Hawaii Football Game Week Interviews vs. BYU

the feeling for our defense coaches included to walk out of that stadium with that win on their backs I think it's you know they battled through a bunch but to go win a game on defense I think is important you know and really all three sides right jojo's catch you know that all that stuff comes into a but defense where they had a good game oh we just had a chip on our shoulders we knew how I felt last year going into their house and feeling just having that feeling in our mouth you know just there's a really nasty taste I mean plus since Chev had the start we wanted to show that like he can just trust us no matter what he does he can take his shots and we'll have his back no matter what so we just had to be his backup support that's that was our that was our mission we wanted to be want to know that week and and get that trophy back and keep it in Hawaii that's the main goal last year I went and tried to show them all the games all the important games right eighty nine ninety to 2001 you know all the ones that kind of people talk about with you I you and I'm not a big crier but I had some tears my eye just because it's so important to to this program this game and you know I told me yesterday most you guys know how I feel about this game I'm not gonna cry this year but you know I I think they get it I think they get him more than they did last year it was great just seeing them you know it was just like it's good to have a coach that's played in the system and like it really knows what he's talking about you know like when he's a like when he explains stuff he like he says yeah when I when I used to play the game like me and my me like me and my receivers and stuff they would get together we all get together and then like we'll just explain like how do you feel about this and like do it just so we just could all be on the same page and stuff so I mean we try to take stuff like that and just take it bring it's our game I'm pretty sure this whole team is excited controllers really emphasized how much of a robbery it is last year's my first year really kind of experienced it because there's more blue and in our stadium than there were green and black I feel like myself in and for the guys you know we want to we want to be part of that legacy you know to know why and it's everybody I mean something special and you know if we can give that to the to the state in to the people you know that I'd mean the world to us just coming back with that win and you know we're gonna go out there and and you know execute our assignments and then play great football and come back at that one so it's gonna mean a lot to us like I said we got to take day-by-day because there's a lot of stuff that we have to adjust to when it comes to their offense so we just gotta live in the moment right now don't think about what's gonna happen Saturday just know that we have to practice every day as if it's a as if it's the game day so our guys just want to go out and play play the best they can and it'll be a great environment I mean these guys won't don't even understand the history just like I didn't understand the history when I played in 2001 but you know we get a win up there we come home Sunday they'll understand how much this game means to this community
