Score Predictions: BYU football vs Southern Illinois

closing in on about 3 hours before the opening kick at level Edward Stadium new grass I'm curious how that holds up nice paint got a nice little touch in the end zones with the 100-year football logo down there so we're getting close Mitch it's finally here we've said it all show long it's it's been a long off season it's glad to have football back although the news that we've discussed throughout the show today does put a little damper on on the opener knowing that Jay Hill had the uh the health scare sounds like you know there's still details that we need to to find out but scary situation for for Jay Hill no question and uh you know it's it's uh you know put on a different feel for this game and I think it puts into perspective life and everything that comes with it so you know that's but still I think even he would say that that you know they probably excited for to be have the game and for this team because they have been working hard to get ready for this season and to see what they can become this year and it all starts against Southern Illinois who is not going to be afraid of BYU they are going to come into this game feeling like they can knock off the Cougars and you know there's there's reason to believe Southern Illinois could believe that I tend to disagree I think the people that say oh this could be a tough one I disagree I think BYU uh she'll take care of business but let's get our score predictions here for this one between the Cougars and the Salukis I got BYU winning 37-13 so if my math is correct that would be a 24o win I uh wasn't a math major so I get I maybe last Siri I don't know but I think that's a a more big enough win Mitch that you feel good about the way things went in the opener uh put putting up nearly 40 points that's a good place to start so I I like Bo you to win comfortably Nate let's get our producer n here what are you what are you thinking for this one I've got BYU big I know they're only a 14-point favorite but I think they are going to play a little more inspired football today because of the J Hill news and I think just the sense of urgency that they may have not felt last year against Sam Houston I think Bo's going to win big I have them winning 4110 41 to1 that would be nice very nice all right let's let's bring in the fourth member of the cougar Sports Saturday crew to give her first ever onair prediction Ally who do you got in the game tonight yeah I'm right there with you I have BYU getting a win tonight and I think that the score will be 35 to 17 if it's if it is 3517 Ally do you do you feel like Improvement would be made going forward I do I'm optimistic I sure hope so all right let's get Mitch Harpers the KSL Sports BYU Insider put uh put pen to paper and give us an actual prediction here BYU 38 Southern Illinois 17 BYU wins comfortably it's a game that's never in doubt Southern Illinois tacks on a late touchdown to make it look closer than it actually was this will be a solid performance by BYU I'm expecting it to be it needs to be because if it's not uh you know that's going to be uh a a a space in that postgame presser where you don't want Kanani to go hey I had to remind the guys that they won I don't want to hear that I don't want to hear that that's Portland State Vibes so uh BYU comes out strong makes it clear that this team is improved BYU by three touchdowns the Cougars get to one and0 and they get a good strong start to this 2024 season well whatever happens and hopefully our predictions are right we'll be breaking it down uh not Monday night though because it is Labor Day night that's a big family day so do not tune in on Monday from 600 to 7 we're bumping we're bumping the show by one day so Tuesday night from 6:00 to 7: we'll have another edition of cougar Nation taking your phone calls breaking down the win and looking ahead to SMU and then after that we'll get back to a regular Monday night Cadence but we wanted to let everyone enjoy Labor day before we roll back cougar Nation so I think either way there's going to be a lot to discuss on coug Nation next week Mitch it definitely is going to be and it's it's an exciting time of the year BYU football is back and it's going to be covered here on the Legacy home of the Cougars KSL News radio will have coverage inside the stadium tonight on KSL sports.com all of our social media channels we will have you covered throughout the BYU football season here on the Legacy home of the Cougars KSL News radio
