however Ronald kumman has not selected Steven bervine for the Netherlands he questioned his ambition he said if you're 26 the most important ambition needs to be a sporting one not a financial one his story with the Dutch national team is closed he was then asked that he talked to you about it and Kuman said no he probably knows what I would have said this is obviously to do with bervine moving to Saudi Arabia to play his football or Bergin's had his response saying I don't even want to play for this manager anymore I won't play for someone who portrays me like Keyon in the media he could have called me heard my side of the story how can he say such things without talking to me has he got a point Checker um yeah and and and listen I I I don't get this perspective to to the question to to Ronald kumman did Berne call Ronald kumman and talk to him about it I never called a single one of my national team managers ever to ask about the proposed move not once I I made what I felt I made moves that I felt was right for me for my career for my family whatever it is not once they were calling you for help what are you doing no but I'm just yeah I I you know I never called you know um anyone BR Sinclair what do you think I'm thinking about this no no I I made I made a decision based on what I thought was right for me and and berine did that for for himself now the the question I guess you could put it to Ronald kman is if the Saudi national team calls and says listen we'll pay you 50 times what the Dutch national team is paying you to manage will you come manage us let's see what Ronald keman does for his career now once you start talking about numbers and again it's a very personal decision for berine but once you start putting that those kinds of numbers on the tables I don't care who you are your head is going to get turned I don't care how high your Ambitions are your head is going to get turned and given where buwan was he felt well this was right for me I'm not sure what Ronald kumman has to do with that decision it looks as though you might agree with kumman Frank I would I I don't know who say that but I I have an idea but would say 100% agree with ronal kumman you know when you play when you go to play for Saudi Arabia and you are 26 years old yes the only thing you think about it's money is not sport that's for sure otherwise you will try to play in Bundesliga Premier League Lia AZ or or leagan and the and the the the Syria that's what you dream about um it's not about going to Saudi Arabia yeah you know some players they are able to play in Saudi Arabia and be good with the national team but that's so few of them maybe Angolo keante but we can see it's not the same it's not the Ango that we saw before but it's still very very good but when you decide to go to a lower um level you have to accept the fact that the coach thinks that you're not ready you're not thinking high you're not willing to to be at the top you're ready to put money before your Fitness uh your um um performances and uh and that's that's a statement for me and I don't know why Kuman would have to call bne and I'm with Shaka I never received a phone call from him I didn't expect any phone call from Ro that was what he what they decided to and that's it and Kuman for me made the right decision his only mistake was that he made it public cuz you can Exile him once he's in Saudi Arabia because as a national team coach you don't care how much money your players are going to make you want the best players the best players in your pool and certainly going to a lower level you would assume a national team what you would assume that would affect your standing with the national would affect your ability to play at an Optimum level when you're called in so his only mistake was making that public I understand Ronald kumman wanting more for his players but in this day and age especially with today's generation of players you can't just spout out the mouth publicly like that and not think it's going to affect the player in some way whose side are you on Ali how much money for one making see it's because and and and I know we laugh but it's look it's it's part of the reality it's part of the conversation and it's easy for us to sit here and be like ambition win a title with Ajax okay all right go to Champions League with Ajax okay all right but look I am thinking about a bigger picture here and I'm thinking about not only my family but my family's family and I I am now in a position where I can take care of everybody and we don't know what his personal situation is and we don't know what went through the decision decision making process and so it's very easy to say well he's going to s for the money well yeah cuz there's a lot of it it's a lot of it a lot of it a lot more than he will ever see playing anywhere else and so when you are an independent contractor and this is what players are and they put this boatload of money in front of you you kind of go uh well where where else is that money going to yeah but ali uh I'm sorry Ali but I I I can agree with you I understand the money is important we we mostly all grew up you know in a very difficult uh um situation uh and I've been one of those you know and um I you can question mark you know when you need money but those player they don't come from nowhere they already got the money I think chesne said he going to retire because he doesn't want to go to Saudi Arabia that he made enough money those player like be wine they played in some uh in some leagues where you have the money they already earn a lot a lot comparing to the the Our Generation and good for them I'm not I'm not bitter nothing it's it's it was good enough for us but platini platini platini earned like 25,000 a month playing for Juventus you know and uh but I I would have had an offer from Saudi Arabia or katar because I went to Qatar at 24 for a lot of money I would have say no I was an amateur selling shorts and t-shirts uh in MO nearby Paris and they offer me 20 50,000 a month to be the four player in in a sera team and I say no because I wanted to be a football player so I maybe I believe in fairy tale BBE I believe in Believe In N think and nice people but I'm sorry when you're 26 if you don't love football you go there if you love football you don't go there because you can play in a higher level to to to to that point Frank and and I get what you're saying but Berg gave it a go in English football he he he got to he got that big moved to to Spurs lasted a couple of years before he found himself back in in the era Devy so while he had this ambition he right now and again I I'm in no position to speak for him but you could understand if he's sitting there thinking listen I'm not quite good enough for one the big five European leagues to to earn significantly to really make a fantastic living out of this game I'm back in Dutch Football after I'll I'll coach quote unquote failing in in in English football he only lasted two years and now all of a sudden this this offer arrives and you're not sure that this offer is ever going to come again you're not sure if any kind of offer from a big five European league is going to come again absolutely you take it now if he if he's walking away from Spurs or he's walking away from Barcelona or something of the sword you understand the sentiment but he started a Dutch Football went to England only lasted a couple of years is back earning and he would have to assume relatively less you understand his head being okay I understand so you're saying that because he thinks that he's not good enough to play in the better League he goes to Saudi Arabia so why is he surprised that Kum Kuman doesn't pick him no I think I think Frank what he surprised is that Ronald kumman has come out publicly and made this into a personal issue which is the part that I think makes it newsworthy is because Ronald kman as her just pointed out doesn't have to pick the player as a manager you are you have the right and in fact it's your it's your job to pick the players that you think best suit your needs as a as a coach on the field and so quite frankly the one thing that he did not need to do was take a personal shot at berw and his personal decision to go to S IR don't pick him that's it that's all you have to do yeah don't pick him don't pick on him that's right [Music]
