join H and Scotty at Tim Nan Southtown it's Wednesday from 1: to 3 for the cougar preview show that's at 11155 South Jordan Gateway in South Jordan think hanging out um we missed this almma yeah we just got a tweet sent in from Ute Jazz you he said this hatch aemma you guys not notice the song that Lloyd dropped into that intro was High Hopes haa expert level production Lloyd so Lloyd you snuck it by us well done sir DJ lyd yeah hi hopes hey there you go so Lloyd props to you my man oh man that was a forgettable segment oh well hey we're not going back to it okay all right uh before we go here I do want to take a moment and talk about Utah State and USC tomorrow night uh SC looked the part against LSU best the best SC defense I've seen in eight years okay they have real the front guys are real the linebackers are real the backend guys are real it's a real defense well it seems like this defensive coordinator is well worth the money they spent to bring him over from I I think the the money is well spent is in the D line good point yes yeah and the dline you know that so first of all LSU's offensive line is a veteran group both tackles are are supposed to be in the top three rounds and theyve got their their what Lloyd what's the proper word kicked yeah they they got their rear ends handed they got their rear ends hand to it without swearing yes it's a PL way you and and and LSU was the you look at the closeups of of the head coach at LS you he was in shock Brian Kelly Brian Kelly they kept doing close-ups on him and he look and they're looking at his face and he it is like what's happening here yeah no he he did look confused he well he looked like he said this is not the game plan you know I I actually felt bad for him you know and uh but not too bad yeah what's what's the word on there on on petus is he back or they is Bryson Barnes getting the start I'm anticipating it being Barnes yeah but I he looked good he he did look and he by the way he's got experience playing in the Coliseum and winning yeah and this is this is what he does right is he takes over for an injured starting quarterback and comes out and looks good but I I think Utah State played really well last week yeah but they have no chance against this SC team you know how I really liked was the kid from Roy Curry swi yeah I think his name is yeah man he's got some great speed um and he looked really good uh Royals is a great receiver for but again they're going up against the some competition here that is you know if if if FC plays like they played last week it'll be very difficult but you never know you know those guys are you know typically they're a little bit uh cocky yeah and so they W they watch this ah we're playing Utah State you know and and they forget to forget to show up you know they forget to get off the bus and they think just because they had this one really good game USC yeah we USC the those people are SC people drive me nuts cuz they're so entitled they live up to this the moniker University of spoiled children they live yeah absolutely cuz my son-in-law go there for eight years and I tell you what it was a pain for me just to go down there and and you know because they were always uh just you know like there a lot of entitlement down there a lot of entitlement can I get a quick thought from you coach cuz Nate drying got got a really tough job here he's a young coach said he's the interm coach up there Utah state do you know much about him what's your feel on him as a coach you know uh I don't have a great feel for him because I don't know him you know and he's fairly he's what 33 years old fairly fairly new and obviously that that's the person the athletic director liked you know and uh and you know he's done it you know this a right now they you know they have so many just minuses outside of the program that that U that you know they they played well last week hope they play well this week you know and and wish them you know wish them the best but and I'll just say this too about about Utah State they they they play a lot of money games right just part of what they it's an I think it's an important recruiting tool because I can look back at my college football career and the the best part of it was travel to a place like a USC or Washington or you know the where you get to go and play in some of the the great cathedrals of college football and so however it shakes out this ends up being a great experience for for that team speaking of Utah State and the players because they get the opportunity it's like you can always tell your kids yeah I played at the Coliseum it's like you see that with the stadium that they're playing in right now I played there yeah you know that kind of thing they that's an important part of of college football not everybody's going to be in a big four conference and and I don't know how long this lasts before it gets you know to the point where we're not playing any money games anymore but I think this is still an important part of of what you know Utah state does so they've got they've got USC and Utah back to back yes which is which is which is not great you know for but yeah they're get they're get good paychecks or whatever but but it's uh uh it's a that's a tough that's a tough ask yes you know and so we'll just see how you know and you know early which SC team showed up so if they look a little like like oh yeah we got these guys you know it'll be it'll be a game yeah but if they show up show up like they did against LSU it'll be it'll be tough because they know physically they'll they should be able to to dominate the game but uh only time only time we tell was see which one which one got off the bus you know it's so all right but U I do like what they did what they did a week ago and I think it was a very good football game for them and U they they played extremely well it'll be a late night 9:00 Mountain Time kick yeah I thought it was a 9:00 a.m. so I'm looking I said you're a you thought St playing at 9:00 a.m. no 900 p.m. then somebody else no it's 900 p.m. I said oh it's midnight then exactly so yeah so we'll see how that goes for the a all right LMA Mac thanks for letting me hang out with you too and I wish Larry Kimbell get well fast and U I hope my hope my son's having a pleasant day and U we got a lot of Hope for a limma we do and everything's good go talk to me when we're three and old yeah filled with hope all right hey go cookers there we go all right be JJ and Alex coming up next
